  1. I would have to agree... but flying with the "shoulder" attachments will not allow the pilot to utalize the advantages of a paragliding harness. With practice, and the ability of a snowboarder to "adjust" to using a snowbaord with a paragliding style harness, a snowboarder could make it work... but it is the "harder" way. Also, consider accessing the backcountry via skinning, difficult on a snowboard. All in all skiis are the best way to approach, learn speed riding K
  2. In regards to locating "safe" sites to launch, I agree with Chuck.... A minimum slope angle of 30 + degrees, as well as reasonable areas on the hill in case of an unintentional landing on the hillside. I always hike the hills and become very familiar with the landscape, so I have options. A hill facing into the predominant winds, with a landing area that is wide open with no other hills, trees, and or buildings near by to create turbulance. I would STRONGLY suggest getting professional instuction before just ""going for it". I speak from experience. It's VERY easy to get hurt speed flying and or riding. With proper instruction you will be better infromed when hunting for new sites. On my space page the first couple of videos show examples of hills that open up to safe landing areas, they might give you a good idea of what to look for . The grassy hills in the vidoes , have winds that come up the slope about 60 70 % of the time, in the correct directon (straight up the slope) If you happen to see the videos of speedriding, understand that speedriding is a whole new ball game. They are NOT the same thing. Safety precautions are much different up in the mountains. Flying via skis, down a mountan, through narrow rows of trees with turbulance and weather conditions that can change rapidly, defiinitely requires permission and professional instruction. SPEED FLYING AND SPEED RIDING ARE NOT THE SAME THING! WWW.MYSPACE.COM/KEVIN_SWOOPS Good luck, be safe. K
  3. What if it was far less expensive?? whatt if it also flew faster, better??? just a thought.... hmmmm K
  4. yep.... most of my 2,300+ launches are gl's about 300+ are ski launches. that ratio will change over the next couple years. If your lack of skiing ability is your only obstacle, I think it would be worth your while to learn? just a thought. K
  5. Picture of our group at the second camp last season.... Brian, Charlie, Nick ,and me K
  6. very impressive!! I would love to come out there and fly with you guys.... What would be the name of the airport I would fly into? I run my own school for both speed flying and riding in the winter.... what would the cost be for me? Do you hike or is there access by vehicle to the summit. nice vids I'm rarely impressed at "sites" but am with yours .. Kevin D Love www.myspace.com/kevin_swoops check it out if you havn't allready peace
  7. One of my first students, who was what I would consider a advanced snowboarder, had very little to no trouble speed flying with a snowboard. One thing I will say is that as a novice skiier he tried "short" skis and preferred speed flying with skis over a snowboard. I'll try and post a pick or two of Nick Armstrong speed ridding on a board. Kevin
  8. SPEED RIDING TAHOE... Come get more fligt time in one day than most swoopers do in on week! K love
  9. The month of Jan. and hopefully march, april.... As long as there is people who want to learn to speed ride then I'll be out there to teach it K
  10. Exactly!! I'm too bussy with the opposite sex and flying to learn how to use a computer :) but thanks for the help mark k
  11. Go watch www.myspace.com/kevin_swoops no offence, the bullet, from a paragliding point of view, may be a great wing but... Take a look at this wing. It's not for everyone, but with proper training it has all the range of a bullett and much more. Speed riding in he US. 2008 season contact Kevin Love canopyflightpro@hotmail.com
  12. I think skybitch is pretty smart too! I'd jump her anytime... oh.... I mean jump with her he he K
  13. Consider a 135 sabre 2, it's semi eliptical and if your determined to down size a sabre is a good choice based on what you've been flying:) with 161 jumps you should probably keep your wing loading around 1.3 , 1.4 or less. Just my opinion.... K

  16. I don't want to fuel the fire. I'm not going to go into that much detail. This situation has escalated out of control. Everyone can take the information presented by both sides and consider the character and past behavior of those involved and come to your own conclusion. Before I give a brief statement of my version, I want to say something. I didn't log on to dropzone .com until tonight. I didn't realize that this topic created any kind of debate. What I want to say to all those who spoke kind words about me and gave me the benefit of the doubt...THANK YOU. I was very touched when I read the posts. Those kind words meant a lot to me. I know who my bro's really are. This is what happened...I was not performing @ a level the team was happy with in certain areas (that I will not discuss) I brought up leaving the team a month before I quit the team. I admit that I could have been more professional in the way I left. But my attempts to communicate and address the problems were brushed aside. As if the problems would magically disappear. I won't place 100% of the blame on any one person. I accept my part in this situation. Teams inherentiy have problems. It's difficult for ANY team to function well, get along, and stay together. This issue should never have become a topic for the public. When mis information is posted on a world wide forum that isn't fully true. I feel I have to stand up for myself and tell my side of the story. I'll finish by saying neither side was happy. We agreed to keep the situation "low Key" and make my departure from the team as quiet as possible. It didn't work out that way. As anyone who logs on to canopypiloting.com can see. If if were not for that "press release" this would not be the issue it has become. I'm going to remain as professional as possible and maintain my own personal integrity. i apologize for the lack of details, but i'm honering my word to not disclose matters that are private to TEAM EXTREME. I can only hope that the other parties involved will show the same perfessionalism. So we can all let this sleeping dog lie. Thanks again to all those who spoke kind words and gave me the benefit of the doubt. Judgeing me by my actions and there personal experiences with me. Thanks again! Sincerely, Kevin D. Love
