Yet more good reasons for the death penalty.
marks2065 replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
It really never ceases to amaze me at how many "christians" are willing to usurp their gods vengeance. "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord" i say execute them or you can pay to keep them for the rest of their lives. i'm tired of paying for low life assholes to get better than i got. -
Obama must respond to Writ of Certiorari by December 1
marks2065 replied to BIGUN's topic in Speakers Corner
You know.. the straws that you guys are grasping at are so fucking ludicrous as to be utterly ridiculous... Can any of you actually give ANY freaking credence to ANYTHING any of you did at 4 YEARS OF AGE... CHRIST ALMIGHTY.....get the fuck over it already....this is only making the fringe right look like what they are. it is a democrat not a republican heading this lawsuite. so stop yelling at the right for a liberal issue -
it is the balance between the different branches and parties. to bad people don't realize that the president is the final step in the process and has to deal with what congress gives him. the president can talk, influence and sign but but is restricted from doing much by himself. the last couple years the dem controled congress hasn't given him much to work with. the one good thing about congress and the exect branch not working well together is that while they are fighting they are not passing new spending bills to run the debt up further. unfortunatly they made up for that with one big piece of shit bailout bill.

nobody but Obama knows what he meant by change. he would have had to either show a trac record of voting in the senate or lay out specifics of his policy during the campain, of which he did niether. so anything that he does that doesn't duplicate Bush is a change in his eyes. Actually, it is pretty easy to predict. I previously posted this voting analysis done by OpenCongress.org Obama voted with the Dem party 98% of the time. Obama voted with Clinton 96% of the time. it is not the votes he did make its the huge amount present votes he made that makes it imposible to understand his direction and motive.

Obama wants $50B in loans released to carmakers
marks2065 replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
There have been a lot of websites that promoted that. Their problem was finding those products. Who builds stereos? Electronics ? Clothing? Nobody in the US. Your bank? Bank of America? Information processing is done overseas. Most major multinationals do that. Even the US govt sends software contracts overseas. but that doesn't mean we can't try to at least buy from american conpanies when possible, even if the product is made elsewere the profits stay here in the US -

I have to wonder, if buying a product for more than you should just because it's "Made in America" does more harm (long term) by enablling bad management and bad business practices to survive longer than they should in a real market. It's an interesting marketing ploy, but there's no proof that it doesn't cause more harm than good. the extra $20 i spent on several ink cartridges at my local place for my printers got me $1200 in work. sounds good to me. -
the answer is mostly no. i have heard of a couple people getting time after 10 - 20 years but that is a rare exception. also we generally get 1 - 3 weeks paid vacation depending on time with a company. the problem with america is we need to be motivated, with motivation we are the most productive country in the world without exception, without the right motivation we are generally the whiniest.

If you think the unions' job is to manage the corporation, maybe they should fire the CEOs and give the CEOs' salaries to the workers. unions have done good in the past, but now they are part of the problem. the mechanics union has almost priced the dealer out of business. the union needs to work at supporting the worker without bankrupting the company. the government needs to support the american companies with the same incentives that the foriegn companies get. for some of the other posters on this thread, if you drive a foriegn car and are unemployed, you deserve it! maybe if you bought some american products you would still be employed. just owning a foriegn car makes you a bigger part of the problem. even if you bought a toyota made in the US the profits go back to japan and support the economy there not here. . Last Chevy I bought turned out to have been assembled in Mexico. Driving a Ford product now, but who knows where the parts came from? alot of the big 3 products are made in canada and mexico, but the profits support the economy here in the US. Even Harley get parts made overseas but the bulk is done here in the US and the profits stay here to support our economy. I personally own 2 dodges, 2 fords, a harley, and even my speakers on my stereo are bose (an american comany). my skydiving gear and most of my scubu gear is made by american companies. I try to buy American whenever I can. I will even pay a little more if i can buy something from my local community to support the area that supports my business. after all the partisin crap lately on politics, maybe we should just be americans and support America and the products we make and the companies that employ us. How many people out here can say at least 75% of what they own(other than their house) was purchased or made by an American company? -

I don't know if it is still true, but Japan used to subsidise companies that exported products so they could sell those products cheaper in other countries to give them the edge needed to be competitive and to prosper in other countries. -
Counting requires math skills. learning those skills requires good teachers. no fire the ones that don't do their job well. Right - teachers should be paid comparably to other professionals, like lawyers and physicians, then we'd get a better class of applicant to teacher colleges.

no a hybrid battery is not lead acid. as of right now they are nondisposable and non recycleable. there is only one country accepting them for disposal and that is china.

i would be surprised if Obama doesn't bankrupt alaska. he is already talked about pulling drilling rights in several states and has no intention of expanding drilling in alaska. for those that voted for Obama i hope you like $5 gallon gas pricing and a larger national debt because they are both coming. one thing that alot of people don't understand is that alot of the financial problems with the automakers is the fact that they need to meet epa requirements and retool to electric and other forms of fuel, this has put a huge amount of dollars into r&d with GM leading the way with $s spent in this area. when the carbon tax grows and the power generation companies switch to cleaner energy the puplic WILL pay huge amounts to heat homes, light homes, and drive cars. any tax reduction or rebate from Obama will be only a small percentage of the increase the public wil see.

Is the Nation headed forward or back....
marks2065 replied to diablopilot's topic in Speakers Corner
alot of programs put together to stop problems have gone to far and coused there own problems. unions, welfare, afermative action ect have all had good intentions but all have been abused to cause just as many problrems on the other end of the spectrum. Until programs can be used for good without being abused we will be teetering, therefore i don't think we are going forward or backward. -
Will Bush go down in history as worst president ever?
marks2065 replied to HellRaiser's topic in Speakers Corner
there is alot of good that bush has done in his 2 terms, to bad people only get the bad news from the press. so no bush isn't the worst president, not even in the botom 25%. any president in this time would have had similar results. the things that bush couldn't control in his 8 years like katrina, rita, tech buble crash, and 911 are all huge events that would have made almost any president look bad. -
I know someone who admitted that he would never vote for a black regardless of party. well then that guy is racist and probably shouldn't be voting because electing a president is to important to have race be the deciding factor.

there won't be any further changes to make voter fraud more difficult until the democratic party sees it going against them. Last time I checked, until last Tuesday NC had been a "red" state for decades, so blame the Republicans, not the Dems. last i heard the republicans are trying to stop voter fraud and the dem's are blocking those efforts with lawsuites to allow it.

Here it is: Rush, you've said some pretty wild things in your time but you have just set a new high for dead enders. How you can sit there and type that his failure has yet to be judged is almost beyond belief. His failure has been judged, not just by me or some folks here on SC, but by the vast majority of the planet who, if it were not the fact he has his finger on the largest nuclear stockpile in existence, would be calling for a war crimes trial. That post is about BUSH. Not the USA. So, I'll ask for the third time, where did Quade (or anybody) say either of the things you've claimed? Yes, did you? According to a recent BBC World Service poll of 26,000 people in 25 countries (mostly non-Arab), just 29 percent now feel the United States exerts a mainly positive influence on the world. That compares with 36 percent who felt that way a year ago and 40 percent two years ago. When asked about the U.S. military presence in the Middle East, an average of 68 percent of respondents across the 25 countries answered that it provokes more conflict than it prevents. first of all you can't judge the long term results of bush's presidency for a long time. hoover got the blame for the depression when it was really the presidency before him that started the resession and roosevelt that sunk us deep into the depression by raising taxes. who cares what most of the rest of the world thinks? are they looking out for our best interests? i doubt it. it really bothers me that most of the countries that don't like us like Obama.

Voting for Obama because he wasn't Bush (or McCain) is a perfectly valid reason. And the reason why he won. no it is not. what he stands for and what he wants to do is a valid reason. charles manson isn't bush either should we elect him?

niether one is good enough reason to vote. the problem with americans is that they are to lazy to do a little reserch into the facts. kinda like they want a paycheck for surfing the net and talking to friends.why do you think jobs are going overseas? it's cheaper over there and the people will work while they are at work. they are more productive. i've gotten rid of the lazy want to surf the net employees. reward = effort and here there is no effort.

at least she knows how many states there are. there are 57 right? ok i kept hearing about this one but i never knew what was being referenced. i just found the clip on youtube, and it sounds to me like he was making a joke that the audience understood..but that's neither here nor there. i don't think obama's intelligence or education have ever been in question by either side, regardless of who you liked to win.... my post was about o'reilly suggesting that we should be okay with needing to tutor our VP on the basics of political structures, and on geography and history. stuff we learn in elementary school. that, to me, is absurd. as absurd as a party choosing a running mate without knowing how uninformed they truly are about world affairs. each person, obama, biden McCain, and palin all had areas of expertise in different subjects. we just didn't get to hear about the deficiencies on the dem side.

Quote>the people that don't take the time to find out at least a little about the election have no right voting. Yes they do. >legally yes morally no. the choice of voting for president is very important, almost the most important choice you could ever make, therefore voting without knowledge of the situation would be disservice to you and the country. I can agree with that in theory, I just don't believe people are actually going to the voting booths that oblivious. There is something that motivated them to register, and something that motivated them to vote; and I feel that motivation is enough. Even if their vote was motivated by race, I still believe that they have some knowledge of their candidate even if they are not as informed as other voters. Quote no alot of people vote that don't have a clue. i know people on this election that voted because obama was black and voted because obama wasn't bush and didn't know who biden was

And one of the bravest things I've seen a performer do. Natalie Maines certainly wasn't wrong and it sure as hell takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of that kind of crowd and put out that much of an unpopular opinion. People may not have liked her for doing it, but she was right. no she was wrong, not for her opinion but for how she put her opinion out and you are wrong for supporting it. she and others like her put our president in a more difficult position and undermined his position as a leader. as much as i disslike Obama i wouldn't want him to be made fun of on a national or internation scale like that, because he is going to have a tough enough time to make things work. he nor bush need or deserve the dissrespect that was displayed in that concert.
