at least she knows how many states there are. there are 57 right?

I believe prejudice would be the correct word to use. Yes they do. legally yes morally no. the choice of voting for president is very important, almost the most important choice you could ever make, therefore voting without knowledge of the situation would be disservice to you and the country.
-
Very Well Said and I completely agree. He is now our President elect and as such deserves respect however as American Citizens we must work towards supporting the policies we agree with and work towards stopping the ones we do not agree with. Respect the Office. Respect the Man (Obama has earned respect thus far) "Respectfully" Speak out against the Policies that the Man in the office wants to push that you do not agree with. sorry but i had to add respectfully to your last sentence. one of the most damaging and dissrespectful things done to bush was when the dixie chicks in london said that they were embarrassed of bush.

there won't be any further changes to make voter fraud more difficult until the democratic party sees it going against them.

you're right, the strength of this country is the people that make between 50k & 300k and we will do just like we always have and that is work and make this country go forward. though i disagree with Obama i will still respect him and his position. I do not believe in making a specticle out of the president and show disrespect like people did with Bush because that only belittles our country and shows how imature some of the US is. Obama was elected president, and wether we like his ideals or not, he deserves respect regaurdless of how we feel about his policies.
-
i agree with your thought to bad Obama doesn't see it that way. how can he distribute it to who he feels should get it if he doesn't take it first?
-
anybody that voted for color is a racist. i voted for McCain becuse i side with issues that McCain presented. there was some reporters that asked questions of people on the street that had no idea what Obama stood for or what his policies are. one of my wifes freinds voted for Obama and didn't even know who Biden was. the people that don't take the time to find out at least a little about the election have no right voting. although i am republican and don't agree with Obama i still respect the ones that voted for him because they agree with his policies but have no respect for the people that voted not knowing the issues or even who was running for vice president.

yep i am reading what i am posting. this interview was a while ago i know, but nobody carried it until last night. obama hasn't said anthing about it in the last few months(that i know of). i do watch 4 different news stations and listen to a couple on the radio. this is something that i missed or wasn't covered. i think this is something important and Obama and the news coverage has seemed to let it slide. why hasn't Obama explained this along with his tax cuts?
-
if you saw the whole show you would have seen the other side of the story. they did cover a little on McCain's side. what pisses me off is that something like this was left out of the news. we need to know this stuff. people that agree with either candidate need to know this stuff. our economy needs to be stimulated not overburdened with skyrocketing energy costs. what good would Obama's tax cuts be if we used all that and then some to pay the electric bill? isn't it dishonest of Obama to omit this in his talks?
-
what does the sorce have to do with Obama's own words? does what he said mean something different on CNN or MSNBC?
-
no McCains policy includes brakes for coal plants to ease the switch to clean coal and nuclear. he is not looking to kill the caol industry like Obama. www.foxnews.com/hannityandcolmes
-
no i think Obama , the actual interview was on the news last night and unless McCain became black it had to be Obama. you can watch it herewww.foxnews.com/hannityandcolmes
-
Yes he is. And Malkin is a hack, but most of us know that. You know what, I opened that fact sheet, read it...his bullet point on nuclear is non-committal at best to quote: His point about coal is 180 degrees from his statements in San Francisco. The stated positions for oil drilling are equally ambiguous. There is no commitment to increase exploration or ease the restrictions. The off-shore ban expiration will be reinstated. Comment from a coal state: wvgazette.com/News/200811030309 what about Obama's interview on the carbon tax that he said " you can still build a coal plant but why, it would bankrupt the plant with the carbon tax" and "electric rates will nessesarily skyrocket"

What entitlement programs would you cut, and how much would it save?

just because the numbers are not posted doesn't mean it's not happening. i didn't see your canopy colission does that mean that didn't happen? There were about 200 witnesses and a photo published in Parachutist. None of the whiners about welfare cheats can come up with any data to support their position. We DO know how much money is being wasted every month in Iraq, though. how is 5.4 trillion dollars since 1965? www.heritage.org/research/welfare/HL524.cfm Oh, thanks for find such a NON PARTISAN source of CURRENT information. You are aware that the welfare laws were changed, right? had some troublr finding good numbers but here is one on illegal imagration and welfare. www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html i know that the legal people would be costing alot more. some of the things that piss me off about welfare are the ones that abuse it. some of the people cash their welfare checks at the boat and gamble the money away(i have seen this). why are we giving people checks to cash? why not pay the bills for them? instead of giving them the check have them bring in a bill and the gov pays their bills up to x amount amonth. -

HUH????? Never paid taxes? Where do get this??? I can assure you, I pay PLENTY of taxes and have since I started working at my first "real job" at 16. Seems to me that its the middle class that pays the majority of the taxes in this country- the upper classes are always finding ways to get around paying taxes. You should do some fact checking!!!!! The upper class pay almost all of the taxes! The top 10 % (of wage earners) pay 70% of the taxes. Think about it and try again. the problem with people understanding this subject is that they assume that medicare, state and local taxes are included in this but they are not. Obama is talking about federal taxes only (as far as i can tell) and to that the people making under $50.000 pay next to nothing after they get the deductions and file the tax return and alot get money back from the government after filing the tax return.

if this is the case, why are so many people still on it for all these years? time limits are needed so people don't string out the retraining. if you can't get retrained in x amount of time then i guess you loose. to many people have found loop holes to use the system as it is. -

I agree about job retraining. I don't agree about kicking someone off the disability roles once they get another job. For temporary disability, sure. For permanent disability, just because you got retrained to be a clerk/typist, the leg won't grow back. People with permanent disabilities have additional financial needs than people without. What was your wheelchair budget last year? Probably zero. For someone with no legs, their wheelchair budget is probably pretty hefty, whether they are working or not. I recently lost my prosthetic arm (good story, I need to get around to posting it). If I hadn't been in the VA system, it would have been extremely difficult to replace. These things are frickin expensive. isn't that what insurance is for? not to make light of your situation, and everyone is different, but if you get your retraining paid for and medical condition paid for why would you continue to collect ? -

OK, but what if you lose a legg and can't spell either? unlike alot of the system sucking loosers i will figure it out and make myself a respectable life doing something. if that means i need to learn to type and spell better so be it. I have NEVER been out of work except by my own choice since i was 12. alot of people haven't worked since they were 12 by their own choice and these are the ones that need to be taken off any government programs and let rot if they don't do something for themselves -

That's pretty harsh. I doubt you know too many disabled people. I receive disability and can still work. Hell, I can still drive, type, even skydive. Am I gaming the system? Sucking it dry? Should I be cut off from disability compensation? Would it change your answer to know I lost my arm fighting in Afghanistan? I agree that someone who is faking an injury to get a check needs to be punished, but I don't think we should punish people with permanent disabilities for rising above and succeeding. Cutting people off from disability because they are able to work some Joe job just provides a disincentive for them to work at all. Of course, it sounds to me like you group severely disabled people in with all those lazy people who don't want to work and just want Obama to give them your tax money. I personally make more at work than I get from the VA, but I'll bet a lot of disabled vets don't. Oh well, fuck 'em. They knew what they were getting into when they signed up, right? my point was to the ones that sit back and collect and live on the system. I am all for helping those that help themselves. this is the problem with the welfare and dissability systems in this country, they promote staying on the system and not getting off. i did say train people to do someting else, to make them a productive person. i also believe in a sliding scale instead of just droppin them off when they start getting back on there feet. the longer you stay on the program the less you get untill it is gone. this will make people look for new ways of making a living and shorten their time living on the system. -

you forgot people collecting on dissabilities. this area has alot of people sucking the system dry. if you lost a legg you can still type. make it mandatory that anyone collecting dissability be made to see another doctor and then retrained to a field they can still do. just because you can't do something doesn't mean you live on us for the rest of your life. -
the idea of acorn is a good one but it has used it's power and abilities to sway an election by using tactics that are unlawfull. acorn should be used to help All voters (dem or rep) to register properly and let the people vote according to ther own ideals, not have the ideals presured upon the voters. as far as the war goes, McCain has voted for and against wars and he understands the cost of war. I don't feel that McCain wants war and he would use many avenues at his disposal to avoid war, but he also will not let our military get stepped on or come home in defeat. Not all war is bad, i can think of 5 that had positive outcomes for the US and its people. even though the costs were very high, the cost of not fighting would have been alot higher. imho the diference in the wars over the last 50years is that the enemy was not knocking on our doorsteps. after ww1 and ww2 our government has had the idea that we should extinguish the fire before it gets to our house, unlike the world wars that we didn't get involved until it was almost to late. i guaruntee that people would see the iraq war differently if the US would have waited until Sadam had taken over the middle east and was threatening europe. this is why everyone rallied behind Bush after 911 because it was on our doorstep but not for Iraq because it had not gotten to our doorstep yet.

you are correct that we don't know excactly what Obama meant, but if we put together Obama's relationships and actions in the past we conclude that he wants to take from the rich and give to the poor, and he will do it with the radical groups he has been associated with. since we have nothing else to use to base our conclussions on this will have to do. Maybe if Obama voted yes or no 130 times instead of present we could better understand his direction and how much influence his associations actually have on him. I cant believe so many people want to vote for this guy and have absolutely no idea what he really stands for. Wouldn't it be a smart thing to know what the candidate is about and how he/she will govern by their trac record before they get elected? and not find out after they get elected?
