Poe, When it's I&R time you should practice for real & pull those handles. Your pilot chute will spring out and you can see how that works as well as get a feel for the "normal friction force" required to pull your gear out. My rigger recommends this and has me do it at his place. I've heard some riggers don't like you to pull the handles but hey, I'm paying for a repack & service whether it's just an I&R or one after a ride. I guess you could use your rig in a hanging harness setup and have someone spin you around but that seems extreme. It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude. I've never ridden my reserve but I trust it will get the job done when called upon and I have no fear about making that decision. My rig has a PD160R which I have pulled for I&R and gone over with my rigger who is very particular about his work. He also packs pilot rigs for all of the aircraft manufacturers and it was his save last month on that C126 test flight. So I trust my gear and my rigger. Since I normally jump a Sabre, I have put a bunch of jumps on a friends Tri160 so I have a feel for flying a 7 cell of the same size as my reserve. Best I can do without actually flying my reserve. Students don't owe beer 'cause just about everything is a 1st. Nobody should ever owe beer for standing down a jump. Vertigo & nausea? Add a Tee to EP and let us know the results

Gettin you're Dick's on at lunch huh! I'm all about the quickie when necessary. So more cold weather tips from the pro's: Don't put on your gloves until just before exit. You don't want any moisture build up in those puppies. If you have the thin one's and are still cold because they ain't blocking all the wind, wear a pair of latex exam gloves under them. You should still be able to feel your handles. The latex will block that wind. If jumping multiple loads, keep the gloves about normal body temp. Don't heat them up so your hand sweats in them or you will get cold under canopy. IOW, don't set them in front of the 1500deg propane heater in the hanger between loads. Try to stand up landings in the snow, especially if you do nude snow jumps. It ain't the time to buttslide in a downwinder. Stand outside on really really cold days and listen to your friends in freefall as they burn down in the dense air and then run back into the warm hanger and smile. They will do the same when it's your turn. We get a ton of fun jumps at our DZ over the winter b/c there ain't very many tandems. It's like night jumping with no moon. You just have to plan the dive and adjust as you go until you are comfortable. It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude. If you're gonna be stupid, you better be tough. That's fucked up. Come on dude, do the skydiver math. Cost of 2 tix / price of jump tix = A (Chance of getting laid after concert *100 - Years AC/DC has been together) = B Go with the higher number! Ex: 400 / 21 = 19 35% chance - 40 years = -5 Go jump....it's always fun! 35% - 100 It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude. If you're gonna be stupid, you better be tough. That's fucked up. I'll second that there Poe. I was one of 7 Kansas jumpers that hit Dallas last Jan 29th and it was 18deg on the ground at 8am. Of course we were the only ones there and got used like a WDI on that 1st run. Nobody landed on but we had the bunkroom, aircraft, and hangar to ourselves all weekend. We jump all winter here with the wind & the snow so I don't want to hear any whining from y'all right coast folks. It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude. No Hate Intended but my DZ is only 16 minutes from my driveway But since we live in the town where there are 5 major aircraft manufacturers including Cessna & Hawker-Beech, it ain't really that hard to find a ride if ya need one. I bet I could get to the DZ in about 6 minutes if I didn't have to go around 4 airfields and the AFB. Oh yea, ask the 8 Ball if I will be getting my Luck or my Swervey on this weekend. Zippers are no big deal. Mine has them along the back rather than the side and they hold up pretty well. Another option is you can learn to sew. I'm learning myself and have made repairs to others suits and am in the process of adding full booties to a toe loop suit. It's the pattern making that's a bitch. Bootie soles -- Shoe Goo I guess if your suit is too fast, you could oversew some drag material on the front or go with sleeves. That's my 2cents and as always, I'm not an instructor and try not to do something stupid before checking with a more experienced person first, etc. It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude. if you are at an RW 182 dropzone? I mean it really makes it tough on the vidiot if he has to ride the strut up. So if the 182 is where it all started and that's the only thing available, how do you compete given no video slot and way different exits than on the turbines.
