  1. Look on youtube for the sad cat diary. Insight to what a cat is thinking about various things. It made me cry while laughing. At one point, the cat relates how the 'authorities' mistakenly locked him out of the bedroom, so he sat outside the door the rest of the night..."singing the song of my people". I think this is it. No sound at work. http://youtu.be/PKffm2uI4dk I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  2. Some of them take it a step further and form a plural marriage of H2O2. That just complicates things something awful. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 3. Well, the house next door burned. Intuitively, that would suggest the odds of another house in the neighborhood burning are now astronomically low. (Don't jump on the bad logic. I know much more about probability theory than average.) But if you ever saw, "The World According to Garp", you will recall the scene where he and his wife had just finished touring a house they were considering buying. A plane flew into the house as they stood on the street. Garp turned to the agent and declared, "We'll take it! What are the odds anything bad could ever happen to this house again!" Seriously, I'm not sure a cost/benefit analysis would justify a sprinkler system in the average residence. A fire-proof safe for cash, important documents, and valuables coupled with insurance is probably all the risks justify for most people. Of course, walking through the house with a video recorder and documenting your stuff and serial numbers for an insurance claim may be a good use of your time. Just make sure you update it about annually and have the file in the safe, with someone else, or on the net. It really doesn't take long. 4. I think Jerry's point is: “It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.” ― Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes If the predictions from the theory do not come to pass and the observable data is in contrast with the theory, one has to question the theory. 5. That was in the States. The 'hill' is called Lookout Mountain. It is part of the Appalachian Mountains south of the Great Smoky Mountains. Even those don't compare to the Rocky Mountains out West. Not sure what the real definition of a mountain is. The launch there is 1340' above the LZ. My lamentation is that I am in Belgium...nothing to launch from. I have to go to an airfield an hour away to be towed up by a Dragonfly ultralight. Ah well. The things we do for love. 6. You do know you can wash your feet first, right? I don't think anyone is advocating this right after running a marathon or a 12 mile ruck march. But, if there was a co-ed bath first, maybe even a pedicure / foot massage...you might see things differently. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 7. That's all fine and good, until people decide that yelow-flower-lapellers don't have the same rights as red-flower-lapelers. Pretty much my point. If it isn't hurting anyone, it's not your business what your neighbor does. By extrapolation, it is not society's / government's business. In my head, I just reverse things. You want homosexual sex to be illegal and you are in the majority? Okie doke. What are you going to do when those who want to make heterosexual sex illegal become the majority? What if they reach majority status and require it? Let's make a deal; no mattter who is in the majority, let's keep laws out of each other's lives when nobody is being harmed by the underlying conduct. In the long run, I think we'll all be better. 8. Your general point is well taken. The American culture leaves something to be desired in many areas. I don't think anyone said 20 was a good thing. Just that the facts do not justify the media claims that things are getting worse. Comparing the culture of the US to Uk or European cultures is tricky. We've never had a monarchy. We never had to have a Coat of Arms from the King that allowed us to bear arms. Our country was born in revolution against a government that was acting unjustly. It has lead us down different paths. While we get along nicely, we are not the same. To the OP: this isn't surprising. Myths about guns in the US seem to be more common than facts. The media that jumped on Biden's gun ban proposals seemed to have forgotten why the Clinton ban was allowed to expire. Studies showed that ten years of the Clinton gun ban did not make things better. 9. I'm still considering becoming 'biwingual'. Wish there were hills / mountains around here. http://youtu.be/6BGNI06J7Rg This was a really nice flight and pretty perfect landing my son caught on video. 11. Looks like fun. I always though luge (sp?) looked like fun. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  12. My shinken. It can't be replaced. Am I the only one using dropbox? All of my electronics are linked to it. If I take a picture with my smart phone or tablet, by the time I get to my laptop to post it online, the photo is on dropbox via the wifi. If I am out and about when I take pictures, as soon as I get home, my smart device has connected to my wifi and uploaded my pictures. Destroy any of my devices and all I need is a new device and about thirty minutes to set it all to rights. Dropbox is not the only service out there. 13. If you run a search, you'll find pretty cool videos of what people have done to their houses for their cats. Walkways around the entire room just below the ceiling that have their own passages through walls into other rooms. I've seen them where the cat could tour the house without ever touching the floor. I have to be careful. My body temperature seems to go up when I sleep. I wake up with every cat in a house cuddled up to me. I don't mind. It just makes going to the bathroom awkward. So, if the cat count in a house gets too high, I have to close the bedroom door. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 14. Brown chicken, brown cow - not an insult. Low rent foreplay. Toe sucking - quality foreplay. Also not an insult. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 15. If more people were shot in theatres for being annoying, I bet theatres would become much more pleasurable in a short span of time. I have a similar theory. I would like to bring back dueling. If the guy behind the counter is rude, you throw your card down and demand satisfaction. If you've never tried it, slap someone with a glove. It's delightfully satisfying. I think if people knew you could call them out so easily, there would be more courtesy. Kind of like the old west. You tipped your hat to a lady and left your gun in the holster lest twenty other cowboys use you for target practice. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 16. For voting, too. And exercise of religious freedom. And free speech...of course, that would be the end of some of the posters in SC. 17. HERE - good answer instead of spending a load of time trying to rationalize positions (either way) with 'why', we'd all be better off just saying, "it doesn't matter, it just is", and accepting each other without being assholes or over the top, etc etc etc. Bill, the reason I think it IS important is that assigning sexuality, especially homo-, to "nurture" results in a number of ill consequences. One is that it ascribes the BEING of homosexuality as programmable-in; thus, logically, it must also be programmable-OUT. This invites horrid abuse of homosexuals under the rationalization of (for example) "beating the gay out of them." Another is the rationalization of ostracizing or abusing homosexuals on the grounds that they have CHOSEN a state of BEING that is socially unacceptable. Either way, the consequence is abhorrent. Millions - probably billions - of people living today are socialized to reject the attitude of "it doesn't matter, it just is". Ascribing homosexuality, even of some, to nurture, enables their intolerance, for it provides a viable soil to nurture it. I see your point. And it's a good one. The problem those people still have to overcome in my mind is this...why is it a problem? Even if it is nurture, that's the way they are. If they are happy, who are you to tell them that they must change? For the record, I think both nature and nurture are involved in various people to various degrees. There is no one answer. I could be wrong. Hard to prove one way or another until someone finds the 'gay' gene. If pinning a yellow flower in your lapel every morning makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone else, I really don't care if someone else thinks god decreed it to be wrong. 18. I sleep like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, too. As to Deep Thought...well...I still think "42" is a crock. 19. I would see that as simple overstatement to emphasize a point if it weren't for the underlying story. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  20. Spanking lover. No comment Now, there is a telling comment... But you draw the line at having your toes sucked? Again, I can tell you haven't tried it. 22. Are you saying the shooter used deadly force, the texter threw deadly popcorn (butter), or the shooter threw the popcorn so he could later claim the texter did it and the shooter only acted in self-defense? Are we heading for a call to ban popcorn? I would enjoy poking fun at this more if someone had not died. I wish guys could still punch each other out and have a drink afterwards. 23. I don't think, even at it's most villainous, popcorn can be considered a deadly weapon. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  24. Wow. I have no problem ignoring people if they talk or text during previews. If it was really something I wanted to see, I might move or ask them to take it to the lobby. This level of over-reaction indicates something else going on. Kind of like road rage. Very sad. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 25. You know, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) didn't believe in the Tooth Fairy. Of course, he got to meet Julie Andrews out of it, so it wasn't so bad.
