I routinely lapse into a British accent at work. Mostly to mess with the Brits. I use an accent that is softer than the Scottish accent. The Brits refer to it as a Southern accent. I went into it the other day when a very proper English Colonel was asking me something. He has a two part last name, which indicates he is descended from upper crust. That's kind of what my accent is. He just stared at me blankly for a moment. Then, he said, "That's creepy. Yanks aren't supposed to sound like that." Apparenlty, I do it pretty well. Mostly, they tell me they can understand me better when I talk like that. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I'm in Belgium. These people drive like crap when stone cold sober. I hate to see what happens on New Year's Eve. The post bowling alley has something going on. I'll probably hit that to be sociable and then get to bed early. I'll ride the motorcycle New Year's Day to view the destruction. Where's his gun? Personally, I would have put that Christmas card up on my mantle immediately. I thought it was cute. My family Christmas events often include guns one way or another. And I have yet to figure out how guns are so 'un-Christian' as some seem to suggest. Yeshua specifically told his followers to purchase weapons. Before one trip to Damascus, he reminded them to bring weapons and even conducted an inspection. But then, some people pretend lots of things about his teachings. Well, you make excellent points... So, the best defense of DOMA is that it provides the government more taxpayers and cannon fodder. I think I felt myself become a little more cynical just now... There are plenty of handgun safes on the market that you can just lay your hand on to feel the buttons for the combination. They often have an outline of a hand on them showing where your hand goes. Then, you can enter the combination by feel. If your vehicle has clearance under the seat (Jeep Wranglers do), you can attach one under the seat. Mine is upside down under the seat. All I have to do is reach under my seat, enter the combination, and a pistol is in my hand. The box can be secured to the seat post by a cable to prevent theft. I don't consider the biometric and fingerprint stuff ready for prime time. Nor do I see how it is substantially better than a simple combination lock. I've always voted for the hard truth. I think the very fact that you don't want to do it is an indicator that you should. It's hard. That makes it more likely to be right IMO. "aggravated homosexuality" - anyone else find this amusing? What, exactly, is it that homosexuals do that straight people do not? As far as the physical acts go, are we trying to abolish oral sex or anal sex? I certainly hope not. If it is a matter of gender, where do hermaphrodytes go? If we are going to put rules on what gender you can have sex with, why not race, religion, hair color, etc? Why does the government care? Probably a poor choice on starting points, but it looks like a slam-dunk case. Feds like those. Mixed feelings on the whole 'hate crime' thing. Yes, it is wrong. But should it be an enhanced sentence issue? Lots of things are wrong. And in the end, why someone harmed you does't make the harm greater or lesser. If this caucasian did the same thing to another caucasian, would the victim be comforted to know it wasn't a hate crime? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I think some of you guys would argue about anything. Personally, I teach people to practice muzzle control at all times. Yes, you have the person handing you the weapon clear it. Then, you clear it. But then, you still treat it as if it is loaded. You might put it down, not see someone else load it (doing you a favor) and then do something stupid. I NEVER aim a weapon at anything I am not willing to shoot. I NEVER put my finger on the trigger until I am ready to pull it. Just good practices to me. I didn't see anyone in the photo clearly being unsafe. But arguing about it is amazingly silly...even for SC. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I've built bookcases and such. I don't have the patience you have, though. Very nice work. I've mounted a few antique Japanese swords. Made some of the metal parts and all of the wood. I've made a few knives from scratch. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I agree with you fully as far as you go. One step further...why are there benefits to marriage? Or having children? Why should an individual's decisions give them greater rights / privileges / entitlements / benefits other than what they earn? Clearly. That's why it hasn't generated any debate ever. Interesting that you think it is a simple solution for everyone to agree with you. So, they really have been passing balanced budgets on time? I wonder why I can't find any mention of it anywhere. I trust the jury to apply justice to the specific situation more than I trust the legislators to tell the jury what is right in a specific situation. I think I made that clear. I understand that you disagree. You clearly think the US Government is composed of above average thinkers doing a great job. Cop-out non-sequitur. You refer to them as 'legislators' - the clue's in the fucking name. They write the laws (including mandatory sentencing), the juries try the people accused of breaking them. It isn't the other way around. Doesn't take much of one. I take no offense at you calling it a cop-out if you insist on discussing the issue. We've certainly discussed it plenty before. Myself included. It is certainly not, however, a non-sequitur. On the contrary, I am arguing that the government needs to be able to handle the simple and requisite tasks before tackling more difficult and controversial matters. My argument is 'first things first'. That is, by definition, sequential. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I keep hearing stories on the radio, TV, etc. I find it annoying. Can anyone give me a rational argument, within the context of a secular government / society, for government getting involved in personal relationships where everyone consents and nobody is clearly being harmed? Canada Supreme Court strikes down anti-prostitution laws

Several years ago, Alabama voted on whether to make prostitution illegal state-wide. It was usually illegal in counties or cities, but not state-wide. I voted against it. I lost, of course. While I hate many of the things that go along with prositituion, I don't see the transaction itself much different from a one-night stand. Everyone is entitled to their own choices as well as the logical consequences that follow. I don't see where the government or society needs to tell people how to live their lives if they aren't hurting anyone else. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
