Ummm....kale? And what the heck are chia seeds? Don't those come with a Chiapet? And you eat them? Does your butt sprout those little plant things during the night? Gross! I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Blasphemer!!! Oreos without milk is a violation of God's will! It's in the damn jingle, for goodness sake! "Ice cold milk and an Oreo cookie. They forever go together, what a classic combination." Repent before you are sent to Hell. (Place of no Oreos) Hope nobody is offended. I just REALLY like Oreos. +1,000 + 1,0001 But I'm a Double Stuffers girl with skim milk. Good lord, I want to make a sexual joke out of that... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. It just seems cruel to make fun of them. They make it too easy. I hardly know anything about them and I can tell how messed up they are. It's like a family of village idiots that found a way to get rich being village idiots. Or does that make them geniuses? Not sure. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Actually, if you really had such religious beliefs, I think there are exceptions. I know the Amish have issues with insurance, so they are exempt from some things. I think I heard that Obamacare gave them an out. Not sure. But good luck with your new religion Mr. Hubbard. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Many people were pissed and afraid. We lashed out at two countries that were on our shit list. Like most Americans, I was ok with that. It was the hanging around afterwards where we really messed up. Dan: You blew it when you suggested a little fee (tax) for holding your religious beliefs. 1st amendment fail there. Rush: I once read about a group that was supposed to be in Australia. Their name was 'Tolerance'. Their charter started out with two pages of things they were against. I guess they did not tolerate intollerance either? Am I the only one who thinks licking the spoon / bowl is the best part? Type of cookie is second as a priority. Give me the cokie dough and nobody gets hurt. That is annoying, isn't it. Sorry. Eh. As personality quirks go, referencing yourself in the third person is mildly amusing. I still want to BASE. I once came in entirely on riser turns and flared on back risers only. I had the toggles in my hands, but refused to use them. I just wanted to know I could do everything without them if they ever got away from me. I didn't stand up the landing, but didn't really plan / try to. I was given a hard time about it afterwards. Am I the only one who practices alternate scenarios? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I am often reminded of this quote when I am browsing some of the comments in SC. I consider myself chief among the fools. I find that the more I learn, the less I know. Just a random thought. I'll rephrase my reply to davjohns a bit, but my point is the same. What is the material difference between paying for health insurance for your employees which may or may not provide particular services and paying them directly with dollars which they may or may not spend on those same services? Does the employer have a right to decide what they want their employees to use their compensation for in one case but not in the other? This is a really good argument. So, you are drawing an analogy between how an employee spends his/her pay in dollars and how he/she spends his/her pay in healthcare. At that point, it only becomes one degree of separation. The bill for the health insurance goes directly to the employer, where the bill for the Wiccan Orgy Seance goes directly to the employee (am I the only one into that sort of thing?). Now, the question is whether that missing layer of separation makes it reasonable that the employer's religious beliefs are offended. I would say 'no'. The problem is that they payment by the employer for the offending service is being mandated by the government. The US Constitution says the US Government is supposed to stay out away from that sort of thing. So, it still goes to SCOTUS for a ruling. But I really like the argument. It makes it a very tough call in my mind. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I'm trying to come up with a useful analogy. Since I've rejected the ones offered, it's only fair. If the ACA required that circumcision be covered (I have no idea if it does), I would still object to requiring it. Why should an atheist employer have to pay for a religious practice? It's not a perfect analogy (most people don't count atheism as a religion and I don't know how circumcision would offend an etheist, but it sometimes does), but it gets the basic point. Hopefully, that helps illustrate my position. The question in my mind is which party is being handed a duty that offends their beliefs. It's not limiting the behavior of the people who don't subscribe. They do what they want. They can take pills, get abortions...whatever. The employer just doesn't want to pay for it. That (they claim) would violate THEIR beliefs. Wendy, I love you, but comparing birth control which prevents the non-health threatening consequences of a voluntary act with the health endangering consequences of an accidental exposure? Be fair. It's not like people with shellfish allergies are going around eating shellfish and demanding their employer pay for the consequences so they can go on eating shellfish. I'm not saying I agree with the employer. I just see that there is a potential 1st Amendment issue there. It appears the SCOTUS agrees. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; " You presented the analogy of unions. I pointed out that the instant case revolved around religion, which is protected in many instances. Unions are not in the US Constitution. IF it violates the relgious beliefs of the owners to provide birth control (indirectly), there is an argument for 1st Amendment issues. The 1st Amendment is a restriction placed on the government. There is no such restriction on government support to unions. It's apples and oranges. Personally, I don't see anything in any relgious canon about birth control...but I haven't read all of them yet. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Who needs an AR-15 when they could have THIS!

Those blasters always seemed unreliable to me. One shot would zip through a guy in bodyarmor. The next one would fail to go through an overturned table. (What the hell do they make Hollywood tables out of, anyhow? They always seem to stop everything.) I'll wait for the functional lightsaber. Those babies went through everything but another lightsaber. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. What really happens if the youth dont show up for Obamacare?
davjohns replied to mirage62's topic in Speakers Corner
No doubt. And that's one of the arguments for universal healthcare (or whatever we now have). The problem is that the healthy are not being charged according to their risk level. They are being charged to provide for people with greater risks. That could dissuade young people from getting insurance. From a pure financial standpoint, it is cheaper to pay the tax for not having insurance. I'm not arguing for or against universal coverage. I just think we went about it wrong. A flat tax to cover healthcare would have made more sense to me. The government running it, but leaving corporations in the middle just adds a layer of expense in my mind. Either make it public or keep it private. This hybrid monster seems fraught with peril to me. But it has the lovely benefit of allowing the politicians who screw it up to pretend its really the health insurance industry that's to blame...oh wait...I guess that was intentional, huh? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
Sorry. Just saw the stuff on Meal Replacement Shakes. I supplement with protein, but never use MRS. The most I ever used them was when i was away from whole foods (in the field). That was just because there was nothing better. In general, lean meat (minimal red meat), all the veggies you want (frozen and canned are better than "fresh" and green leafies are generally best), and moderate complex carbs will do you good. Avoid sauces, bread, sugars, and obviously fatty foods. Although you need certain fats, it is hard to get too little fat in your diet. I take a quality multi-vitamin / multi-mineral supplement. Its not necessary for most people. The demands I put on my body aren't 'average' so I take a supplement purely as insurance against something missing in my diet. On a typical day: Whey protein on rising. Supplement packet. 5g creatine and 10g glutamine added to protein. Breakfast - Six boiled egg whites. 1 cup oats. Piece of fruit. Skim milk. Mid morning - Whey protein. Possibly a piece of fruit. Lunch - Lean meat. Two veggies. Mid afternoon - Whey protein. Dinner - Lean meat. Two or three veggies. Maybe a salad. Romaine; not iceberg. Before bed - Casein protein. About a gallon of water throughout the day. This is much more protein than the typical person needs. But generally, the typical three meals with a lean meat and a couple of veggies and healthy snacks in between meals will set you right. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Republican alternatives to the ACA aka Obamacare
davjohns replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
I think you're falling into a classic over-statement. I don't imagine there are many Republicans who are truly anarchists. Personally, I want minimal government, but a certain amount is necessary. I'm pretty sure most everyone in the country wants to solve problems and not create them. The others are often called terrorists and criminals. For sick people, we have a pretty good healthcare system. People come here from the rest of the world to partake in it. As to poor...well...I doubt many people WANT poor people to exist. The problem is that some people are perfectly happy at a standard of living that you and I would never embrace. There are some people who just want a hand out and will not work to improve their status. That's just a fact of life. There are others who want a hand up and would be glad to work to improve their status. Some people are milking the system and some are not getting what they need and should get. The problem is how to make the system more efficient; not pumping in more or less money to the system. I don't hear anyone talking about that because making things work doesn't pit people against each other and get them out to vote. You seem to lean toward that, "Evil Republicans want to step on the little guy, keep people down, etc." Others lean toward the, "commie socialistic progressives" side. Personally, I think those are both constructs to allow parties to manipulate voter bases. Very few people who vote Democrat want to eliminate all national defense, throw open the borders, castrate people for making good money, abort all babies, etc. Very few Republicans are actually heartless when it comes to poor, immigration, healthcare, etc. There is some disagreement on how to fix things and where to draw lines. I really think those things could be figured out if it weren't for all the Conservitard vs Libertard rhetoric. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
You seem to be starting out with good info. Diet is at least half the battle. Depends on your past eating habits and personal discipline. For some people, diet is absolutely the hardest part. Casein is indeed a slow metabolizing protein. I use only Gold Standard. In my opinion and that of many others, it is the best quality protein. Because it is slow digesting, I recommend that you use cassein right before bed. It will give your system something to work on during the night that is virtually impossible to store as fat and will assist your recuperation. During the day, whey protein (still Gold Standard) is much preferable. Try to spread your nutrition over six to seven meals during a day. This increases metabolism and prevents getting hungry. When you get hungry, you are more likely to consume carbs. If you want to get lean, carbs kill. Try to restrict carbs to veggies and limited complex carbs. Water!!! I average about a gallon per day. Water has so many benefits to health and getting lean that it would take a while to lay out. Your workout plan confuses me. You work arms and abs, but only do cardio for the rest of your body? I would definitely look for a more holistic approach. If all you want is to drop a little and look leaner, diet alone could get you there, but it is much easier with regular cardio. It counter-acts the body's natural reaction of lowering the BMR when you reduce caloric intake or availability. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Why are you sorry? You're taking a calculated risk. It used to be part of the equation for success. I've said before...if the people who founded this country had to contend with the government we have now, they would have never made it.
