They are gas operated. Dragging a power cord around your fresh concrete might mess it up. Sometimes, power isn't available yet. If that one was electric, it would have quickly wrapped up in the cord and disconnected itself or at least followed the cord back to it's source. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

It has nothing to do with him being a golfer. It has everything to do with him being a HIM and her being a hot, naked HER. Forest for the trees, my friend. Forest for the trees. I agree with most of what was posted here. I'm also a SCUBA diver as well. Fortunately, my tubes seems generous and I rarely have issues. I take a decongestant before diving just to be safe. You might consider that the cause and effect that you are presuming is not correct. There might be an issue that is completely unconnected to the skydive and the arrival of symptoms at that time was random. If symptoms persist, I would ask for an x-ray at least. I have had the doctor examine me and see nothing, but see a raging sinus infection on x-rays. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Landing on your butt: risk vs likelihood?
davjohns replied to eatfastnoodle's topic in Safety and Training
I can't recall ever seeing a PLF at a dropzone. I've seen plenty of bad landings. Before every jump, I practice pulling my pilot. I practice pulling my cutaway / reserve. I attempt to build muscle memory. In military jumps, PLF is pretty well mandatory. So, we practice them before every jump. We attempt to build muscle memory. How often do you practice your PLF? I can't think of a time I saw anyone practice it on a DZ. I'm pretty sure this accounts for why I have never seen one executed on landing. Just an observation and possible reason so many people ride in on the keister. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I like it better than my factory diver, but only because the visor opens. Fit is about the same.

You are correct. They were not directed at you. I was just pointing out that he gave you his opinion without stating why. Of course, refusing to sign off is entirely his choice. I just think it would have been very helpful to explain why. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Nope. Nuh uh. Not gonna. Finally learned my lesson. Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys a pig. ETA: Andy - you are not the pig. There just happen to be a whole bunch of them in SC. Wanted to clarify that. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Understood. I just think it is hard to be disrespectful of the symbol when you are displaying it for the sake of pride. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I'm confused. Your first thought was luggage, so I figured you were a woman. But your last line says you are a guy? If you were a girl, I'd say stick with carryon. Thongs don't take much space. As a guy, I'd say stick with carryon. An additional pair of jeans and a couple of shirts don't take much space. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Quite the opposite. More power to you. I'm in Europe. The Brits have the Union Jack on so many things. Coffee mugs, tents, cars... I wish more Americans were proud of their country. Because studies show a substantial decrease in strength over time? Because he wants you to buy a new canopy so his business will prosper? Because he is afraid of being sued? Because design changes have made canopies so much safer that older designs are comparatively unsafe regardless of their age? Opinions are nice. Facts are better. Not sure what you are calling the most common chart. I just looked one up out of interest. I found it pretty conservative compared to my experiences with different canopies. Conservative is good. I just think there are more factors to consider than the X/Y chart allows for. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I saw your post when there were only one or two responses. I've waited this long to process my thoughts. 1. Kudos on having the courage to pursue happiness. 2. The nature v nurture debate continues. 3. Nature v nurture doesn't matter. If your happiness level is greater and you have not stolen that happiness from others, it is good. 4. People will often be uncomfortable with what they do not understand. Some will describe 'different' as bad because that makes their world more tidy. Not your problem. I think they call that a Labrador. Seriously, I think many guys are happy with that. It's all the things the woman expects of HIM that's an issue. A buddy once told me that guys marry girls hoping they will never change and get upset when they do. Girls marry guys with the intent of changing them and get upset when they won't. From memory: A woman pushing two toddlers in a stroller was surprised when a man asked if they were twins. She said, "No. They're two years apart. One is clearly larger than the other. One is blonde while the other has dark hair. And one is a boy; the other a girl. What would ever make you ask if they were twins?" The man replied, "I took one look at YOU and couldn't imagine anyone screwing you twice." I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. OK. You served. If you were Army or Marine, you should know this lesson already. If you were Air Force or Navy, maybe not. :-) If you don't get the answer you think is correct...ask someone else. Obstacles are those things you go over, around, or through to reach your objective. HD told me at one time that they no longer offered a discount. I asked someone else who promptly rang up my discount. For whatever reason, some cashiers will give you bad information on this issue. Also, if you are spending any substatial coin, ask to see a manager and negotiate. I was buying cabinets for my workshop once and noticed a piece of wood broken on a sink base unit. They gave me 50% off just for asking. I later realized that piece of wood was OSB because it was just for shipping. Oops. If you are buying major appliances or such, always talk to a manager. Even if you are not a vet, they have room to mark things down. But I still prefer the customer service at Lowe's. HD had outstanding service when they were trying to run HQ out of business. Then, it went down rapidly. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. If you knew you'd break on landing, what's your country of choice?
davjohns replied to format's topic in The Bonfire
That island where Wonder Woman is from...where all the inhabitants are ultra-hot women. I wasn't sure when I opened this thread if you meant landing a canopy or an airplane. I was returning to the States from a Mid-East country on an Air Force plane once. Before landing to re-fuel in Spain, I was told the brakes were faulty, repair parts were unavailable in Spain, so we would have an indefinite layover. I questioned how we discovered the brakes were faulty BEFORE landing and how we knew which parts were faulty BEFORE an inspection. I was informed Spain had no repair facilities, but great restaurants and bars, so the planes ALWAYS broke down there. Ditto for Italy, France, etc. If we had been re-fueling in a shit-hole, the pilot would have continued the flight without engines or the left wing.
