  1. Looks like the pulse is a step back from the stiletto. Similar glide characteristics in a less high-performance package. Seems to be an alternative to the Sabre2-Katana progression, filling in the gap behind the stiletto in performance. I recently got an email from John Leblanc about the stiletto not being a good progression canopy to the Katana and then Velo. They seem to consider it under a different branch. I was asking PD in general why there was no literature comparing the Sabre2 to the Katana since it seemed a more logical step, and one I've just made recently. Customer service kicked it up to him, and he replied that they hope to come out with new documents soon on the Katana flight characteristics compared to a Sabre2 because he felt that was a safer progression to the Katana than from a Stiletto. "The Stiletto is not really a step between the Sabre2 and the Katana, but it is a different animal altogether. Different strokes for different folks." Apparently there is a seminar he has given based on this idea titled: “The Two Paths of Canopy Progression.” To me, the Pulse would seem to be a step back in performance, ideal for those who want the glide of a Stiletto, but are not ready for an elliptical yet. In other words, a less swoopy version of a sabre2, with better glide characteristics. Progression lineup looks more like this? Swooping oriented: Sabre2 Katana Velo Not-swoop oriented: Pulse Stilletto I realize that I do not post often on these forums, so this may seem out of the blue, but I felt it was information I should share. I haven't included any of the other canopies because, frankly, I know very little about them.
  2. thanks, yeah, I decided against attaching that particular piece... thanks for the heads up just in case though - btw - I actually attached the clip to the cutaway cable housing on the side it normally attaches to the RSL ring to. I figure this 1) keeps it from flapping and beating me in the face 2) is a safe place to put it since the cable housing isn't going anywhere, and therefore the RSL is non functional and not a hazard there
  3. About to demo a friend's canopy. He's on a vector, I've got a javelin. I want to know if can just use his vector risers on my javelin, or if I need to change his canopy to my risers. They both look like 21" mini risers, though the RSL ring is not on the same side. thanks
  4. I currently jump a Sabre2 190, and am about to demo a friend's 170. I have a Javelin BOC and he has a vector w/ pull out. My understand is that the main bag and pilot chute stay with the container. In addition, our container's are not compatible with each other's deployment mechanism. I have transfered his canopy to my main bag. Question: His pilot chute is 27", and mine is 30/31" (I measured with a carpenter's measuring tape). Is this too large of a PC for the the 170? ie - is it enough to induce a line dump or the equivalent of a car crash on opening? Or will it be within acceptable limits (ie not creating a safety hazard, though it might be uncomfortable.) I am planning on checking with a rigger at my DZ as well, but I wanted to get a heads up on what he might say as well as second opinion.
  5. Firstly, I may just not know how to use the search functions properly, but this would be a VERY useful function: Allow the columns in the search results to be clickable, and thereby list the results by price, date, or alphabetically by title or poster. if this is already available and I just missed it, please let me know!
