ATTN: Ladies, do you want to see naked guy post whore glory?
DARK replied to KawiZX900's topic in The Bonfire
haha never saw this thread before im pretty shocked by its existence but hey whatever floats your boat ill leave all you americans to it dont think you could handle any irish in this thread -
I didn't list that poll option because I don't think there is any controversy with that one. I think that the vast majority of people wouldn't have any problem with that scenario. Thus, my poll is for the other side of that coin, where the passengers are not fully aware of the risks. And so far, it's 3-to-1 that thinks it's a bad idea. i would have also voted its a bad idea if i knew thats what you were asking sorry
-
firstly this might be my inexperience shining threw but with that out of the way i dont think you can compare it to aff really in aff there are many things the student is expected to do from my understanding of tandems the only thing they are expected to do is arch and move their hands if they remember when they are touched on the shoulders. i think if you sit a group of adults down and tell them you are looking for volunteers for a record attempt. it is an endurance record attempt and that brings with it extra risks and these are a, b ,c and then the adults in the room say they understand and accept the risks then everyone is on the same page and i dont see a problem with it again just so no1 thinks im preaching above my level or anything i only have 60 odd jumps and iv never done a tandem but thats just how it seems to me
-
i think if the passengers/students are informed off what is happeneing and of the possibility of extra risks then i dont see the problem also i would imagine that the vast majority of tandem customers consider themselves passengers and not students as they have no intention of continuing skydiving in anyway after. just because it can be used as a training tool does not mean that that is how it is being used

started inireland on static line course and was thought arch look locate release reserve arch after 6 jumps wet to the states and did aff and they didnt make me change eps and im pretty glad about that the way they were teaching their students seemed very convoluted

i hold out hope that its as obvious to everyone 'up there' as it is to me that these people have nothing to do with the political process and just because they call themselves whatever dosnt make it so assuming that is the case i dont see how there is any justification for any withdrawl from power sharing or anything like that i hope the dissident unionists can restrain themselves form any reprise attacks and if they do this could be dealt with and sorted very quickly i think -

terrible what happened last night alright i only heard an interview the other day saying they expect dissident activity to pick up over the next while i think the peace process and power sharing is way way too far advanced at this stage to be damaged by actions like these(although i suppose that depends on how many more are to come) until last night it was 12 years since a british soldier was killed in the north -
i just think that read the stickies is far better than do a search and you will know straight away if the answer is in the stickies so the thread can be closed immedietely one to three well put together sticky posts at the top with links to other threads were well formed debate has taken place on the subjects would benefit everyone not just the noobs
-
didnt read the whole thread do a search responce is bullshit but so are repetitive forums there is a simple solution and that is the proper utilisation of the sticky feature which imo is the responsibility of the forum in questions moderators. no having stickies in general discussion is a waste of a massive amount of information that has been passed on on this forum

i cant believe that any developed nation could seriously allow this to happen creationism is a religous opinion based on religous teachings and belongs in a religous class letting it into a science classroom is an absolute joke i hope it stays isolated to one state for your countries sake

ye thats the first thing that should of jumped out at me i suppose i am 4 years older than everyone i go to college with so im sure that has a big impression on how i judge what they do obviously i just got lucky with the two dzs i started jumping at both had party atmospheres at the appropriate time and very safety conscious attitudes the rest of the time i obviously just assumed everywhere else was the same i suppose my original post has kinda been answered and that i was naieve in applying the attitudes of the 50 or so skydivers i know to everyone else -

oh absolutely im not saying it dosnt happen iv seen it happen but calculated stunts are not what im talking about really i have no problem with anyone doing anything they personally want to do if it hurts noone else and they are informed enough to minimise the risk what im talking about is more along the lines of doing stuff drunk / high. jumping a camera at 50 jumps or wearing a harness thats far too big for you. you will get called out on these things in my experience also by regulation i mean things like an s+ta whose job it is to make sure everyone is safe and chews people out for doing stupid stuff. i dont know if they are resposible in anyway if something goes wrong but the s+ta's iv seen take their role very seriously to compare to kayaking who is the s+ta on the river? who is stopping people making sure their gear is suitable before they get on the water i just dont see this sort of thing going on. when someone drowns, as happened last year as iv explained, just because nobody is directly responsible for the drowning it doesnt mean it could not have been prevented by a simple attitude change anyway this isnt a personal attack on kayaking i used to be really into it so its just the easiest way for me to get my point across -

i understand that the way kayaking is done is relatively safe i just think that the attitude of kayakers iv met is not very conducive towards safety another example is iv tried to take up surfing recently an di know without a shadow of a doubt my surfing friends would let me know well in advance of me getting into a dangerous situation(surf thats too big reefs or whatever) whereas my experience of kayakers would indicate they would let me 'give it a shot' obviously the fact we use airplanes has a large thing to do with how strict our regulation but do you not think that skydivers attitude is a large reason we are allowed to self regulate(in the US i mean which is not were im from). so attitude influenced regulation not the other way around? -
to be honest at 400dolalrs thats a bargain i know a guy who cooks in a michelin star restaurant and apprently the place is more than a quarter million euro in debt, there is no money to be made in this type of food(in ireland anyway) its just for the love of it and the prestige that they do it
-
dont know if this has been said already but i dont think thinking about this and figuring it out for yourself at this stage is a bad thing. is it worth a twisted ankle? is it worth missing a few days of work because of an injury from skydiving? is it worth possiblly ending up in hospital over? etc etc not everyones answers are the same and i think weather you hurt yourself on your first aff or had plain sailing until your 1000th and femured these are questions that every skydiver needs to figure out for themselves at some stage, preferably before the decision is made for you other than that listen to the other more experienced people here about how to not mess up next time
