If I were you, I would read this thread again before accusing people of calling you a whuffo. Because clearly nobody in this thread has done that. Stop acting like youre 16
-
I also read that people who are planning on getting into BASE are encouraged to practice this.

Thats just whats reported (injuries) Theres more that arent reported. Like mine.

Any one know the story behind this???
Stuntbabex replied to Squeak's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Intentional or not, I still pooped my pants just watching this. -
Completely agreed. I went 86 jumps without a jumpsuit but at least i didnt have to pay for gear rentals! Rig is waaaaaaaaaay more important.

I agree with you Darkwing. I know I dont have a whole lot of jumps but I did notice an incredible difference when I switched from a Spectre to a Pilot. On the spectre I always got harder openings which is why I love my current Pilot so much. My openings on the pilot is about 1250ft so theyre super soft. And yes I packed them both the same.

When Dust Devils Attack

When I was in Peris for Nationals, during 4way, I opened and saw this thing flipping end over end at 2000 ft. I flew over to it, and it was a sheet of plywood. My team could have easily hit that in freefall. Could you imagine what that would do to you in freefall? A human body doing 120 mph hitting a sheet of plywood. OUCH! That cant be good for your gear. -
Congrats! Now youre officially addicted.

When Dust Devils Attack

I was told as a student to look for flying debris like plastic bags while under canopy. And if I smell poop theres probably one very close by. Gotta love Perris. -
Mine was altitude awareness.

I read that article last week and was actually wondering if that was you. There arent too many skydiving grannies after all! Well done and I could tell a lot of heart went into it.

Was this shot on saturday? If so I was in the bomb shelter giggling and being glad I wasnt under canopy. -
Did 183mph on a rodeo yesterday.

I couldnt agree more with you. I went to Lodi for the first time a couple months ago and was totally treated like family. It was really busy but the vibe was awesome.

May 3rd SKYDIVE PERRIS - KOJI Benefit
Stuntbabex replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah I was there when that happened too but I didnt actually see what happened. Heard it was a hard landing, thats all. Hope the person is alright. The KOJI benefit is totally rockin over there! -
When i did my tandem I was scared shitless. Then I gained a lot more confidence and trust in the gear after I did my ground course for AFF1. I am a little scared of heights but after my first landing on my own it got a lot better. Hopefully this is the case with you too. Just go with your gut on whether or not you should try it again or not.

To answer your question... yes. Yes the main chute turns into a cactus during a malfunction which is why you need to cut it away before deploying the reserve. ..or it will cut you.
-
I feel really bad that you didnt have anyone to warn you about this beforehand. I nearly got scammed for the same amount from some person in England. When I mentioned this "great deal" (1300 for a rig with both chutes and cypres) to my more experienced skydiver friends, they strongly recommended I check the serials. Thats how I found out it was a scam. Is there any way that we can have a big warning banner with a link to an article for first time rig purchasers on the classifieds page? It just seems like the little scam box doesnt do enough warning for newbies.

The main is salvagable but you'll have to get a new lineset after cutting all the lines away.

Skydiving: you screwed with my priorities in life ...
Stuntbabex replied to c1sc0's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
BWAHAhahaha similar thing happened to me right after I graduated AFF, my car got totalled and I used the insurance money to buy a used civic hatchback and used the rest to buy my first rig. -
Id be happy to fly through those too.
-
if I saw one of those in the sky I would aim for it, wasting the customers $2500. Yes Im evil.

I have pretty sensitive ears and used to always get ear infections and terrible pains in planes as a kid. Now its not so bad and Im able to skydive without much of a problem. On some jumps I had some terrible pressure pain on my ears on the way down and the only way to get rid of it was to pop my ears a couple times during the jump. I assume this has to do with the weather? I dunno Im not giving advice or anything. Im just sharing my experience, being someone who cant dive more than 8ft under water without getting unbearable ear pain. Like the others said, go see a doc if you think it will be that much of a problem
