This is an interesting question... I personally have an Electra 150 (9cell) which I love, but I am frequently jumping my dads Beta 155 (7cell). This is also a great canopy; I get great landings and it is really good for canopy control. I jump this when I do CRW with him and it is perfect. In his opinion 7cells can do everything except swoop - so if thats what you want to do then don't go there. For general skydiving purposes, especially if you are more into the freefall side of things my experience of both has shown that they are equally enjoyable. BUT... as everyone else has said do your research: it very much depends on what you want to achieve as to what you fly

thanks for all the help...i do really like the safire -I've been looking at different 7 cells coz I had a recommendation to get one as they are "all rounders" but its interesting to hear how others have found them..

first good aff video i have found on you tube
samanthacullen replied to minmal's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
its not about you tube hate....people just get a little upset when they feel that their pride and joy (this being the videos created with a lot of hard work and enjoyed by like minded people) is being disrespected. im sure you tube is great for vids and you know it well - therefore you find it easy to use. Im sure if you give skydivingmovies a chance you'll find its just as easy but with a lot more to offer you in terms of the sport. remember that this is a sport that a lot of people dedicate their entire lives to, and with that comes a fierce protection of the things they (we) love. blue skies -
yea! hasnt anyone here seen point break?? ....clear representation!

I found AFF the most amazing experience.. I was scared out of my skin as most people are but the thing that helped me most was breathing...I dont know how it works everywhere else or what kind of plane you jump from but Im sure this works wherever. After I climbed out onto the strut I would take a deep breath that completely calmed me before I took the plunge, do the same in freefall. before youdo anything take a couple of deep breaths and get your bearings, it makes the jump so much more fun! as for your landings do what everyone here is saying: talk to your instructors, and watch the way other people do it. You'll be fine and think how stoked you will feel once its done!

adventure tourism and skydiving
samanthacullen replied to samanthacullen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I stumbled across a thread discussing skydiving careers, but not wanting to divert away from the initial question im looking for info on a different one.. Im a kiwi in uni at the moment and totally disheartened with it, at the end all i will have is a HUGE student loan and an average teaching job that only earns around 40k a year. iv been looking into careers in adventure tourism and was wondering if there are any skydivers who work in this area (outside of skydiving, or perhaps even as well as) who could shed some light on the realitys of this life. I figure it would be better to be doing something that i love and that I can travel with, without spending the rest of my life paying for it. I would love to work in the skydive industry but dont want to turn something that i love into "just a job". is there anyone that works in adventure tourism and does parttime work in skydiving? how does it work out? -
