The Stabilrib... most canopies are built with a end rib, then a stabilizer it sewn on... The line attachment is actually on the lower surface with a bartack to the stabilizer... only problem there is... the stabilizer simply produces drag. It is not a structural part of the airfoil... (look at everyones stabilizers in flight... they simply flap from the passing air... look at the rest of the canopy, you won't see the lower or upper surface flapping about.) With the Stabilrib, we actually load the stabilizer, line attachment is made there... check out the website... (the outboard load bearing rib and stabilizer are one piece in the Stabilrib.) http://aerodynamics.com/Ground_Zero/PAGES/xaos21.htm With respect to the slider... Stainless is bullet-proof and HEAVY! We are able to get much sweeter openings with brass grommets... (Brass was a problem with Vectran because the line was so abrasive, it would wear through the grommets.) We include our "Wrap-it Links" -soft links- with all GZ canopies (and this "X" mod). We can not take apart an FX and recut ribs/surface panels/crossbraces, etc. But we can modify the endcells, install new HMA lineset and slider (and soft links) and give you improvement for considerably less than the cost of a new canopy... If you're at reline time, you may want to consider it... Chris

Hi Prost, We have had numerous requests to reline the EXTreme FX and VX's with HMA line. Initially we asked that anyone interested contact Icarus Canopies with the request. Currently Icarus Canopies does not have any experience with HMA and therefore is not able to meet the requests. After the requests continued, we finally gave in... (We continue to service ALL canopies we manufactured...) Relining an EXTreme with HMA required a bit of additional engineering. First we had to develop a lineset with a trim to fit the dimensions of the canopy... We do have all of the data on the canopies, not only including the airfoil, but also the lineset data for the Vectran CASCADED lineset. Because the HMA we use is very small (160 kg vs. 580 lb. Vectran), we build HMA linesets in CONTINUOUS lines only. This maintains better lower surface shape. We also install our "Stabilrib" and include a new slider. THIS DOES NOT MAKE AN FX A XAOS-21, (OR A VX A XAOS-27). The Xaos canopies have significant differences in the airfoil. From our experience, there is very positive improvement. (But it still ain't a Xaos!) For costs, etc... contact me (or Beezy) at Precision... 423-949-4688 or email... chris@precision.net or beezy@precision.net *Hey, I'm so sure you'll like it... I'll put our 30 day satisfaction guarantee on this mod... Chris p.s. Inhouse, we refer to the mod as X-FX and X-VX...

a Lazer 8 ? I was in a 3 stack one time with my Pegasus (7 cell), A Lazer 8 (8cell), and a Falcon (9 cell)... pretty neat 'cept the Lazer 8 has center a lines meet on the same line attachment loops... had to work to get your feet between 'em to plane down... Chris

WINNER!! wild blue and michele... see the winning answer and pics on the skydiving talkback, "any guesses" thread

Wild blue got it... (even though Michele was hinting around the "connector" idea first.... maybe they both win...) Attached is a pic of the "P9" connector and a standard L-bar connector... these were used on old older round (reserves primarily, but also mains). The current L-bar is still used on tandem reserves in many cases... What makes the P9 unique is the way the method for closing the l-bars... (the P9 is on the top and the standard L-bar below...) You'll notice the threaded piece in the middle has both left and right-hand threads to pull the two pieces together. There is also a hole in the right side that matches a hole in the (right) threaded peice...My guess is that when fully threaded, you can then safety with it shut? Congrats wild blue and Michele... you each win a $100 merchandise credit for any Precision product. E-mail to claim your prizes... ( chris@precision.net ) Now, there are more replies to this topic than to Lisa's post on long distance love... lets all get back over there and supprot Skybytch... Chris

Alan, ssssshhhhhhhh! that's the secret stuff... oh well, the Xaos-27 was to make it's debut on the mountain, but I guess it's FIRST public appearance was here on Dropzone.com... BEEEER!!!

Jo, no the wedding ring is no secret... everyone who knows me knows that i'm very proud to be married to the sweetest girl on the planet! here's a picture of me and Kristi in Belize... kinda overcast that day, but sailing a 32' Bristol with our new Brit buddies was a trip we had to make!

no... not used on the daisy cutter... used on parachutes though... keep the guesses coming, answer given at 4:00 pm cst... here's a little more hint...(see attached pic..)

nope... looks like this thread is getting a lot more hits in the "skydiving talkback" forum under thread name "any guesses".. follow it there... pictures also... Chris (it's getting almost as many hits/replies as lisa's "dear john/long distance" post!)

Michele's getting warm!
-
it's not a parachute... (hint hardware...) Keep the guesses coming... lots of 'em in the general forum too (I posted in a few places)... If we don't get the winning answer by quittin time tomorrow, I'll post a pic of it... Chris
-
oh shit! it got me!
-
still no winners... interesting guesses though... i'll keep watching for winning answers, if no one can get it by quitting time tomorrow, i'll post a picture of it... no not a canopy hint hardware... this is the wildest one of these i've ever seen... i have a feeling it may be russian, not sure though. it was on a pcht-7 canopy. keep the guesses coming! Chris

ok... I've posted it in the other areas and no correct answers from the general public, nor from the riggers... Hopefully you smart swoopers can answer this one... On a trade-in canopy I found an interesting piece of hardware... What is a "P9"? Chris

no winners yet.. I'm looking thru poynter's manuals now... don't think the answer is in there... Chris
