Zennie, I don't BASE yet. This is coming from my experience as a paraglider pilot with paragliding sites. In the US we all belong to the USHGA ( United States Hang Gliding Association) .We apply for ratings depending on our hours, experience and a test. P1,P2,P3,P4,P5(beginner,novice,intermediate,advanced,master) . All local clubs manage their own sites and the sites are given ratings for the appropriate skill level needed to fly the site. If it's a P4 site (advanced) it will usually be called P4/P3 sponsored (depending on the difficulty). Meaning that a P3 can fly it under the supervision of a local P4. With some of our P4 sites, after 5 sponsored flights, the P3 is then cleared to fly the site solo. This is how we manage our sites, thought it might help. Mik

Was just talking to a skydive buddy about the fabric colour dye adding weight to the canopy. He was saying how white is the lightest color fabric and how certain colours and fluorescents can add a measurable amount of weight . Can this possibly slow extraction and opening or is it negligible ?

Yo Mate , you said it , Continuum rules. Kenyon and the crew did an excellent job. Nice shots, angles and tunes. Kenyon if your out there, when can we expect Continuum 2 ? I for one can't wait , Mik

K, Thanks for the info. Didn't mean to be pointy , it's just that your reply sounded so much like an advert I had to ask

Karen, How many of the " Pro Base Jumpers" in the Malaysian event are sponsored by BR ( free or discounted gear counts ). Just curious

Even if your not jumping try to re- pack your rig at least once a week

I paraglide also. I've never heard of a negative spiral ( have heard of a negative spin ). Are you referring to a SAT manuever ? Anyway, Mad Mike Kung, the acromaniac , recently went skydiving and had the boys at the DZ freaking while he was pulling SAT's , Heli's and Loops on his skydive canopy.

Has anyone ever seen an air freshener ( you know like those Christmas tree air fresheners you hang in your car ) with the scent of jet fuel exhaust ?

Dear Sneaky, email me at sooperflyboy@aol.com I'll take you up.

Clarification. Faber thank you for your reply. What gear would you recommend for a 500 ft tandem paraglider jump ? My base altitude of 8000' is the msl of the ground I'll be landing on . I live in Colorado . Thanks

I'm an accomplished paraglider pilot with 50 skydives so far . I plan on jumping more and attending a FJC this Spring or Summer . Afterwards I would like to start base jumping from tandem paragliders from 500-3000 agl . I'm starting to look into gear and would like to learn how to pack prior to my FJC . The base altitude for most of my jumps will be around 8000'. I'm looking for any gear recommendations you might have . Thank you

Clarification. Thanks for the responses. What I'm really looking for is a FAR that I can make a copy of and carry in the event of a "forced landing" and encounter with an irate landowner. I thought carrying some type of document could diffuse a possible situation.I also fly paragliders and sometimes on cross country flights landing options are limited.I've checked the FAR 105 and didn't see it covered there.I just wrote a letter to the FAA and will post any results. Does anyone know of an FAA regulation that would permit a unpowered ultralight to legally perform an "emergency landing" onto private property ?
