MAIN!!!!!!!!! I know, I know, it isn't the world's biggest achievement, and I don't acutally have it yet.....but I will soon!! I bought it yesterday. It is only the 2nd main I've had since I started jumping. I can't wait to get it so that I can jump again!! Yeah it is really cool when little kiddos at the dz can tell you their mom or dad under canopy. One kid saw his dad cutaway...I was like, "Who cutaway?" and he said, "That was my dad!" Wasn't upset either. Pretty darn cool. I hope I am correct in believing my family understands why I jump and that I am as careful as I can be. They went through the "terrible TEENS" with me so they were probably worried about me dying from a drug overdose or a car accident and now that the worst thing I do is skydive, they rest assured. I hope anyway. I was in a car accident on Monday, the first time in years, and it was very scary. I am going to court over it, they are suing me. Makes you really appreciate life, you know? I was just glad no one got hurt...they are out looking for money. GRRRRR When my family found out I was in an accident, they knew more than ever before, how anything can kill you, not just skydiving. Also that money isn't as important as life... A point I am trying to make is that I have tried to verbally and personally express my feelings to my family while I am alive. I think a letter is a nice gesture, it just isn't for me. Everyone is different though, and if you think it is the right thing to do, then by all means do it. You are a wonderful mom, Pammi, and your kids adore you. I know Merrick understands your passion for jumping since he does it too... It is more than honorable that you want to be there for your family and don't want to be selfish about your "fun" at the expense of the kiddos and family. I think you have always worried about it, and that is OK. That's better than having a "who cares" attitude! I think you can integrate skydiving and family life though, and if you do it properly, no one will question your priorities. OK long winded enough? Sorry guys. Good Lordy...here we go again! Let's change the direction of this thread, kewl? I was hoping it would be about whether ya'll thought Rantoul sounded like a good place or not. Also wondering if you thought it would really "fly" (pun intended!) and if so are you planning to go? I apologize to some of the grumpies around here if this was already discussed on a previous thread. I don't post or read here nearly as much as I used to, (I actually have a LIFE now!) so it is very difficult to keep up with what's going on. So, now that my disclaimer is posted, here goes: I would go if it was in Rantoul, but probably only for about 3-4 days since the Nationals are only a month later and we are going for part of them (money issues). I am going to Nationals with the 4-way team Perry is shooting video for(moral support! you guys know I don't do RW! hehe) and so I would be cutting it close as far as money is concerned. Anyway, I think this year's WFFC will be more fun than last year's. For me, anyway, because I have more jumps and better skills, etc. Not nearly as much to worry about. Also, I think a new venue might have a better atmosphere than last year's. I had not attended one prior to last year, so I have nothing to compare it to, I did have a great time but I think I could have had a lot more. To sum up, I will take myself and my new rig wherever they have Quincy this year!! It is only like, six months away...time flies!! We watched that last night. We decided that the frosted blonde looked and acted as if she was not all there. Like, on drugs or something. She was just screaming "Bimbo." Girls...I know your pain. Personally, I was too hungover to get up early and go to the dz this morning and make a couple of jumps before I had to leave for work. I have to be there in...20 minutes. Yo! I would love to hear stories about the Freak Brothers Convention (or other jump stories from that time, etc.!) I have heard or read a few stories about the beginning of freeflying starting back with Roger Nelson and others (sorry I don't remember all the names!) "Freak Flying" or...the "Lazy Boy," a laid back (literally) version of a sit-fly...but I don't know the whole story. I specifically would like history about the Freak Brother's Convention and how it was a preview (?) of Quincy. No, I am not a reporter. LOL Just a history-curious skydiver whose nickname ought to explain it all. hehe... I just think everyone should know about the history of the sport and really DIG the "veterans!!" There isn't enough info. about early skydiving to begin with (although, I do recommend "Skydivers Flying With Their Pants on Fire! by Tom Craighead, as well as books by Dan Poynter and Pat Works...)but still there just doesn't seem to be enough going through the grapevine. Nobody knows what Freaksister means, so I take that as a sign that we haven't evolved much? LOL J/K See, I don't know if they even had Freak Sisters back then. From what I've heard, they didn't.
