vertical separation after breakoff
coconutmonkey replied to ScratchTX's topic in Safety and Training
Had a freid try that as a "not part of the plan" trick a couple years back. He lost his sense of direction when he went steep and tracked under me before pulling. A quick side slide (as I had just stopped tracking to pull) avoided the canopy blossom but required a thrashing once he was on the ground. He never knew how close he came to ending his time in the sport and the planet as he never looked directly overhead before pulling. WOuldn't recommend it after that Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range -
Trying to get it to deploy at altitude isn't too difficult, but it won't be just a potato you're launching anymore. It requires increasing your projectile tech to a mechanical device for balistic stability and for delaying the activation of teh chute. I can play with the idea a bit and see what the hardware store has to offer for cheap solutions. Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range

Lots: 11 : 1 Lots of big explosive fun at the CSS 4th o' July boogie. Raefordites converged for a memorable party and jumpin weekend. Myself, Tony T, Arvel S & Jim B contributed many large booming things to the evening sky for the 3d & 4th. Much fire and nignoggery was had by all! 10 cool jumps from the CSS CASA fleet. 1 for beeing a towed jumper on a Casa. Small eye bolt for the static line towed jumper retrieval system caught the leg strap of my rig resulting in a couple thuds before hauling myself back into the plane. Still made the last formation (after a quick gear check) before breakoff. Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range

I feel your pain. FOr some reason I can navigate flawlessly through far off countries with signs in languages I have no idea how to read much less understand. Yet, when presents with a North Carolina highway construction area and the Department of Transportations complete ineptitude for marking routes and detours, I end up getting a great tour of counties and towns I never knew existed.... Just keep the faith, a sense of humor and never let the tank get inder half full! Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range

I have had my S/L I for a couple years now and have the good fortune to be able to maintain it through mostly molitary club students. When those are not available, I'll assist in ground iinstruction for the AFF on general course work or with tandem progression students. When the time comes available for the AFF-I course, I have little doubt that it will be much easier with a couple hundred Tandem/SL/Coaching jumps with students and non-licenced jumpers under my belt. As Slotperf has pointed out tho, maintaining if there isn't already a prograam in place at your DZ causes an issue. Might suggest starting one if the SL-I course is already available. THe nice thing about the SL/IAD programs is that they are a good deal for those of us who startted jumping on tight budgets and can allow for more current progression for those under toight budget constraints. Don't waste your time with the legal crap. Let's strap his ass across the cannon and scatter his belly-guts all about the county! Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range -
Considering that I have met several General Officers who were female, I doubt this is accurate. Recruiters need every slot they can fill and would not turn down a very qualified recruit. Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range

An AC-130 doesn't do the Nap strike as we don't use the stuff as a rule anymore. The 105mm Howitzer on board, however, is a real crowd pleaser Hearts & Minds 2 to the Heart- 1 to the Mind- Home of the Coconut Lounge, Spa, & Artillery Range
