    Last AFF level huh? Well, that's pretty much what I think the recurrency jump I've heard about is which would be doable. I'm just gonna have to hit the DZ tomorrow and find out what they need me to do!

    Got hurt in the middle of May in the middle of working on my A license. Planned to go back a couple months later and dropped a steel block on my foot and busted it all to hell. I'm finally healed and really want to get back to working on my A. I can't really find any USPA rules on what I'm supposed to do :( Anyone know what folks do in this situation? I figure I'm not the only person to get hurt for a few months in this sport! Pass a recurrency jump and just keep on goin? Thanks!

    Well dang. I mean, I've only got four jumps that aren't signed, my other 7 were AFF, but I guess I'll start having someone sign off my logbook every weekend. Can any licensed skydiver sign off for another or should it be an instructor?

    Not only that, but those jumps need also be signed! Got nailed on that when I went down there. I log but don't get them signed. Sort of a thread jack I guess, but I'm still really new and I have never heard of needing to have your logbook signed for anything...should I be having someone sign off on each jump I log?

    Thanks for all the input. I've read through a number of the safety articles this morning (I don't have a computer or internet at home so I had to wait until I got to work this morning) including Bill Von's RSL myths. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid situations like this in the future!!

    Yeah, I checked the rig on the ground before putting it on, another person checked it in the loading area, and an AFF instructor checked it on the plane and nobody saw anything wrong. I DID NOT check the RSL routing. There are obviously a LOT of things I still have to learn. I went over RSL routing with our rigger after this happened and this coming weekend I hope to be able to sit down with someone and go over an entire rig for my benefit.

    Yeah I think I heard that mentioned as a possibility, but I would think that would be a pretty obvious problem during a gear check, ever for a newb like me...

    Can't really be sure but we assume the RSL on the rental gear I was using got mis-routed or some of the slack got out loose from under the flap. I must be really lucky because I got TWO parachutes that time! I accept the fact that I WILL have malfunctions but I really didn't expect to see one this gnarly on my 10th jump. The worst part of it all was that that was the first jump my dad had ever been present for. Anyway, PLF'd on a pretty slow soft landing and just barely scraped up my arm so everything worked out ok and I was able to find the free bag in about 3 minutes so that was good. I got numerous gear checks before loading up by myself as well as others including instructors and on the plane and I pulled at 4K so the AAD didn't fire. Anyway, the next jump was awesome and I'm glad nobody let me chicken out and go home before jumping again! Thanks for all the hugs and high fives everyone!

    The only Aviator I can find searching DZ.com is the helmet made by Arrow Dynamics. The review says it will now incorporate a molded internal pocket for an audible and do away with the external attachment. Well, the Arrow Dynamics ink does not work so I'm wondering if Square one is making this helmet now. The S1 Aviator looks just like the Arrow Dynamics Avaitor. Am I right? Also, for the price the S1 Aviator looks like a pretty good first helmet. Any opinions on this? Thanks guys!

    I was passing by the DZ yesterday while working so I stopped in and chatted with the DZO for a bit. I asked him about a climb out on my solo this weekend and he said he had no problem with me doing it. He was also my level seven instructor so he got a chance to see me fly. If it's not hard I don't really think there will be a problem. I climbed out of the 182 on my level two. I know it's different but oh well. I'm in this to have fun and since I know I can get stable quickly I don't think this is too risky. I guess this weekend we'll see if I actually do it...

    You may be right. When I think back, most (if not all) the people I've seen do it have had cameras on at the time. It's a small step behind the door on the outside so they're standing outside the plane just behind the door looking forward while others prepare to exit at the same time.

    I see the more experienced jumpers climb out of the Otter, stand on the little ledge while holding a handle bolted to the top of the plane and I want to do that. Is there any reason I shouldn't on my first solo exit? I just graduated AFF on Easter and I want to do a backflip off the plane. Unless it's a bad idea and I'm getting ahead of myself...

    I was stoked for this season especially with LA beating the Ducks in Jolly Old in the season opener. Then it just started going downhill. And then it got worse. Then even worse. And now my team is last place.

    At some point I'll have to land downwind again for whatever reason, I just don't think doing it on my seventh jump was brilliant. I did get a "good job" from one of the instructors for not freaking out and trying to turn it around so close to the ground. I banged myself up and lost a few drops of blood but he told me I made the right choice to not turn. No matter what I walked away and I'll be back this weekend.

    Get used to the fact that stuff like that is not gonna look shiny new for very long. I'm totally confident in my abilities to destroy almost any piece of equipment I pay for myself and I understand that nothing I use is gonna look new forever, it's just that it looks as if I hung out a car door at 90 miles an hour and dragged it face down on the asphalt! I really fucked that landing. On my graduation jump no less!

    suck ass. What does everyone use to get a super scratched Altimaster face back to shiney condition (or at least good enough to read easily)? I was told a good automotive rubbing compound would work. Any suggestions?

    My buddy and I just finished co-op story last night. Took us about 7 hours which was a pretty big disappointment. We've been waiting for this game for a LONG time. We co-op storied the OG Vegas, then managed our way through ALL the terrorist hunts (even the downloaded maps) on both difficulties and all three densities. I can't stand CoD though. Same with HALO. For some reason I can rock R6 but I just suck at these two. Army of 2 was badass though. I'm not sure why I don't see more people talking about this game... Question: In R6V2 there is a assault rifle you unlock called the M468. Does anyone know the idea behind this? Is this just an M4 chambered in 6.8 SPC? ETA: Googled it and answered my own question. The M468 is indeed an M4/M16 chambered in 6.8 SPC. The upper is a new piston powered upper made by Barrett and designed to just replace the 5.56 uppers on existing rifles. I love Google.
