He said it had 500... Most of the fabric is in really good condition... I think it blew up and landed in a chemical plant, then was sent to pd to be worked on.

A friend's Stiletto 120 that had no patches, tears, or other problems to speak of... So i inspect it and it has the following: -spots on the seams that are very porous f111. The fabric surrounding is zero p but its like something ate the silicon off it. The fabric passed the thumb test though so there is strength there. -4 patches all across seams (very good work though) -very severe cross port fraying. -A tear in the top skin less than 1" from the tail seam. On a side note: how can you correct crossport fraying and what would you do about the porous spots? I think he should get some money back at least. What would you do? Thanks

Its better than the $100 a bottle the millenium was going for There are already comparable beers with infused chocolate for $4 a pint at the most expensive. I'd try those instead.

I know a lot of people wanted it. We thought a jumper here was going to get it but he wound up with 667. I was a little late in the picking to get that. I had to settle with #666 at Rantoul :)

Would you use a wind tunnel in Raeford, North Carolina
base698 replied to ParacleteAero's topic in Wind Tunnels
I do know the companies involved. All I was saying was for MY personal convience I'd like it closer to TSP. It was a mere joke, you don't have to be a big ass-monkey about it. I've never been to Raeford and have no problem with them. -
I like all types of coffee. Fresh ground straight, with cream and sugar, or just cream. Espresso drinks like Latte's Mochas Cappucinos and even straight up. I think its a sin to add sugar to espresso drinks (unless its chocolate) though.

Would you use a wind tunnel in Raeford, North Carolina

It would definitly be cool. I'd use it and would like to work there as well. Only thing I'd say is build it a little closer to TSP :) -
Anyone ever done it? I talked to Bill Booth about it and apparently he sells a document with more detailed specs. Anyone know of any other alternatives?

I recently had a moment like this, however I think it was justified. Someone put a massive hole in my freebag, so I was a touch angry about it.

That was the problem I forsaw with tacking. Yeah the only time I see this as being a problem is if the cutaway is pulled unintentionally BEFORE you pull your main, or on a pilot chute in tow where you cutaway first. Otherwise it'd be impossible... The housings on this rig (when not attached) naturally seems to want to lean forward this made it possible for the middle ring to snag the housing on release. In a real world situation with wind I think it'd make it less likely but still possible. Probably not something to worry about but it puzzled the hell out of me when I was detaching the main and it refused to release.
-
I think if you tack the cutaway housing to either the second housing on the right riser set or the left riser housing to the binding tape then it can't move out from under the mudflaps enough to move around in front of the 3-ring. The problem with this is the tacking could hold the housing closer to the rig when the main is open normally and cause a harder cutaway because of increased tension on the three ring loop.

I was repacking a friend's reserve today and when I took the main off I pulled the cutaway handle first. I then opened the container and pulled the right riser set off then the left. When the left started to release the cutaway housing jammed up in the three ring and would not release. I imagine the only way this would happen would be if the cutaway was pulled and the main opened sometime later. Something to look out for it someone dislodges your cutaway in freefall. Another situation this could occur would be after a pilot chute in tow where the main didn't release right after you opened the reserve.

I just went to Tom Dolphin's school in Missouri (He used to help Dave DeWolfe's with his). It was definitly an experience and I learned massive amounts. I packed everything from a Vector 1, 2, 3, to Centaurus, Mirage, Strong Tandem, Javelin, Dolphin, and many more. They had literally everything you could imagine to pack. Its extremely intense so go prepared to WORK. I had several 16 hour days of packing... I just finished my 4th paid repack too

The concerns most people have about it seem to be: lack of infastructure and feasibility of everyone using it. The lack of infastructure isn't that big of a deal because it can be stored just like diesel and processed in refineries. I think if we recycled all the vegetable oil, didn't burn soybeans and corn to keep market prices down, and used higher oil vegetables then it'd be feasible for wide scale usage. One of the huge advantages now is that normal diesels burn it with little or no conversion and its cheap. Besides most emissions are lower aside from nitrogen oxide, and you can use that to make whip-its for all the hippies I just found out about it and wish I'd of gotten a Turbo Diesel instead of the car I got :)

Well you're an idiot for presuming that i jump there anymore or that I agreed with it.

I think I'm an anamoly. I do carry extras just in case, but I've never lost one on a skydive. I have 1100 jumps and all but 3 done in contacts. The only time I lost a contact was on a 14 second delay with no goggles on a base jump, and I just lost one. I also reguarly jump in sunglasses. Mine are just glued to my eyes apparently. Glasses on the other hand I've lost 2 out of the 3 times I've jumped with them :)

Basically his philosophy is that everyone can get out safely on one pass and make it back to the dz. This is true because essentially what happens otherwise is that people that too long int he door and hose the people in the front of the plane. If you don't allow go arounds the people in the front tend to bitch alot and quicken things up

How do you tack them down? They are slipping out on a rig I was just working on. Do you push them back in and then sew through the riser with super tack? Could just go through the insert "casing" for lack of a better term?
-
I did already that is why it took 5 hours

my first for pay reserve pack. Jesus that was hard. You know what they say though. If it was easy everyone would do it
-
Well maybe your hardware is just brittle because of your ultra gaseous nature. Come to think of it I shouldn't have brought my rig in the packing room...

If you go a few hundred jumps with a helmet then suddenly don't wear one you realize how loud freefall is. If anything a helmet might save your ears

Likely, spyware has invaded your computer and placed the same ad on other ad sites. Try going to other sites and see if the same ad pops up--if it does then run adaware or some other spyware removal program.
