I am doing some basic research for college and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. We are studying 'materials and their purposes', and I chose the parachute fabric (particularly ram-air parachutes). I need to come up with some 'features' of this material which make it suitable for the job. Any advice on the choice of material, and its advantages over alternatives would be much appreciated. I was wondering if you could help me come up with some, before I research them. All I can think of are: Lightweight Low Porosity Durable high tensile and shear stress pliable Can you think of any others? Also, some good sources of information would be great. I sent an email to PD a couple of weeks ago but have not recieved a reply yet. Thanks

I started AFF mid october in 2007. Only done 3 jumps. I'm paying as I go so I can afford it. -
The actual difference in performance is minimal if it is the same clock speed but it improves the battery life by around half an hour or so.

1000mg of ibuprofen???? Over how long? Thats 5 tablets isn't it?
-
Its more efficient, allowing higher clock speeds, and uses less battery power. Its also smaller I think.

Anyone seen "Shoot 'Em Up'. Downloaded it the other day. Has a scene with a gun fight in free fall
-
I've only done 3 jumps and have had two line twists which took a good few kicks to get out of.
-
Did my level 3 yesterday in partial clouds. During freefall, I went through some clouds and got snow on me. Boy that was cold. I went into a bit of a spin but i still deployed my parachute. Redoing the level soon.

I saw it in the movies and I thought it looked fun. As soon as I turned 16, I signed up for AFF, and have been struggling to find time, and money, to complete the course. Doing my AFF level 3 this weekend.

I spent today waiting around all day However, I can't go up to the DZ that often. It takes around 50 mins to get there and my parents aren't too keen on driving me out there without a result Also, it's quite hard for someone my age to socialise with all of these skydiving pros :D. Most people look at me and think im a kid.
-
Im quite a newbie and rather than pestering the DZ on the phone every weekend, im trying to work out whether the weather (that sounds odd :p) is jumpable or not. Would you say around 10mph winds are on the borderline as well for students?

How, why and too what extent do they make skydiving unsafe for an inexperienced skydiver? Thanks
