Because it tends to be Americans claiming their country is the best, their justice system is the best and their form of government is best. And, it tends to be americans willing to kill to make the rest of the world like them. If you are going to stand around beating your chest like Donkey Kong, you are going to get some attention. Really? What realistic chance is there of that actually happening? And how far do you think they'd get? Between the cops, the feds, the National Guard & other armed forces; how far do you think they'd get before they were stopped? An attack by a decent sized group on a hotel (like in Mumbai) or a shopping mall (like in Nairobi) could produce significant casualties. But they'd never get out (like in Mumbai & Nairobi). To think that a large group of Muslim extremists could march across GA like Sherman is ludicrous. Even if (and it's an almost impossible "if") they could get past the cops, feds and army-types, every single "Bubba" or "BillyBob" with a gun would be out gunning for them once the news broke. And there's a lot of those. Not just in Georgia. All they'd have to do is pick the right target, with lots of people. It would be a one-time thing and they know that. Just like the 9/11 hijackers. That said, I have enough trust in our homeland security, CIA and FBI agencies that have been listening and tracking these people to blow the plots up before they're put into action. She was disciplined because, by her own choice, she was hired to be part of the public face of ESPN (for which she's presumably very well-compensated), which means that she must comport herself properly, especially when out in public, and not do anything that would damage the public image of her employer, whose stock in trade is its public image. Yes, it's a code of (especially public) conduct more burdensome than the average schmoe must adhere to, but it was part of the deal in exchange for her compensation. I can almost guarantee you that her (presumed) employment contract's language supports this; although even if she has no contract and is an employee-at-will (which I doubt) the implied terms of her employment would still support this. In simplified terms, she's a public figure representing her employer and is held to a higher standard of conduct. Not all that different from college football players who represent their universities. Represent the school with class and dignity, and you'll play.
