Haven't flown with, or met Chris, but he's helped me out with learning to be a DiverDriver, through email/PM's/his awesome site. Pilots that I have met and been very impressed with are Chad in Caulita, Roger, Jim West, and Ryan (the guy who flies the Beech 18 Westwind) -- Hook high, flare on time

Jump number requirements for swooping?
Spy38W replied to listo's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The USPA has a program in place that directly mimics the FAA on controlling what type of wings a person can fly. Both organizations let the pilot decide what the person decide what they want to fly. I think the FAA puts more emphasis on suggesting getting training, and using judgement to decide what would be appropriate for a person to fly. Other than that, the biggest regulators for airplanes are the insurance companies. A person who lands from their private checkride could go out and buy a turbine airplane and fly it with no further instruction (except a high performance sign off, which could be gotten in an aircraft with >200 HP, usually in less than 5 hours.) So far as aerobatics, no special sign off or training is required, but it is suggested that a person gets aerobatics instruction from an instructor. I personally know a guy who bought a Pitts S2-C (aerobatic) with 50 hours of flight time. -- Hook high, flare on time -

I'm not sure about Mirage Systems, but I know Sunrise either gives the inserts to you with purchase of the H/C, or you can get them for free by requesting them. The Sunrise inserts are a smaller version of the cutaway cable housing. You take out the yellow lolon cable, put the inserts in, then re-insert the lolon cable into the inserts and tack them down. This helps prevent a hard cutaway if the line twists go down to the risers which could bind the cutaway cables into the risers without the inserts. -- Hook high, flare on time

Damn man, thats scary and amazing at the same time. Glad you made it ok. I recieved my riser inserts 2 days before I had a major spinner/diver, and worry about what might have happened if I hadn't had them. -- Hook high, flare on time

Mebbe we can get a hi-res picture of each state, and find a person from each state to volunteer to mark all the DZ's in the state. I'll do Florida if the idea sounds good -- Hook high, flare on time

Check out the Racer manual and see how the RSL is hooked up, and think about what would happen if you chopped your main with a two out and it connected -- Hook high, flare on time

I love my Rawa, got a PC101 in it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_threaded;post=318214;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC; It does have a little flat top thing, but check out the pictures in the link above and see what you think. Ordering information is posted later in the thread. -- Hook high, flare on time

And here's one of it hooked up and outside of the D-bag... Was hoping to jump it today, but after I dropped off the boss I flew to the DZ and found that the winds were too insane to land an airplane, much less a canopy, so I just spread it out and did a full line check and tightened the rapide link from the canopy to the d-bag/PC to the canopy. Funny, I really hated the colors when I first opened the box, but less than 48 hours later it's starting to grow on me.

Because I have to fly early tomorrow morning and I know if I go out, I'll hurt myself. I keep getting calls from some friends at a local bar, but don't want to go there because they always feed me insane amounts of alcohol there for free. -- Hook high, flare on time

Hrm, perhaps you should seek counseling?
