I rode the plane down a few times myself after my level 4 reserve ride. There wasn't one person that gave me crap or even joked at the time. What it took for me to get over it was simply time and the desire to have a license to skydive. If you are into reading about human behavior there are several books out there. One of the better books that I've read several times is Brian Germain's book "Transcending Fear". There is no reason to rush it. The sky will be there and when you're ready you will know it.

Joao Tambor has a video on backflying. It is very informative. I believe it is the first video in a series of three: Sitflying and Headdown are the other two although I don't think the headdown video is out yet. Check out Para Gear I'm pretty sure they have it. There is a really good article on backflying in the December '06 issue of Skydive the Mag. I can't get a direct link to work but you can go here: www.bpa.org.uk/skydive and then click on back issues and find the right issue from there. Ciao

Obama's personal choices ARE an issue. Possibly even more so than our current economic situation. Don't kid yourself. McCain may not be ideal but Obama is a disaster waiting to happen. Unless of course you sit at home all day and wait for the food stamps and welfare check.

QuoteI appreciate the offer and I'll probably take you up on it just two questions though. Who the HELL are you? And what size canopy do you have? You know who I am. You've known me since you started jumping at SSM. I jump a Pilot 168 in both rigs but Voodew called me today, he's trying to get in touch with you to get a demo 190 for you to jump in one of my rigs. Click here to see me

*** That is a very disconcerting comment. Since when does unsafe mean craters in the ground? If a jumper calls for a new jump run and doesn't get it the answer is to go to different dropzone. Period. It sounds like this dropzone isn't providing what's paid for. That's not just a ride to altitude but the opportunity to jump from a safe location near the dropzone. Hopefully if this dropzone doesn't provide that opportunity and a ride down is required that they refund your money. You get what you pay for. Go figure.

John, If Voodew thinks you're OK with it canopy wise you can borrow one of my rigs for the the boogie. I'm pretty sure they'll fit you just fine. Greg

The Havok sucks. It's impossible to see your handles and it has a funky look to it. I don't know about the Mamba.

Let me guess, you 'love' guns, drive a large vehicle, don't recycle (or couldn't give a shit about it) voted for GWB (twice), agree with the iraq war, and have spent minimal or if any time out of the united states? Am I correct? I especially liked the bit about his eyes looking evil. That look to me is a look of satisfaction, satisfied that his opponents are such idiots! Actually Mr. Rhys I do drive a big truck and I love my guns. I live in Texas after all. I spent a couple of years in the bush down under and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of country you have there. It seems to me that without the US your little island ain't jack shit. For your sake you better hope Obama doesn't get elected.

If you'd read the story or the blog, it explains why I'm not wearing a helmet (or my own rig, or altimeter) in that photo. Fortunately...I don't have a helmet sponsor who I need to keep happy. I'm not knocking you Mr. Spotted Eagle. Some get the magazine to read the articles. I get it to look at the pictures

time off what, do you think calling all neo con/believithist(i just made that one up), fuckwits or assholes contitutes a personal attack? Ummmm. I think you're lucky you're down under. That still may not be far enough away though. Maybe your boomarang will smack some sense into your weak mind.

I will vote for McCain. Not because I particularly want him to be the president but because I don't want Obama to be. The man is scary. What's wrong with you Obama lovers? All you have to do is look at him. He has a very evil look in his eye. If Obama represents America I will have to take a second look at where I live. You're talking about a man that has very close ties with a known domestic terrorist as opposed to a man that spent five years as a POW having his bones broken in a Saigon prison. A man that had the opportunity to be released but chose to stay with his men. WTF?

There are many FF2's at my dropzone and I've yet to hear one complaint about service or communication as DSE has suggested. 2K has been nothing but stellar in the support of their equipment. I'm wondering what helmet DSE's wearing in his latest space shuttle piece that ran in the current Parachutist?

I think you mean 90 not 45 right? What I think he means by cambering is his knees are farther apart than his feet. And also like you mentioned his feet are too far underneath his butt.
-
I guess everyone's different. For me a big part of a rig's comfort includes a snug fit on the back. Ditto that!

Ever hear the term "the hole"?
-
Check out this new shotgun. I want one.
-
How about buying a new? There are some out there that are reasonably priced. I think you could get something that you could keep for a long time. If money is an issue you can cut your costs on the other gear and go with used.

You really meant the pre-2nd time flying the still...right? Man..now you owe beer.

I had the same problem with my Safire 1. Mel at skyworks did a couple of things that made it better but is still slammed the crap out me every single time. What I finally did to get softer openings was replace it with a Pilot. Now I'm a very happy camper.

This was talked about extensively here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3189821;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread I was very surprised to find how many very experienced skydivers loosen their chest straps before popping the toggles. Although several argued vehemently none offered any logical reason for doing so.

Hmmmmm...15 years old. I would be more worried about the age then the weight limit. In both cases I say get rid of it and buy something new or newer. I have 1 ride on a Raven and it didn't flare for shit. That's reason number 3 to find something else. It probably is safe to jump but if you can afford it get something that's a bit more modern. PD or Smart comes to mind quickly. Of course I can already hear it. There are those that will argue.

Kelly is in the business of manufacturing gear. Why would he hook up someone whose only goal is to cut out as much profit as he can? Hell most dealers drop the price by 20 to 25%. How much more margin do you think there is in a rig? Sparky A bit testy are we not? Maybe you should just spank me? It's a joke my friend.
