  1. Ooops Guess I should have read all the posts and saw that you had alread picked one. Oh well. Still maybe you will use it some other time.
  2. Check out "C'mon C'mon" By Go Betty Go. Definitely bangin song to put skydiving to and it's chicks.
  3. I was thinking that the slack I saw was the culprit for the huge amount of oversteer I was seeing on front riser hooks. Don't get me wrong it was easiliy tackled by starting the turn higher and finishing with double fronts and just a little extra on the opposite riser to stop it. However there were a couple of times I got on it and felt it was gonna spin up. Monk
  4. It has a recovery arc. All canopies do. Perhaps you are just starting your turn too low and not allowing it to recover. Also, why would there be slack in the rear line groups? The only reason I would see this happening is when you are pulling down the fronts and you have toggles in your hands, in the case that the brake lines are too short, it will pull the tail down leaving slack in the D's and possibly the C lines. Ir shouldn't happen from simply pulling on the fronts. The lines could be bowing from drag created by the lines also. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground Hungary! Nonexistant natural recovery arc. Definitely designed with rears in mind. My least favorite aspect....SEVERE oversteer. Thought I was gonna spin it up a couple of times. If you get on the fronts take a look at the rears!!! Almost completely Slack! So flying strictly on the front leading edge. Which is why I think it has way too much oversteer. The shut down was great! Will dive forever and a day. Had to start my turns much higher than I would have initially thought. Plus I thought it needed to be loaded a little more than I was loading it at. All in all there will be lots of people who will like this canopy. But you will have to learn how to fly all over again with this thing. Camera Flyers will F*CKING love it for the openings and the better performance than their Xfire2's. 5. I was stressing my point of it being ground hungary. But thank you for showing me and EVERYONE else how f*cking smart you are and how much more you know. Of course it has a F*CKING recovery arc. My point was that it was designed with rears in mind. PERIOD! I bet you were a hall monitor in grade school werent you? Take a moment and correct my spelling and grammar and punctuation too while you're at it you f*cking dork. And as for your horseshit theory about the brake lines too short.....get a grip. God I love it when someone comes on and posts telling me I am wrong. Were you there while I was flying the damn thing? No...then shut your Cryhole. What an ass. Monk
  6. Thanks. Will be sending the request friday. I certainly appreciate your help. Spence
  7. Jumped my friends Neos 119. I'm 240lbs out the door so you can do the math. Openings were butter! Severly nice. Ground Hungary! Nonexistant natural recovery arc. 8. Hey Dan. I'm filling out the demo request for an onyx. Would like to demo a 115. Are any of the 115 Demo's lined with the longer diving lineset? Or is it just the standard? Thanks Spence
  9. Hey all. I'm pretty much just a west coast guy, but my boss will be spending lots o time in ft lauderdale (his other home) which means there I will be there enough to take my rig and jump. What's a great DZ to go to? I prefer DZ's without major attitude problems. ie...I've had enough of "want to prove to everyone skygods." Just looking for cool peeps and caravan equivalent or better. Monk
  10. My FAVORITE one I saw about a month ago on the 91 in parking lot style traffic. It was a super cute blonde driving a red car and said.... "If you're gonna ride my ass at least pull my hair" Oh man did I ever want to talk to her! Monk
  11. I know why. It's because you girls are incredibly stupid! There I said it. We all know it...I just have the minerals to say it. Before I get flooded with hate posts...you know I'm right and on top of that us guys are even more stupid. We want that hot chick who will treat us like a piggy bank and then stomp on our hearts. So we're no better. Once we acknowledge our mutual stupidity only then can we move on and maybe make the better choices. Or some bullshit like that....blah blah blah blah Monk
  12. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA lol oH that's f*ing cold! hahahahaahhahahaahah Whew! Monk
  13. I answered #1 but truth be told...it was actually on the way down after I dropped all the jumpers. ;) Once you all get out it's my turn to have fun. And girls I am newly single. Dating the jump pilot can have advantages. Monk
  14. Hey Thanks cobalt dan for the reply. My next question for you is...Is there any possibility to demo an onyx 115 with both the standard line trim and the longer line trim? Do you have both of those in stock to demo? And basically I'm looking for porportions similar to my comp cobalt ie dive and recovery arc just smaller faster and more rigid if you know what I mean. Are they similar beasts? Does the latest version of the onyx open as sweet as my comp cobalt 135? Monk
  15. Hmmmm maybe then I will just get a smaller comp cobalt and wait and see for another year or so. Monk
  16. Is this a new yet to be disclosed canopy? That you are talking about?
  17. Hokay...first lemme say that I cherrish, revere, love sleep with my comp cobalt 135 loaded at 1.74 And I have read every post here about onyx; last post was around jun 2004. that being said any latest comments on the latest version of the onyx? I truly love my comp cobalt I would really like to be excited about an onyx in the next year. Anyone else been flying their comp cobalt and then switch to an onyx? and still be just as happy? Come on...there has to be some new opinions out there? Monk

You should jump a couple times at Elsinore. With the mountains and the lake Right there it is unbelievably perfect. Not saying you should switch DZ's or anything...just come out for the experience. Look up Mel...she is the welcoming committee. She's the Best.
  19. Thanks Sangiro. Yup...got the exact copy and paste e-mail from this guy. Thanks to this site for being incredibly watchful. Monk.....aka......Spence
  20. Yup Got that West Africa thing too for my spectre I'm selling. I got immediately suspicious when they said they were from the UK but living in west africa but their grammar was pathetic. Definitely NOT someone from the UK. I would seriously love get five minutes with these people one at a time. Would be fun for me. Monk aka Spence

    Cobalt

Ok so ABSOLUTELY NO ONE jumps one of these at my DZ. But then again equipment seems to be very regional. So I take a chance after lots of research and get one. So first lemme say my weight is 220-225lbs depending on the day and I got the 150sq ft. So loading it about 1.5 Canopy only had 150 jumps and by PD standards would still be a B*tch to pack. This thing was such a treat to pack it was unbelievable. Now to the opening. It was definitely very VERY different. It was quick (about 700ft) but it was soft at the same time. Very weird. I have a feeling that this thing could seriously spank me sometime in the future if the opening sequence doesn't happen JUST right. Now looks aside (and it is a VERY good looking) the flight characteristics are excellent. The stilletto I was jumping you kind of slide around under the canopy if you know what I mean. Under the cobalt it felt those lines were solid steel and I did not "slide" at all under that canopy like you do in the stilletto. Recovery arc was very predictable and EASILY altered longer or shorter. Toggle pressure is just right (for me at least) and riser pressure was firm but no problems at all. Brake line was just a tiny tiny bit too short but no bucking with a front riser hook. Now to the flare. WOW! This thing was exactly like others said. You think you need to put your feet down?? uh uh! Nope just keep them dogs off the ground a little longer and keep flying that canopy. It WILL keep flying! As I said I took a big gamble buying this canopy especially not knowing a single person with one and lots of others saying don't get it because of the regional preference thing but I gotta tell you...NO REGRETS!! I definitely loved it more than the stilleto but still haven't jumped the xfire2. But now I prolly wont jump a xfire cause I DIG THIS COBALT! Oh and it was a bit warmer today with some turbulence but...This thing was FREAKIN ROCK SOLID. That stilleto would have been twitching all over the place today.

Hey Chris!! I've been reading the heck out of your website. Before I actually found it I spent all night last night figuring throws and drifts and canopy penetrations and makable distances. Then I came across your site and it was great because with the info there as well as the free fall simulations my quick stuff was within 70ft. Plus all the safety info....Cudos!! It'll keep me ticket in hand. Your work is muchos appreciated! BB Grrrr Baby ....VERY Grrrr! I'll be good. Monk

Digitari? (confused look) Oh they weren't whining. Actually they were good about the whole thing. I could just tell that one of them was PISSED off. Again...oh well. Cant' expect a 50 jump newbie to pull off a 28 point dive right out of the starting gate Every time. Monk
