  1. Things would go easier if the people who were always screaming "tolerance" practiced it----On both sides. If not tolerating homophobia makes me 'intolerant', then I'm proud to carry that badge.
  2. RIdiculous? No. They're not planning to explain gay sex to school children, but rather provide a lesson in tolerance/acceptance. Get over it.
  3. Seriously? If you need to ask this question, you may as well skip the school thing
  4. "That there in and of itself does not mean she was racist!" Seriously? Have you looked in a prison in the last 10 - 20 years? Maybe even seen a show about prison. You can stay in lala land all you like but untill you open your eyes/ mind you wont see the truth! Personally... I'm infinitely more afraid of rednecks than racial minorities.
  5. +100 most of snoop dog's followers are the young, thug (mostly black) but other colors too... that like "gangsta" rap and think the associated behaviors are "cool". I have friends of all colors, and go above and beyond in the effort to not judge, but there are certain people of all colors that I steer clear of simply because of thier attitudes. Just like Joe Q said, a lot of this has been brought on by the people flying the race flag. If they would quit with the BS and act like normal, respectable members of society, a lot of the so called "racist" behavior would go away. I would not have made the same comment that the lady at McDonald's did, because that does come across as ignorant on her behalf, but I also would not have went to the fair on the the night that snoop dog was there either, just out of concern for my own safety. It is not a coincidence that when you turn on the news at night that most of the crimes being reported were committed by people of colors other than white..... Ugh.
  6. Yes, you're right. My bad. I actually have no friends at all. Thanks for clearing up my personal experiences with your suspections. If a women is aware of a pregnancy (especially a wanted one), then chances are that a miscarriage will be an upsetting experience--you're correct. However, as I posted somewhere above, between 60 and 80% of pregnancies do not survive beyond the embryonic period (max 8 weeks). In the majority of these cases, the woman is not aware that she lost the zygote/embryo, or that she was even pregnant at all.
  7. Haha He will be back for 2 weeks in October. Hopefully, we can find time for dinner.
  8. Really? And what could I get you to eat for $50? That, you would have to discuss with Jon!
  9. You are correct here, however, these 'reactions' are in no way purposeful or intended. In fact, most Child Development theorists agree that newborns, up until 1 month of age rely solely upon survival reflexes. So, essentially, neither are 'reacting to their environments'. So both are equally alive Thanks for helping me prove my point. Equally alive? Sure, in the very last weeks of pregnancy, yes. One however, is inside of a woman's body, and the other is not--neither of which are able to form opinions or make choices as you claim.
  10. This is exactly my point. The reactions of a baby in eutero is almost exactly the same as a newborn, as they are basically the same, so ending the life of a "baby" that has feet and hands and can react to it's surroundings is not right whether it is in a womans stomach or in a cradle. You are correct here, however, these 'reactions' are in no way purposeful or intended. In fact, most Child Development theorists agree that newborns, up until 1 month of age rely solely upon survival reflexes. So, essentially, neither are 'reacting to their environments'.
  11. Hyperbole much, bill? There's a LARGE difference between a failure to implant and a miscarriage, and if you DON'T know that, then you have no reason to be posting in an abortion thread. Actually, it's estimated that between 60 and 80% of pregnancies do not survive beyond the embryonic period (8 weeks). Most women do not even know they are pregnant, and mistake a heavy period for a spontaneous abortion (miscarriage).
  12. While this has been said to you here, it appears as though you're not exactly comprehending. Until the age of viability (which is generally agreed upon at 22 weeks), the FETUS can NOT survive outside of the womb. So, therefore, NO, the man does not have any say in what happens, especially before this age of viability is reached.
  13. Many people don't recognize the fact that a significant portion of late-term abortions are performed because the mother's health is at risk. Pro-choice (third trimester) may seem extreme to many, but if there is a substantial risk to the mother, it's a completely different story IMO. Personally, I would vote 'Pro-Choice (limited to first trimester UNLESS there is a significant health crisis with mother or fetus)'.
  14. This argument, as you've been told, is completely asinine. It's mind boggling on several levels to imagine anybody possessing this train of thought, not to mention incredibly sad. Through reading your posts here, it's evident that you view homosexuality as a choice, which is obviously incorrect, and in many aspects, the basis of the entire gay marriage debate. Do I think your mind will change? No, probably not, though I do hope that at some point, you can acquire the intelligence to draw up a more effective argument for denying any person basic civil rights.
  15. For someone who doesn't wish to argue the matter, you sure sound like you're arguing the matter. Do you think this is a good law or a bad law? In my opinion, yes, every precaution possible should be taken if one chooses to keep firearms in their home. I thought this comment made my position clear. Then again, your idea of every precaution and mine are most likely dissimilar. So, for clarification purposes, I voted 'yes-good law'.
  16. Knives are the 2nd most deadly weapon with which you can be attacked. People stabbed to death with knives last year: 2,000 Robbery with knives: 32,000 Aggravated assault with knives: 136,000 Burglary with knives: 619,000 It's not paranoia to know what dangers face you, and to take measures to mitigate those dangers. Is it paranoia to carry a reserve parachute and practice your emergency procedures? I'm not arguing the fact that knives are dangerous, but rather this comment, "I'm glad I don't have to deal with trigger locks or safes tonight." This relates back to your original post. Will I ever keep a gun in my house? Very unlikely, though I see no reason to abolish the entire 2nd amendment. I'm certain you're aware, however, of the statistics on gun theft from homes and vehicles (or even accidental shootings among children by way of their parent's unsecured weapons). In my opinion, yes, every precaution possible should be taken if one chooses to keep firearms in their home. I don't wish to argue this with you, though, because while I don't post, I lurk enough to realize that there is no changing your mind.
  17. This made me chuckle. Seriously, though? Sounds slightly paranoid...
  18. What the fuck is "Obamer" supposed to mean? It's supposed to mean "Obama", as pronounced by some of those oh-so-proper British Broadcasting Corporation talking heads. For some reason, they like to add "r"s to the end of words. I guess it's some kind of British accent thing. "Cuba" becomes "Cuber", "Law" becomes "Lawr", and "Obama" becomes "Obamer". But mostly I spell it that way just because it drives the Obamites absolutely crazy, and they don't even understand why. They can't claim it's racism. They don't have a clue as to why they are offended by it - they just are. And that's tremendously amusing. Just like watching this whole predictable partisan thread unfold from a single seed message. What's tremendously amusing is lurking in here long enough to witness you and RushLimbaugh AKA mc (in addition to others) making such ridiculous comments regarding our current administration.
  19. I was considering the Dare, but wanted a Blackberry. Global capability and a fast browser were essential. I waited a while to get the Storm, until they had a chance to work out the bugs. Knock on wood, it's been GREAT. I have but one single complaint: I text A LOT, and it had a steep learning curve in that department. It's probably taken me a month or two to get fast, but it's no longer an issue. Still, texting while driving is almost out of the question (must be looking at the phone to text, because you obviously can't go on feel with no buttons), though that's probably a good thing.
  20. I had the same experience with UPS... I was shipping 2 brand new rigs, 2 wing suits, a camera, and helmet to my house (in NJ) from TX. Obviously, I requested that somebody sign for it. Nope, UPS guy left a huge box worth 15k+ in MY DRIVEWAY. Never again.
  21. Haha... Not from MY house (believe it or not, NJ exists outside of Newark, where you'll find yuppie towns full of educated liberals... Crazy stuff). I know all the NJ stereotypes, though, and I made that comment in good fun. I've been to Texas more than a few times, and there are some nice aspects. For instance... um... Lake Travis and um... Yup, that seems to be it.
