  1. All excellent suggestions. I would also add to make sure your rubber bands or tube stoes hold the lines tight. I use tube stoes on the first 2 grommets and rubber bands on the rest. I double loop the rubber bands around the lines. This will help prevent an out of sequence deployment which can cause line twists or a slammer opening. (OUCH) Bob
  2. I personally would not consider any camera but a Sony. The others are great for family gatherings etc. but the Sony is the only camera that will stand up to the rigors of skydiving IMO. Bob
  3. Thank you, I appreciate the invitation and information. Not sure where we are staying yet as this is a family reunion/wedding on Saturday and Sunday. We thought we would come a few days early and get a couple of jumps in. I didn't realize the distance between the 2 was so great. I will find out exactly where the event is and see if that makes any difference. Bob
  4. I will be in Houston the first weekend in April and am considering which DZ to visit. I will only be able to jump on a Thursday and Friday so thats a factor in where I go. Can anyone make a suggestion/comment on the two DZs there? Blu 11111s
  5. I've never had that problem. Make sure you use the foam padding that comes with it. I also added some additional padding. As long as you close it tightly you shouldn't have the problem. Next helmet I buy is going to be a top mount for both my video and stills because I worry about a riser strike and/or entanglement.
  6. Why don't you contact the guy you bought it from and ask him what he was using in it?
  7. Could be a scam to steal your gear. You show up to pick her up on the first date, head out to the DZ for day of skydiving and the next thing you know, you black out and wake up in a ditch and your rigs gone. Be careful out there!!

  9. If you search the archives, you will find some info Jeannie Shumaker and I posted here a few months ago on this topic. If you still need help, I would contact her at WWW.Boneheadcomposites.com I'm sure she would be more than happy to advise you.
  10. I can track fairly fast on my belly, and very fast on my back.....go figure.. My back track is MUCH faster and flatter than my belly tracking ___________________________________________________ That usually happens because of a big ole beer belly.
  11. The Cam-Eye II is for controling a video camera not a still camera. The Cam-Eye II costs about $54. USD. A bite, blow or tongue switch (which is what I assume you mean) is about $45. USD if I recall correctly.
  12. I have Never jumped with anyone. I have always been by myself. Not that that is a problem but it's hard to correct problems when no-one is actually there to see what you are doing. Perhaps you should jump with someone. Seems that is the only way you are going to understand what you are doing wrong. Sometimes it helps to have another person with you who can give you a relax signal. You will also learn how to exit properly. Check with your instructors and ask their advice on who would be good to jump with. At many of the smaller DZs I've been to they are very busy but you can usually get someone to jump with if you are persistent.
  13. I have had line twists so severe the canopy starts to spin and the lines are forcing your head down. When that happens you have to chop it immediately as the canopy is only partially open and you are losing altitude and run the risk of a "red out"
  14. I ended up buying a Bogen quick release because I was told at a camera store the stroboframe wasn't durable enough for skydiving. The guy wasn't trying to sell me either one as he was out of the stroboframe and didn't carry Bogen. What has your experience been with the stroboframe?
  15. The Canon Rebel G and the Canon EOS 2000 are good 35mm film cameras because they have a remote port you can connect a blow, bite or tounge switch into.
  16. Dave, I sent you a private email asking you to accept my apology for criticizing your assertation their was a problem with the design. Please accept my public apology also. Bob
  17. I would say to make it large enough to have fish in it. A few Bass, Catfish etc.. would be kewl so we could fish when on a weather hold.
  18. Hey DbTech Aren't you that guy who was telling everyone that "hard openings" were caused by slider rebound a while ago. Seems to me you were patenting a solution to slider rebound. Have you gotten your patent approved yet? Maybe you can redesign the Crossfire after you are done with solving the slider rebound problem Bob
  19. We do know from people who were there that her canopy appeared to collapse due to the rotors. We also know from eyewitnesses the wind coming off the trees was causing rotors. So we DO have a source as to that cause, which makes it much more believable than your rumor. Why don't you tell us the source of your rumor?
  20. Sounds like you are the one trying to start a rumour. One fatality which was related to rotors coming off the trees and you ASSume their is a design flaw. Real scientific approach you have there.
  21. Just what you need, headphones covering your ears when the pilot is screaming to get out of the plane because the engine just blew. Use your time going to altitude to concentrate on the jump and what you are going to do WHEN you have a malfunction.
  22. Perhaps you would get a more accurate response by contacting the manufacturer, eh?
  23. Make sure you use plenty of gaffers tape to position the D box. Put the camera in it without the outer shell and have someone site it. If you plan on using a ring site, this would also be a good time to install it so you can make sure everything lines up correctly. Once you have the camera positioned right, take the camera out and tape the box up real well with the gaffers tape. Mark the hole with fingernail polish. Use clear fingernail polish in the hole to insure the carbon fibre is sealed up. (it is a good idea to take the camera in another room while you are drilling B/C if any of the fibers get into the heads of the camera, you are gonna ruin them.Take your time drilling the hole on at a time, sealing the hole with nail polish and rechecking the siteing. Tighted down all screws and there you are. Hope this helps
