http://www.skydivesouthpadre.com For the US side... http://www.skydivemty.com.mx For the mexican experience...just so you can say you did it! Monterrey is a little bit of a drive, but not all that far from Brownsville. You just have to know who to ask, big T!

8:5:0 aside from my friend flying into the hangar at 40mph, it was a kick ass weekend. (the 8 was all with one person, of course...i mean, it's not like i'm a male whore or anything...)

Check out the site www.dakinerags.com for their latest promotion, a photo contest. The winner gets a free pair of their awesome freefly pants. Check it out! A.T.

Brian Germain is the man for vertical skydiving....hell, he made it into the art form it is today! Get either his book or his movie, both titled "Vertical Journey" and start learning. Also, if you have any freeflyers at your dz, get them to give you pointers...bribe them with beer if needs be. It will be the best case of beer you've ever bought.

this is not a children's book...it is a "true story" of skydiving type of thing...i even have one entry where after i swooped a cow, i say i accidentally kicked that fu#&ker!! the idea is that we all be our usual charming selves and have fun with the publicity--i for one, am tired of always seeing the same "skygods" in books, aren't you all??
-
You can always include a small caption explaining the log book entry...that is what Lew Sanborn is doing, since he uses the old school log books with little spaces to write in. If you don't want to send logbook entries, photos will also be cool to include. Anyone who wants to participate can e-mail me at thrill_seek@msn.com and i will be glad to help you through the specifics. A.T.

Seems like only people with lots of jumps want to be in a book about skydiving...what gives?? On the front page of DZ.Com on the right hand side, there is info about the book. Check it out people!! Are we part of a community, or what? All it takes is a little bit of effort on your part, and we can all be published for doing what we love. A.T.

Ahhh, picturesque Guam...land of cheap rent, high paying jobs, and you can actually have your tandem instructor WITH you! Talk about paradise! I wonder if they supply BOOBIES!
-
Good Point!! It IS in fact fat tuesday.... any of you gorgeous dz.com chicks willing to show their BOOBIES?? Cyber beads to all those who do!
-
How about instead of pissing all of their jumpers off at the DZ, why not just designate another landing area for those who want to do radical canopy flight?? Lots of accidents could have been prevented by people flying a proper pattern, instead of 8 people doing it right and one guy swooping past everyone...just ask the skygod at Mardi Gras that had traffic issues that sent another jumper to the hospital.
-
me and 7 others were clocked at Mardi Gras going 223mph in a "ball o shit dive". Shortly thereafter, eight people were seen with smoke rolling out of their rectums... (rectum?? Damn near killed em'!!) There were some conflicting protrack readings, so, naturally, i am claiming the fastest one!
-
*serious applause for common sense* Cyber beer for Bill... I think there are too many of us that forget how precarius a position we are in under canopy...I have had near collisions, near wraps (crw), collapsing canopies, line overs, cutaways, and the list goes on and on... Maybe i just have bad luck though! **Gotta give a shout out to my reserve..i love you man!**

You'll want to be careful when doing a right 90 degree turn followed by a 270 left, or vice versa. I have done this consistently since i started jumping, until i got thrown higher than horizontal in a spiral. What happens next is a very fast "gator roll" line twist situation. Mind you, this was on a sabre 210, so you can imagine how the odds will increase as the size decrease. You're the pilot--fly safe.

not to split hairs, but it looked like that dude that hooked in had another contributing factor to the accident. Looked to me like he was cut off at about 25 feet. I'm not 100%, but it looked like the other guy cut him off -- who wants to bet the other guy thinks just the opposite?? People, PLEASE respect everyone else in the air and on the ground. Left hand patterns are there for a damned good reason. This was now my 2nd time seeing someone hook in, and even though i didn't know the guy, he's a part of my family and it hurt me inside to see him hurt. Think about the effects that has on others before you make a turn under canopy, and maybe we'll all remember to look first.

1:10:1 all in all, one of my best weekends yet! I did a "stealth" rodeo dive with this guy...he never saw it coming...it was classic...he was thinking "hey! a 2 way dock!" and i surprised him by slinging him to the side, then doing a very "dropzone-esque" flip right onto his back. cool when things actually work like that (usually .005% of the time)

Mardi Gras Boogie was awesome this weekend! Weather was nice, winds were ok. Free beer and Margaritas really hit the spot, but you know skydivers....4 kegs and 4 cases of margarita mix won't last long... :) Right before my last load, some poor guy hooked in right in front of the spectator area... He got cut off in the air just prior to landing by a rather famous name...if anyone cares, pm me and i'll say who it was. At any rate, he's hurt bad, so if anyone cares to pray, it would be wise. It put a damper on the rest of the day...sold my last jump ticket back to manifest and drove 10 hours home.

I have no room to talk, except of personal experience... at 30 jumps or so, i got a wild hair one weekend and decided to go from a 288 manta, to a 210, to a 190, to a 170, to a 150. Fully loaded, i weigh 210 lbs....predictably, i turned too low and broke my ankle. A month later, a good friend hooked in under a 77 (500+ jumps) and almost died in my arms...lesson learned. Now i have the ultimate respect for not only my choices, but how they affect my "family" at the dz. Any dropzone that would put a student out with such a dangerous choice of canopies is one that i never want to visit--it's not worth the risk, no matter how much the dz needs the money.
