  1. Did I forget to mention? The showing of some boobies comes with every registration fee. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  2. If you owned a turbine aircraft you might feel different. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  3. We'd love to have Spence do some LO if he's up for it. However, this particular trip was never meant as a Roaming DZ event nor to be a big boogie production. It's an SDA event and we're just bringing the Super King Air down to fly some loads and do some beach jumps. Last year the June Destin trip started as an SDA trip and turned into a joint event when I called Spence so I didn't conflict with his Destin event. Spence did a great job with his part but it was more complex of a production than I wanted this time around. Since we support so many of his events, I can understand the confusion. If he doesn't make it out, I'm sure he'll have some other kick ass beach type event this summer. Either way, I hope you'll make it down to do some beach jumps while the heat is still tolerable and we'd love to see you...and your boobies! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  4. In an engine failure situation an open door will absolutely increase drag. Back in 2002 SDA had an engine failure on one of Fayard's Twin Otters seconds after takeoff. Everyone was constantly breaking my rules about the door being closed and the pilot was not much help in enforcement. When the engine failed, THE FIRST THING the people in the back were scrambling to do was close the door. Causing more chaos and affecting CG. After that, the door stayed closed, no matter how much the fat guys in back wanted it open. That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. #1 planes have an emergency exit on the opposite side for this reason. #2, you morons break my damn roll up door every season in normal operation, you'll be able to kick it off the track in a crash if you want. I even have a placard that says to do so. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  5. WOW!! It's going to take several hours for my balls to drop after a kick that hard. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com

  7. Well kids... Skydive Atlanta is invading Destin, Florida once again this time for Cinco de Mayo. That's May 4, 5, and 6 for those that only hable' English. We will be flying the Super King Air out of the Destin airport and the landing area will be on the beach at Noriega Point again. Registration will be $25 per person and jumps will be $24. Sorry guys jet fuel is over $5.00 per gallon in Destin. The registration covers the aircraft ferry and staff accommodations. Tandems will be $200 and video $100. The plane will be flying down Friday midday and leaving Sunday midday. If you have not been to SDA this year please stop by and sign a waiver, do not wait until you get to Destin. It adds a lot of workload to our staff and slows down manifest. We need help passing out flyers around Destin for tandems for those willing. Remember, it's the tandems that allow us to pay the rent back in Thomaston and make this trip possible, so any help is appreciated. Last year we had a great time and are looking forward to seeing you all again! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  8. Well, I'll tell ya something on this. A lot of girls think just because we're guys, it's OK to hit us really hard in the chest for a smartass comment. Not cool, it hurts. Especially directly in the shoulder. You don;t have to be strong to hurt someone. Slap on the ass is different, no threat implied. Girls lose their "gender courtesy" to the exact degree they exercise their physicality(sp?) in a violent manner. I absolutely would, will, and have hit a girl in self defense. Now, I'm not saying I'll punch her in the nose. But girls don't have the right to hit a guy in the jaw, follow him after he walks away, then grab him with fingernails and not let go. This will get you an open palm in the right hand upper chest with as much force and leverage as I can get. Now, it's important to note that once the threat is neutralized, it's over. It is never OK to beat the shit out of someone of any gender once they are no longer a physical threat to you. But everyone has a right to defend themselves from any physical threat. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com

  11. This is a pretty subjective idea. I mean, to a guy with self-confidence, very few women are "unapproachable". However, lots of women are very poor at allowing a guy opportunities to approach. Like the 3 woman circle where they never shut up or turn away from each other allowing someone an opportunity to speak with them. Also, most guys will not approach a girl that doesn't at least make eye contact or smile at him. Now I would ask, is it that she doesn't get serious interest or doesn't ever get laid? Because if she gets laid, then meeting men isn't the problem. She just needs to do it off the DZ. That being said, every chick that visits our DZ get loads of attention no matter what they look like. Maybe she just needs to come to SDA. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  12. I own a very expensive Sony 42" Plasma that I purchased several years ago. Plasma is best for large TV's. LCD is best for computer or small TV's. I have only 3 suggestions. Make sure it has built in speakers and if I were going to buy another one I'd but it at Sam's or Walmart for the cheapest price could find. I know all the technical crap about plasma and LCD. But I advise comparing them by playing the same movie on each and trust your eyes. The one that looks like it has the best picture to your eyes does and will when you get it home. If it looks washed out, grainy, or faded it's because it hasn't held up to the use in the store. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com

  15. I was so excited when I read a post of Tom's I fully agree on. We are usually at odds for some reason. I agree with everything he said here and I would like to add something. There are pictures out there of tandem drogue throw with the packed drogue 6-8 feet from the TI after a good throw. Although not as dense, if a pilot chute is packed up correctly and the throw is hard enough, it is possible to get quite some clearance out of the pouch before it begins to unfurl. A lot of jumpers tend to have lazy throws cause they don't believe it matters. Many that have been jumping for any length of time will tell you they have had the P/C go under their wrist at some point because they got lazy. I have done it myself. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  16. So FYI to those interested who could not make it this week, we flew 11 Twin Otter loads and 9 Super King Air loads today (Thursday). Wahoo! Great weather today despite the forecast. If ur not here, you can't skydive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  17. These list are always so subjective. The first 20 or so are pretty much on and most people agree with them on most of the lists out there. I find it ironic and pretty ridiculous that they have Rush 2112 at 198 and Tool at 123. Any musicians out there will know what I'm saying. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  18. I read that one quite a few years back. If you can muscle through it (she is extreme verbose and the ideas sometimes take a few days to sink in) it's a personal paradigm changing book. "The Fountainhead" is the other I would recommend. If you don't feel like reading another long book you can rent the movie with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal. A fun piece of trivia, former Fed chair Alan Greenspan was close with Ayn Rand and did a lot of writing with her in the early days of objectivism. -Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  19. We could say the same of your p.o.v. Police, governments, big pharma have a huge sales pitch when it comes to drugs. Much of that "scientific evidence" is questionable and frankly the government has a long track record of manufacturing it in order to push the policy of the politician seeking power. Merck had tons of scientific evidence and government oversight saying that Vioxx was great stuff and perfectly safe. Need I say more? You've picked the one place to say this where many of the readers are as expert as they come with regards to alcohol and drug use. If drugs were legal and pharmaceutical quality, there would be no corollary crime, users would know what they were getting, and would be more educated about the real effects adverse or otherwise. As it is now, nobody really has any "scientific evidence" of the effects of extasy because until recently it was illegal to do research. The only data comes from hospitals when people mix drugs and have a bad interaction or water intoxication. That one damn case with the girl dying from overhydration that has gotten so much press that everyone thinks it's happening constantly. I don't have the actual data but I've seen thousands of people do thousands of pills and never known anyone to overhydrate to the point of toxicity. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  20. I know for certain I have had some beer goggle nights where I had sex with 1.1415 of a woman if not a little larger decimal. You know you all have been there before. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  21. Awesome movie! Saw it in the theatre. It would've been just as good without the animation stuff, maybe better. It got distracting sometimes. The acting is superb. Robert Downey Jr. is brilliant. That seen where they are arguing over the car engine....too funny. That all being said, it is not a movie for everyone and certainly not for the tastes of our "American Idolized" culture. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  22. I'm glad to hear he is OK. Give him my best. Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  23. I'll trade you for a DVD w raw video on it! Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  24. Ya, he doesn't have as good a sense of humor as some airport managers. Your are right we will have to get some folks up to NY for one of their events. Of course, then again, they don't what they are in for and may never want us back. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  25. Gosh, I hardly know where to begin. I can't thank everybody enough for coming to the event. All the people in the backstage that helped to make it happen, too many to remember and mention all of you. Chris- taking care of the RV/camping Gary Shaffer- help with rigging Gerald and Bo - the trees MC Scotty and Tami Carbone- Good groceries man! All of the organizers and vendors Gary Hyde for keeping the beer taps flowing all night Skydive Radio Donyal Tripp for keeping my stress level at a managable state The world's hardest working manifest staff And probably most of all, our mechanic and my keystone guy, Lee Higdon without whom none of this would be possible. Sorry if I forgot anyone. As much work as it takes, seeing everyone having a great time makes it worthwhile. For all of the little fires I had to put out (Otter breaking down for an hour, off DZ landings, etc.) from my point of view it actually was the smoothest running event I have ever held. I hope you all had the same experience. I have one request. Bob always gets a ton of pics from the day and the costumes, but I would really like to put together a bunch of pics and video from the party. I've never gotten to see all of the performers. Some I get to see but can't remember due to my state of mind at the time. I would also love to get video of the great skydives. If folks will mail me enough hours of video I'll put together a boogie DVD. I don't know how I will top it next year, but rest assured if there is a way, I'll find it! Thanks again, see you in '07!! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
