  1. It's kinda like a Fraternity...pledges etc. The new guy does all the shit work(in this case buys beer). It's just a good excuse to keep beer at the DZ. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  2. LOL!!! "Just walk away!" http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  3. That's real American. How about the government just limit everyone's earning power. Wait, seems to me there was another country that did that.... To answer the original question, if oil prices become $100 a barrel you can count on around $5 per gallon gas. This equates to about a $3 increase in jump prices. It's capitalism guys! Charge what the market will bare..and Caveat Emptor! I don't always like it either but it's better than the alternative. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  4. It is/was the Silver Wings. Ft Benning's demo team, they train here at Skydive Atlanta. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  5. I use Bit Tornado. I download a lot from a bit torrent site called "djmixes2k". Trance music. Bit torrent in and of itself isn't a big deal. It's when you have a lot of people trying to download the same file that it's really helpful. It saves bandwidth since the host is only pointing out where the bits are. I haven't noticed that it's any faster than straight downloading. Probably work really good for Skydive Radio though. Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  6. bwwaaahhhhhhhahahahaha! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  7. Atlanta Freeflight Festival & Halloween Boogie. I'll just say one thing about the boogie....have you ever seen a tree walking around at a DZ party? http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  8. Get that four engine jet they use for that boogie in France (?) and/or Spain. You'll see a lot more use than the DC-9. The C-9 is cool and all but expensive and takes too much time. The 727 used to be a 3 hour ordeal. They fly that thing over there like it's a CASA...back to back. Rod's 412 and a jet are a must if you ever want to see conventions like the Quincy days. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  9. Does anyone have pictures of the spider ride? Preferably ones with jumpers, the hangar, or aircraft in view. The only one I have is not suitable for printing. Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  10. A couple more including the ride. Anyone that would like to send me a CD with pictures please do. We'll get them up on the website. Couple of the photo credits (not sure which ones) go to Bob Rader and DZ Memories. Great job Bob. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  11. Thanks everyone for being at the event. We reached our goal having over 300 registered for the event. Here are a few pics. Be sure and tell everone what they missed and rub it in good! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  12. Thursday we flew 10 Super King Air loads. Friday around 3 pm (not the final count) we had well over 100 registered for the event! We flew 15 Super Otter loads, 9 Super King Air loads, a couple helicopters, and a sunset Skyvan load. Tommorrow's weather forecast is beautiful and 70 degrees. If you're not on your way, you should be!! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  13. Yes. We are having someone drive people back to hotels Saturday night/ Sunday morning. Remember, we are jumping tomorrow, Thursday, for anyone interested. Carbones are here and Scotty will be cooking steaks tomorrow night. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  14. I'm not sure that helps. I think the folks that don't like trance will just see those tunes as butchered. Like you said, either you like it or you don't. But here's the other side of the coin. 3 years ago I had a pretty decent rock band play. All I heard was, "couldn't you get a better/different/reggae/classic rock/cover/insert your favorite criticism here band?". No one appreciated it at all. You wouldn't know it by reading the thread, but there is a pretty large boogie contingent that goes to dance clubs and digs trance music. Part of the goal is supposed to be not being like all the other boogies. I know it's not for everybody. You wanna see chicks hit the dance floor in droves though, play some sexy hip hop. I bet even Skymama wouldn't be able to resist! Mark, you should go to one of the black clubs in ATL one night this week and ask the DJ what to play to get the women worked up. I intend to keep the volume down a little more this boogie. (hint, Mark & Eric) I like to talk to people too. Bonfire should be going outside to warm you up. Great vibes should be everywhere. And some of the entertainment should be spectacular. I'm excited! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  15. What I mean is dogs not running around everywhere. Normally we let dogs run as long as they are polite. But if everyone at a big event brings their dog and let's em run its like a kennel. You can still bring em but they need to stay tied up out back unless you keep them on a leash next to you the whole time. I'm a pet owner so I try to be understanding, but the vast majority of jumpers aren't and don't want animals running at a DZ, potentially stepping on lines and peeing on rigs. We don't even really let ours out in the hangar during the Festival. Just long enough to show off their costumes! BTW there were some really funny dog costumes last year. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  16. I'm so sorry about Herc. Pleazse PM me with who's dog it was and if they might be at the boogie. You know we're a dog dropzone and I won't stand for someone bringing an aggressive dog to my DZ. Actually, aside from Momma Dog, my dogs, and the Carbones, it won't be a dog DZ that weekend. Attached is Momma dog, she's the Thomaston airport dog. Also mine and Jen's babies, Turkey and Oppie! 17. I've flown jumpers for about 1,400 hours (been flying longer as a flight instructor), have 1500 jumps spread among all disciplines and fly a Velo 84. I often will turn toward the upwind side in the latter half of the jump run if I think the jumpers are going to get strung out. At Thomaston, we have a 6300 foot runway and a parallel jump run. This ensures that jumpers can at least make it to some part of the airport and makes them easier to find when landing off the main LZ. When I don't have that as a clear option, I often run perpendicular to the winds aloft and offset to the upwind side. This usually leaves more jumpers in the "wind cone" (as HALO guys like to call it) without putting them so far out. It also makes curving the jump run into the wind an easy option. Remember, the jumpers only feel the relative wind so it makes no real difference to them if I only bank up to about 15 degrees or less. Skidding the plane will disturb some of the airflow, so I don't think I would do it with a 4 way team but tandems woudn't know the difference. I would not recommend banking until the aircraft had some weight out though. The plane is already at a slow speed/ high angle of attack and stall speed increases with higher bank angles. Heavy jumper loads require higher angles of attack to sustain lift to begin with. If you were to have a weight shift to aft Center of Gravity you could get into a really nasty stall and aft CG spin even easier than normal. Or you can do what I do and just let the aircraft sink at about 1000 FPM. And anyone that has ever flown jumpers in a 182 knows that you fly completely uncoordinated if you want to keep the aircraft flying a straight ground track. For what it's worth. Finally, if any group is spot hogging or second guessing the spot to the detrement of the rest of the plane I warn them once, then I'll ground them. I know...I'm an asshole! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  18. Ya, I remember you had a specific quote from him that went along with that idea that was kind of absurd. You'll have to give him a hard time when he shows up. Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  19. You rock Spence! she won't be disappointed. Halloween boogie NEWS! TJ Landgren is coming from Eloy and will be organizing at the boogie! Important hotel stuff: Book you hotel rooms now, they are filling up due to a NASCAR race that weekend. If you are booking a hotel room at the Jameson, ask for the manager, Barbara. (706) 648-2232 First prize for the costume contest will be 40% off a Performance Designs canopy! It's only 3 weeks away!! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  20. So tell me the story!! I gotta know. Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  21. Why go to restaurants? or bars? Can't you just eat/drink at home? http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  22. Ya, see that's good info for me. What's the vibe like at each place? I'm not a hardcore Jeff Spicoli type of snowboarder but I'm not in with that yuppie thing either. I like a variety of runs, some moguls, some trees, always powder. My fav is Jackson Hole. One thing I don't like about Whistler for example is that the way it's designed, getting up to the good runs took an hour on the lifts and we had to spend about 30 minutes on green trails to get back down to the resort area at the end of each day. Night life is important but I'm usually too tired to party balls to the wall. So where to stay in Summit County that doesn't cost a fortune? http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  23. Dude. Absolutely hilarious! You're never gettin laid talking like that, but it was absolutely hilarious. Sorry girls, I appreciate the raw humor. Hope you don't it against me! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  24. Yep. We are dealers for several manufacturers. Call me tomorrow at the DZ, 1-800-950-5867 and we'll see what we can do! Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  25. I'm starting to plan a trip. I've been to Park City several times, Jackson Hole, Whistler, and Vermont among others. But I've never been snowboarding in Colorado and I'm looking for opinions on the best place to go and why. Not just opinions on terrain but opinions on nightlife, price, lodging, everything. Thanks Trey http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
