  1. Apparently he's been identified, but I wonder if posting about DB is still a criminal offense? https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/the-search-for-db-cooper-investigators-say-theyve-confirmed-skyjackers-identity-by-decoding-long-lost-confession/ar-AAzi4Zb?li=BBnb7Kz "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." 2. Doesn't seem like 31 years, but there it is. Have a cold beer in memory of those who won't return to the bonfire. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  3. What's the difference between a waif heart and a crone pancreas? No pervert will pay to have a crone pancreas in his face! "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  4. Second rail might be for oversized or vanity train carriages to fit into the passenger loading area? "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  5. I jumped up in Rome a bit in 95-96. Fun, solid DZ - good times. Congrats on your victory. Go get 'em. BS Nova "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  6. That's right. "Come on, boys! Let's pack up our 7TUs and clip on bellywarts - it's time to skydive!!" "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  7. Cool. I was driving on a recent Saturday morning, near the local air base (Stratton), and a B-29 came lumbering over the tree line and made a long, slow banking turn very close to being just overhead. Never seen one in flight before - it's something else. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  8. The reality is that the group is open to everyone; can't expect young jumpers to learn about their kits if they're excluded, right? The point is, the group is rigging specific, not skydiving, or flea marketing, etc. Everyone is welcome with questions, posts, tips, experiences, etc.
  9. You bring up some valid and interesting points, and I was looking forward to the discussions generated therefrom. But you torpedoed yourself, even in the hot button topic forum. 11. I've always taken "prior" to mean "180 days from today", the day I close and seal the rig. The abundance of online date calculators makes it easy to come up with the no later than 180 days from today date. .02 "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." 13. When I receive a rig it goes into the queue; I'll get to it as soon as I can. Always open to the client's needs, but I usually work on a FIFO basis. I'll let you know when it's ready. If there's nothing else but this rig, I'll work it as soon as possible and get it out. If he needs it in two weeks, I'll get it done 10 days from now. .02 "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  14. Funny, Gary! My experience with the FB group is that it is quicker and easier to post and discuss. I don't think the Dizzy forum is in peril! "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  15. Hi, Ian. Lisa did good work, and I've enjoyed her group, but it looks like she's giving up on the Dummies. That note indicates she's letting it "go in". Come on into the new group. :-) "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  16. Looks like Lisa has closed the Rigging for Dummies group. Here's a new closed group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1004617382986344/ "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

  18. A discussion in a different group has me thinking about no sew fingertraps (NSF), particularly when used for attaching toggles. I haven't had any problems related to NSF attached toggles - the minor nuisance in undoing them is the only difficulty I've experienced. What is your experience? 20. Congrats! I found that buying a diamond and then having it set was not only less expensive, but better quality IMO. I bought from a diamond wholesaler (who made it a very easy process, including shipping prospective stones to me for examination) and my jeweler was happy to set it in a gold ring. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in particulars. Good luck. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  21. Just like the one that prompted my question, Rob! But it's not skydiving gear, it's a 1991 long Softie (w/FFE 201-A) that was assembled, I&Red twice and then properly stored for 22 years. It's in excellent condition, practically looks new. A real closet queen. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  22. That's it. Thanks, Gary. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  23. Good Friday morning. On 08/21/2012 the FAA issued a letter to Randy Ottinger clarifying their position on the applicability of manufacturers limiting the service life of TSO'd parachute equipment. The letter appears to state that without a Service Bulletin, and possibly an AD, a manufacturer cannot retroactively apply service life. The burden is clearly put on the rigger to determine, at 180 day intervals, the serviceability of the TSO'd equipment. Anyone have a full copy of that letter? The copy I have (attached) was poorly scanned and is incomplete. Cheers! "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73

  25. Sorry to learn this. Earned a Billyworld sticker when he banned me from the dz for a month. Never blamed him, as I did it. As a very young jumper he let me follow the 40-way out of Mr D, one of my most memorable skydives. Blues, Billy.
