I was told by the master rigger of a certain manufacture that all that is done is pulling the seam apart and tackin' the bottom of the main pack tray, (*In more words than that, or course, but that is the jist of it) I took out the threading of the corners of the main pack tray and it has worked beautifully. I am not a rigger, therefore, maybe my thoughts are not welcome here. But, it is not a difficult mod. I have found it necessary to do this on very small containers that house very small mains. I did not have the mod when jumping a Stiletto 97 and proceeded to have a really nice spinner even though I deployed in probably what I would call, "The most stable deployment I have ever had". I actually felt the bag get hung up on the corners. During that incident, I DID have the extended Bridle and larger P/C so I am going to hand out the theory that the dynamic corners do well WITH ME! (*Of course, everyone is different.) "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

I have recently contacted Brian and I feel that with all that was said in here that he would be our best bet. Now, to get the chumps at the DZ to sign up... Thanks guys and gals, I knew I could count on each and every one of you! Peace, Out! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Well, that just dumbfounded me for the 5 attempts that were successful, I managed to do a 90 degree??? The last one was actually about 120 degrees and I was laid over on my side with my canopy about 2 feet from the ground. I somehow managed to stand that one up as well. I guess that is what is really burning me up due to that being the most kick ass feeling ever. Sure wish I could do that again. Thanks to everyone that has posted advise, will attempt again this weekend. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

I would like to put in my vote for the Stiletto. I have gone through several canopies in the last few years. Had problems with a bunch of them. Like several have stated, demo all that you can. But as far as over-all excellent canopy, my vote goes to the Stiletto. Hope this helps. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Rig ??? Should I buy new or used?
crawford replied to jumpinfarmer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am going to agree with jjohnson on this one. For example: I am head of gear sales at Skydive Alabama and a student not long ago bought a entire new system. Granted, it was EXACTLY what he wanted and colors were EXACTLY what he wanted, BUT, on his 5th jump with the new gear, he traveled a tad bit too far "Downwind" than he should have and was directed by "Mother Nature" to land in the trees. HENCE tearing the "Ever-loving crap" out of his Brand new Spectre. Total on the damages: over $300.00... So, with that said, I am going to suggest finding some good used gear to learn on, that way if you "biff" into a mud hole or some trees, you are not going to feel as bad than if you were to tear up some new stuff! And that would be MY $0.02 worth! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!" -
WOW, what a lengthy topic!!! Seems as though there were several people getting irritated on here and some just trying to calm the instigator down! I for one appose the idea of regulating the footware of jumpers. That is all I have to say about that. LONG LIVE BAREFOOT JUMPING DAMMIT!!! Ohh, and I hook turn, too, sorry! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Hey, I used that excuse on my 1287th jump, it doesn't work then either! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Since the cold weather has grounded my wingsuit for the time being, I have been attempting to work on my carving swoop! My question is: What is the key to being "consistant" on the carves? I have done about 10 or so and only have pulled off maybe 4 or 5. So, I am not sure if I am waiting too long to shift body wieght or not shifting soon enough. the 4-5 that i DID pull off were incredible. Just not sure how in the hell I did it?!?!?!? I am flying a Stiletto 97 loaded at about 2:1 and I can't seem to time it right to initiate the carve. Exactly at what point do you shift wieght or toggle or whatever the hell you are supposed to do. I wish like hell I could figure out what I did on the "successful" carves. Any pointers would be highly appreciated! Thanks. No, no, being a past artilleryman, THAT is funny as hell. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

its the only thing i think about

I used to not be able to think about anything but Skydiving and women, but once I realized how evil women are, my life has been a lot less stressful. (*Umm, to all those women that come to this forum, that was a joke, please do not proceed with the "manbashing" comments. Just trying to make the newcomer smile a little)... Welcome to the forums, sweetjava77 "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!" -
You mustn't forget the "-1B", I can't remember if they were the ones with the toggles or not, imagine a round with toggles, SCARY!!! Served 5 years w/ the 82d Airborne, gotta say that life did not begin until I hit the "Freefall" stage, something about those Combat Night jumps that didn't really "flip my cookie"... Not too mention I was with the 2/319th Artillery, cannon cocker, thunder Rabbit, however you want to refer to us, but I am a much happier man since I graduated to Ellipticals. 1,300+ jumps later and I have FINALLY got all those "round memories" out of my skull. Welcome to the forums, dude!!! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Damn, I would absolutely love to come down there, warm weather and all, but unfortunately for me, I am the head Videographer/coach/gearsales dude for our DZ, so my roots have kinda got me stuck. Feel free to come here though. Just a thought, thanks for the invite though. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Hey man, welcome to the forums and sorry about the misfortune of your current place of residence. I served over there the first time and I definitely feel you guys have it rougher, Way different over there now then it was in 90-91'... Anyway, good luck and hurry back, there is far too much sky to fill up by ourselves, we need more people in the air. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Welcome Nataly, Now for the advice! Don't sweat the small stuff, Fly to Tampa--Go to Zhills, excellent people there. Two: Just got back from Bosnia, Congrats and thanks. A skydiving trip is definitely what you need. But don't cancel out Skydive Alabama. Sure it is colder than Zhills, but that is all relative anyway, isn't it? Anyway, no matter where you go, you will have a great time, there is nothing better than a bunch of hooligan skydivers to make a person smile and feel better knowing that there are people out there worse off than you! (*that would be a joke, please, no hate mail, I love you all, I'm just one of those that is really bad off ) "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Hey Beth, welcome to the ONLY sport in the world. Oh, and ordinarily I tend to stay away from people that are "Harmless- Most of the time", but I have a good feeling about you. With that said, keep us posted throughout your parrells of becoming one of us! But keep in mind that you will never look back to the days of "non-airbath-ness!" Good luck with it. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Greetings and Salutations!!! This place ROCKS! But will warn you, it is very addicting! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

You mean there is supposed to be a specific way to fold those damn things? Just kidding, if it is able to come out, go with it. Personally, I like to iron mine right before I put it in the BOC. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

I just wish I could find that out, desperately looking for someone to flock with! Chuck, don't you have to come visit your sister this weekend? Ha Ha "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Valentines Day Boogie @ Skydive Alabama
crawford replied to crawford's topic in Events & Places to Jump
This is going to be a blast, No registration fee, Chile cook off Saturday evening and $16.00 jumps Sunday for those that sign in with a date for Saturdays party, (*Does not have to be a girlfriend/boyfriend or whatever, designed specifically to get some people out for some fun). Bonfire and lots of "Tall Tales". Everyone welcome and the more the merrier! Come one, Come All!! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!" -
This is just basically for our "low-timers" at the dz. (*Well, it will benefit everyone, but we have a lot of jumpers with less then 200 jumps that would benefit from a seminar greatly.) Hell, it would be awesome to take a "Field trip" to Deland, but it would be hard to get their parents/wives to sign a consent form. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

I am interested in finding someone that is willing to come to our DZ and put on a canopy control seminar for our jumpers. We have a lot of people interested in attending such a seminar but I really don't know who I need to contact. Our Dz is located in North Alabama so someone close would be a plus. If any of you are in that field, please contact me either at "birdman@swoopyourassoff.com" or "crawford@dropzone.com"... Would like to have a seminar in March or April. Please let me know. Thanks. I have had one cutaway with the BM Skyflyer back in November. Was jumping a Wings container with a Stiletto 97 that I had just received from PD as a demo until MY 97 was done with its reline. It was my 65th BM jump and pitched at 5,000 like normal. It was probably my most stable, picture perfect deployment yet with this suit, but for some reason, (*Yeah, ok, I have narrowed it down to NOT having the dynamic corners in the container) the stiletto spun up like a top. I was immediate on my back but knew that I had plenty of time, so I undid right arm zipper, check altimeter, undid left zipper, check altimeter, attempted to clear twist, (*Yeah, that was a joke) check altimeter, screamed out "I just had this freakin' reserve packed, S-O-B, and cutaway by 3,000. All relatively uneventful, but pissed me off, none the less. Lets just say that I have dynamic corners now. Ok, guys and gals. All details have been worked out and there will be a BM-I course March 20-21 at Skydive Alabama, Cullman, AL. I am now taking info on those that are interested in attending. I will need a firm confirmation in order to lock in Chuck. If you need any further information, please contact me either at "birdman@swoopyourassoff.com" or "crawford@dropzone.com" "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Dude, congrats on being one of the few! That is awesome that is that early. BUT, I am a little concerned about your signature! The first stage is to admit you have a problem... "Necro-beastiality"???? "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"

Sorry for the late input, but I had to add to all of the others. It may be overdone, but I really really like the "silver tin foil" look on the wings. I think that is bad as shit. But I think that everyone has placed some very good ideas out there. Do what you want dude, be unique, go for the gusto and all that other peptalk stuff. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
