    SpaceX landing

jfc some humans are really fucking impressive
  2. I would say avoid working for all of them.
  3. They look fine How do they feel? I get my Spectre 135 @ 1.35 to open in about 600 ft which is good for me.
  4. jumping 6 in a 206U is miserable and scary, I swear to go we barely cleared the 10ft fence surrounding the airport every time we did it.
  5. I was shown once, walked through it once and then thrown to the wolves. I guess there was a couple people watching from the background after that to which I was unaware of. First pack jobs were 45-50 minutes a piece. Over time I've gotten tandems down to 12 if I'm in a hurry but I don't like to hurry. But time and practice, grasshopper.
  6. I feel there is a specific place you could call or email that would have all the answers an internet message board might not have...
  7. Scan and email to membership@yaddayadda. Now you will only need 3 stamps Scanners? Who has those things? I just take a picture of mine after it is complete and email it to USPA, never had an issue.
  8. 1 in 3000 tandems Harness snug on the ground, leg straps TIGHT. Adjustments in the plane depend on the student body type. Small thin people, back laterals tightened slightly. Fronts not touched. Huge and fat people back laterals tightened and fronts a couple inches depneding on the person and how I feel about them. It's something I've developed over 3000 tandems. Crank down on a small slim person and that person will be riding so high you can't see over them, don't crank down on a huge person and they will be riding at your feet. I also believe in the theory that if they can't stand on the ground, they can't arch in the air. I worked for a cessna operation with the same two TI's for a couple years. They CRANK their harnesses in the plane, like to the point that when they are hook the students are basically hunched over in a seated position while they are standing. Their students almost always knee flew them, no wonder huh. I also swear I've had like 2 students in 3000 that I've had to lift their feet for landing. Pretty much everyone that I tell them to lift their knees immediately get put into a seated position in the harness once under canopy.
  9. I'm 145 and have taken 280 out of a narrowbody 182 a few times for the fat pay. It's a lot of work, and definitely student dependent. I think all were taller than me 6'4+ with I swear them all being like 6'6 to 6'8. Big ripping guys. Definitely possible, lot of work though. Although freefall when they arch is easy, kinda like riding a sled.
  10. Skydivers are a bunch of narcissists that love hearing themselves talk. You'll be ok.
  11. My apologies, I thought it was the firewall seat. My statements were for the firewall seat. The behind the pilot seat has plenty of room to hook up.
  12. I do find that weird. And as to why anyone would want someone sitting in their lap for a 20 minute ride up is beyond me. The 3 minutes it takes to hook up is plenty to make my legs to numb. I've got about 2000 tandems or so out of a narrow body 182, I prefer a forward kneeing exit, but after many many tandems doing that, I finally gave in and started doing some sitting exits from the "old man slot" with smaller people to give the knees a break. You have to hook up the laterals before the door closes but they don't get put in my lap until the laterals need to be tightened. I don't have much experience with wide body 182s, few hundred jumps at most, many, many tandems ago.
  13. What others have said, proper flaring tequnie and plfs are key. Having said that, I noticed that my feet and legs hurt a whole lot less after a day of tandems once I started jumping in running shoes. Nike Flex are what I rock.
  14. If you love the lifestyle and want to live it full time, go for it. I did it for 8 years, I bought a house and I'm back in college now, 8 years was enough.
  15. The Spectre is not a rectangle canopy and it you load it up it is not boring either. You did get one thing right, though; it will last 2K+ jumps. Meh sorry, looks real square above my head.
  16. It's all pretty much been covered but... Freeflying is hard, incredibly hard. And anyone that is good at it has sunk a lot of money into it. It's easy to jump with some newbie off of aff and do some belly flying. I've spent a lot of time with 300 jump wonders that want to sit fly and all you do is chase their back sliding ass across the sky. I'm not saying you are one of those newbies. Group sizes are also an issue. I get all nervous on a three way with two FF newbies, because it's already a zoo die. You approach a group of 4-6 belly fliers and one more won't make any difference. You take a FF 2 way and make it a 3 way and its pretty much a zoo dive at that point. Wingsuiting is easy and their arn't may people that do it. If you won't jump with anyone you are probably jumping alone. Belly jumping is easy. FFing is hard. Real hard. I totally understand what you are saying because at times I feel that way too. But if a 2 or 3 way FF group is turning points and transitions, they don't want you on their dive. It's not any different that a 4 way belly team that's turning 20 points not wanting you on a dive. Sack up and go spend 10k on FFing and you won't get your feelings hurt anymore.
  17. Why? f111 wears out. Get a spectre, it is an old boring rectangle 7 cell that just opens and you'll get 2k+ jumps out of it.
  18. Interesting relevant thread over on the BASE forums http://www.basejumper.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2987692;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Minimize the risk, jump small groups, jump a large 7 cell (Spectre) canopy, and have an ADD and you'll probably be fine. But then again you can do everything right...
  19. Nexus 6p on Google Fi
  20. Should of spent that money on jumps
  21. Ya, mine does that too. It will also freeze up directly after leaving the plane keeping the needle at exit altitude and sometimes mid-skydive. Both of those require a hard reset with a needle in the back with the battery removed, which is super fun when you are turning 15-20 tandems a day. This also causes it not to log the jump. Because I'm OCD I have to get it to the right jump number which can take hours at times because it doesn't like to go below 9999, it rolls over to 19999 and then I have to watch it count down again. After many many tries it'll roll over to 9998, which then you have to be super careful not to go past your number because you have to start infuriating the 9999/19999 process back over again. I emailed them about it locked up once a long time ago and they said to do the needle reset thing. I've never emailed them back with all the further problems partly due to my own laziness and partly due to me thinking they won't care. I don't really care about not having it under canopy, just land the pattern by eye sight. Freefall with tandems is a bit more fun an problematic. Almost got caught with my pants down once or twice.
  22. I had one of those once, it left me. Along with my helmet and sunglasses. Twas a bad jump.
  23. really? really?!? how do people live without ad block?
