1400 is far from genius level. You typically need 1520 to be considered for admission to MIT, for example. And even then, those tests are very poor predictors of ability to solve novel problems or create new ideas. "Demonstrated ability" only works if your circumstances are such that you have had the opportunity to demonstrate.
