I was just wondering if there were going to be any qualified FF coaches at Eloy for the holiday boogie as I'm guessing that Ortiz and Arizona FF will be booked up by now.

The PC101 is by no means a bad camera for camera flying. It's what I have and another guy on my DZ has the PC9 which is almost identical to the 101. The images are extremely crisp, clear and look great even when displayed on a big screen. The PC120 in my opinion doesn't offer as big a quality jump to make it worth the extra money. You aren't going to notice the quality difference on a TV anyway if you transfer the video to VHS or watch it on a regular TV. For instance, the PC9 has 500 lines of resolution, the 101 has 530, but the human eye will not notice this difference because 500 lines of resolution on a TV screen is already the maximum resolution that the TV will display. This is the same principal with the 120, although it may shoot higher quality, you won't be able to tell on a TV screen. It has a lot of other features you may want for other things but if your concern is quality and price the 101 would be the better choice. If you want a camera to shoot tandems, freefly etc... and show to your friends and sell to tandems, the PC101 would be fine. If you want any additional info, call B&H Photo/Video in New York. Their operators can answer any questions you have and will help you make the right choice for your needs. When you decide what camera you want to buy, you might want to go to Sears and ask them about price matching, then go find a price on-line for an import with no accessories and have them match it with the full USA warrantied camera with accessories. I did this and got my 101 for $800. Otherwise, I'd buy from B&H or A&M photoworld. They are both good places in my experience.

I am trying to get my hand directly out in front of me in a sit so I can reach out to dock on someone when they're Headdown. Any tips on how to do this would be appreciated. I got it pretty good once and my legs were just really un-level to prevent any turning and the next time I tried I just got pretty unstable. Since I've only tried it twice I need to do a lot more jumps getting it down, but if anyone has any easy tips or tricks, they would be appreciated.

I'll be there.

I forgot, if I don't go with Mindwarp, I was going to get a 2k Comp. FF2 camera helmet that has a nice chincup. It's a lot more expensive, but if a chincup is worth it....
-
If you want to shoot freefly video with a PC101 with a .47 or maybe a .3 wide angle, do you really need a chin cup? I was thinking about just getting a mindwarp and L bracket.

Does anyone have any experience with the original Sidewinder and what is your opinion of it?

I am getting ready to buy a camera and a helmet to put it in. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the PC7 and PC9 or 101. I was wondering how the PC7 compares in quality and size to the PC9 and 101. I was also wondering if anyone has any experience with the 2k composites helmets. They look really nice and snag free, but I haven't seen anyone jumping one. Thanks

I thought that premiere could work with those, maybe its just MPEG format. I would get onto Adobe's website and search it to see if there's anything there, if not, call technical support. I don't have anything in MPEG2 format, so I can't screw with it on my system, but I do know that MPEG2 is the format DVD's use.

I am getting ready to buy a camera and was considering the IP5 until I was told about this problem from my camera dealer. They told me that the camera would require special hardware installed into your computer so that you could import the footage. After it is imported it is MPEG2 format which Preimere and many other editors can work with. I'm assuming you just need the special hardware that communicates with the camera's "Blue Tooth" technology which I'm sure Sony would be glad to sell you. Hope this helps, Chris

I jump a "slightly loved" safire too and it opens soft every time, I actually have to do a deep flare with the rear risers to get the slider to come all the way down. But my rigger also said the slider is HUGE, so someone may have put a bigger one on b/c it was slamming them. Call Icarus and ask them about it, maybe you could get a little bit bigger slider.[reply

If you had twists in your brake lines they could have developed a tension knot that would have caused the turn. When you landed, the knot would have gone away because the tension was gone. Make sure to untwist your brake lines whenever they are twisted.

You have to be a full time student (be taking 12 hours) and there are certain things that can disqualify you. I think its something like if you are over 25 AND have been in the sport for more than 5 years AND have more than 1000 jumps. Something like that.

I was wondering if there are any collegiate jumpers out there who might be interested in a 4-way team at nationals this year. We might be able to meet and practice at Couchfreaks, Summerfest, or WFF. I know a couple people that might be interested, but if your interested, email me at SkydiveKU@hotmail.com Blues, Chris

I had a bad experience under canopy last weekend. I recently got a new canopy loaded at 1.2 with 120 jumps. I had put 25 jumps on it without even falling down. Every landing in all kinds of wind was pretty much perfect. I wasn't doing any low turns and didn't intend to any time soon. However, on the second load of the day I was coming in straight and just got a little complacent about what I was doing. I starting worrying about the people watching I forgot that crashing was something I needed to worry about. I wasn't concentrating on what I was doing so I ended up flaring low. The crash wouldn't have been that bad except that because I got too complacent I didn't have my feet and knees together either. I crashed and sprained an ankle and a knee. I'll be jumping in another two to three weeks and it could have been a lot worse. I just wanted to tell everyone about this because its something you don't think about until you have to spend two weekends looking at blue skies and no wind while your inside watching bad skydiving movies. I got too comfortable under canopy and didn't think that it could hurt me and I got a not so nice wake-up call. There are probably lots of new jumpers out there at my experience level trying out new canopies so remember that every canopy out there can hurt you one way or the other so don't get too comfy and end up on the couch like me.

I can sympathize with you, I'm a photographer, but I bought all my camera gear before I got into skydiving. I'd say unless you want to work for a newspaper or shoot sports (like basketball, not skydiving) then buy a cheaper camera and a main, but not a hornet.

I am in the market for a new main and was wondering if there was anyone out there who has flown a heatwave and a safire. I weigh 230 out the door and flew a demo Safire 189. I know the heatwave has a pretty good price. How does it compare as far as turn speed, forward speed, diving characteristics, corss-control and oversteer?
