  1. Sounds just like me!!! Been falling off boards now for about 6 or 7 years now. Falling with style in the words of Buzz!!
  2. Thanks guys, thats the movie. Somebody did a chopjob on it and threw in a whole load of other funny stuff and knocked up a youtube vid called terror from 13000ft. Would love to see that again. Cheers folks.
  3. Hi guys, its been a while since I dropped in here, but I've got a quick non skydive question I hope someone can help me with. I came across a really funny vid on Youtube I think ages ago about a new skydiver taking instruction with really funny clips from other movies used, I think the Vid was called "terror from 13000ft" or something like that. It was removed, I believe because of the title but it was the funiest thing I's ever seen, one part of it is an instructor showing how to spot on a blackboard, scribblinbling all over the place... I know its a long shot but would anyone here know of the clip or where I could find it. Many thanks in advance. Blue skies. Iceage.
  4. Outstanding, you looked so happy, big smiley face.
  5. yeah,,, theres a few of us lurking around, keep looking up at those clouds.
  6. Groovey, who makes those (yes, I said groovey)
  7. Surely someone has in all the years of Skydiving taken these tests. If not, whos gonna go first?
  8. I considered sticking my Polar hrm. on when i jumped, but decided not to, I use it when I run or cycle. I was interested to see where I would peak out as i went out! I meant to ask the instructors whould there be any problem using a device like a hrm which transmits the info from a chest strap to the watch but completely forgot about it until I was half way home.
  9. "A couple of hundred Jumps!!" I'm trying to phych myself up for No.2
  10. Now that I've got that first one out ogf the way, I fancy a tandem from higher than my 3500ft. S/L
  11. Cheers guys, thst clears up a few things for sure, as I said I hope it didn't rattle too many cages. Blues Skys to all. Iceage.
  12. Guys before i start let me apologise if this has been asked before. I managed finally a couple of weeks ago to pull my finger out, and do a S/L jump. Some of my mates seem to think a S/l isn't really skydiving as you jump/fall/leap or stumble out of a plane, get your chute pulled for you and float to earth, versus a jump from higher altitude with longer freefall tandem or otherwise. So what do you reckon, is S/l skydiving? I hope I haven't rattled anyones cage with this noobie question.
  13. hmmm, its funny that, When i decided that for my first jump it had to be a S/L because I needed to at least try and attempt all of it on my own so to speak. literally falling out of an aircraft is quite easy I found, (Jeez i hope that doesn't sound too bigheaded!) and after that its really a case of do as you were instructed, and you should be fine and thats exactly how it was. On the day of my jump there were Tandem Jumpers as well and I have to admit to being slightly jealous firstly as their instuction took only 20min. and they have the whole freefall thingy. So it seems Now I have to get a bit of that! It was really a parachute jump i did, 3-4sec on the end of a leash is completely differant to 20-30 secs of freefall. Or am I being too critical?? How do others here feel about that? Think I might ask this out on the forum.
  14. Go higher next time! I've also been trying to convince some of my mates to try it as well....not much luck there! Just a whole load of muttering "crazy bast*rd" and such like! This sport NOT is for everyone I've found out
  15. http://www.skydiveireland.ie/contact.php Skydive Ireland Erinagh Airfield Erinagh, Capparoe Nenagh Co. Tipperary They are a great bunch of guys there, and like yourself I never knew they were there. I thought when I was trying to organise the jump i would have to head to Dublin or some such place but I was delighted to find this motley crew I did the S/L day course WOW! taught me everything I needed to know to get out of a perfectly good aircraft and we were blessed with the weather, we managed to jump that evening heading into a glorious sunset! As to jumping again...i'm in negotiations as we speak!!! Blue Skys.
  16. Hi all, should have posted here first anyway, as it says above I finally did it and managed to tick this off my to-do list. This is something that I've wanted to do for so long now. WOW! what an experince, its just a shame it didn't do down to well with my wife and family! But they understood it was something I needed to do. After having the time to think about it I have realised that this has taught me to really appreciate the beauty of life and love, friends and family. Heart pumping preparation, followed by a mind blowing accent to exit, topped off with the most peaceful couple of minutes under the snazziest canopy I've ever seen. I'm grinning from ear to ear just thinking about it!
  17. Please forgive guys, and I mean all of you. I'm only at this a wet weekend literally but the instuction we were given was: Arch, Look, Locate, Release, Reserve, Arch. This seemed to work fine for all of us and on my first jump, our No. 5 in the group had almost made the decision to do so( felt he had an unstable wing) he decided to stay with it, pumping brakes which sorted it all out, but on the ground he told me it was clear as day what he had to do. Arch, Look(find them) locate(grab, or take a firm hold of with thumb inside the D ring) Release, Reserve, Arch. Again forgive me for being a cheeky pup!!
