  1. yea i ordered mine yesterday, i just have to call em back still to let them know my address is correct. later
  2. the canopy that i had was all blue (like a baby blue kind of ) with white dimonds and white x braces. and the label said it was a 95. they could have just changed the label on it. later
  3. i jumped the same 105 that vern had, and the dive sucks really. i can garuntee it will dive less than your 125 does. i jumped vern's 111 velo just this past weekend, and it dives way more than the onyx. like vern said, the canopy has potential, if they make it dive more it would be a pretty phat canopy i'm sure. i'm getting a 85 and 95 in this weekend to try out, maybe loaded up more it will perform better (but i'm not counting on a whole lot better). i may throw on some lead with the 85 (get the loading up at like 2.8 or 2.9) and see how it flys there too. later
  4. i'm assuming the same thing, but i don't know. bram told me this a year ago, and then i saw him this past winter with the same line set, but i didn't ask if he had changed the brake lines. i'm guessing yes. later
  5. a horseshoe mal. think it's because my dad's double mal was due to a horseshoe on the main. later
  6. bram clemet has a crossfire that has over 1000 jumps on it, and he's still jumping it. he used to spend the winters in AZ, but now he spends them in zhills. he plans to go on this line set until he has a line break is what he told me. later
  7. man that's nothing. i've had my rig taken away before, on more than one occasion. but they never have sold it...........yet. but then again, they may have tried, but it's kind of hard to sell a 85 vx, or my old canopy an 84 fx. i've had my cut away handle taken before, but i just found another in the back and put it in, and got on the next load and my friend vern, before he turne 18, his dad put a lock around the reserve handle on the harness, so vern gets a pair of bolt cutter's and cuts the fucker off, and jumps the rest of the day later
  8. yea but that dudes crazy maybe i can be like him one day just let me get ahold of that 60 he had. later
  9. if i make it down to tx one of these days i'll show you a good whip for a turn, i'll do a phatty 720 and scare the shit out of ya, and then you'll know what whipping a turn is . but for the most part, the general opinion of most people would say that is a whip, or a snap. but in my book it's not, but people look at things very different. when i grew up swooping we snapped the shit out of our canopies, we didn't know any better. then i learned if i don't just grab a riser and yank, i get more speed. it's all on how you look at things. it's one of those is the glass half full or half empty..............ok maybe not really but it's kind of like that............right btw, i'm not one to take control of any conversation, i only put my own experience/opinions out there, there are MUCH more qualified people that could answer his question, better than I that is for sure., maybe one day i can be a real skygod ok, j/k i am a skygod later
  10. i had 2 in about 50 jumps, around like 500 or so. and i haven't had any more since (knock on wood). later
  11. it's not like a whip that i think your thinking of. ok, he's not grabbing a riser and yanking on it and whipping around really, it's a smooth turn, it's just faster than what a common "carve" you'll see on an everyday weekend. go to pd's web site and check out his turns, or all of the teams turns for that matter. what some of the competitors are doing that i've seen is a slower 90 (maybe a bit less) and then "whipping" the rest of the 270 around pretty quickly. this is what i personally do, and it get great distance and speed from it. but something that is as equally important as the whole turn wheather you want to whip (snap turn) it around, carve (never horizontal with the canopy) or do the "hook/carve" as i call them (not a snap turn, but you get flat with the canopy) is hitting the power band, if you can't get that then you mine as well give up in a comp, because the big doggs are everytime, and until you can, you don't have chance
  12. shit if you had line twist you could just reach above it and spin the canopy in the direction you want it to go but from the pictures it doesn't look like it opens too soft, and that's sub terminal, so a terminal opening is only going to be worse, that's my guess.
  13. i'm going to agree, but only to a point. a really slow carve will build up a lot of speed, i'll give you that. but if you start the turn a bit slow, and then bring it around quicker, that is where you speed is at. what kills your speed is an abrubt turn, if you start somewhat slow, and then speed the turn up, and get flat with the canopy, and let it dive that is where the speed is at (aka the most distance). check out the pd guys, specificaly heath, he really almost "whips" a turn around, and he is winning with the turns he's doing. later
  14. i'll let anyone borrow my gear if they can fly it, and that is a limited number of people that can safely fly an 85 vx. the only thing i ask is if you use it, pack it back up. if you damage it, pay for the repairs. if you have a cut away, i'll help you find my parts, and if they can't be found, then they need to be replaced (like if you throw a handle or we can't find the freebag or something). and that's how i've always been with my gear, and always will be, because like i said there is only a limited number of people that can fly my stuff, so not many people ask later
  15. wings has a twin tuck tab on the pud for pull out. and on my old rig i put about 600+ jumps on never had any problem (aka, falling out of the pocket), and still fits in like it was new (which i'm pretty sure the mirage is the same way) later
  16. zhills has a nice pond. it's like 40 or 50 ft wide by 185 ft. i'm not sure about any other dz's having a pond right on the airport. if you make it up to GA, skydive the farm has 2 ponds (only 1 that is pretty open, the other is kind of tight getting in to it). atlanta skydiving center has a nice pond too. and they both have cheap hop n pops. later
  17. i've tried pulling straight down, pushing out, and pushing forward, and can not tell any difference, other than when you push forward it looks like your not flaring, so it kind of looks cool. later
  18. i would say if you pack 5 other wings that come out fine every time, and dont' have any problems then i would say the rig may be built slightly incorrectly, maybe a bit small for the guy, or the cut is wrong for the riser flaps. i would call ankie at sunrise and talk to her to see what she says, she may pass you on to someone else, or have a quick answer for you. later
  19. the openings are a nice snivel with a hard pop at the end (granted i only put like 6 jumps under it, but it opened this way every time). it has a great glide, you can get back from long spots no problem. but the downside to that is it doesn't dive for shit. to get any speed you have to do a really long carve, and i personally am not into that. i like to do a quicker turn and let the canopy dive straight down at my line, with time to adjust. i only got 6 jumps under it, so i didn't really get to play with rears a lot, but they didnt' seam to have a lot of power, but it could of just been deeper into them. front riser pressure is light, rears is pretty heavey (compared to my vx). over all, i'm not really super impressed with the canopy at a loading of like 2.1. i'm going to try a smaller one load it up at like 2.5 or so and see how it flys, but i'm not expecting much better. i think it needs longer lines or a higher angle of attack (to make it dive better) and it would be a much better canopy. edit: oh yea, they didn't tell me i had a 105 until the day it was due back. later
  20. i just got done with an onyx demo. they think i got the wrong canopy though, i asked for a 95 and they sent me a 105 that was marked as a 95 or something. i'm not sure. later
  21. no you see i'm PHat. and you see us fat kids can jumps the bigger canopies and get the long as swoops with out having to pile on the lead. later
  22. me and big perm will be there. and if bus doesn't get called into work, i'm sure he'll be down too. later
  23. i'm going to have to say that the swoop was a phat swoop, very long. no one can deny that. but from those wind blades, it really looks like a bit more than 5 mph. but i wasn't there, so who knows later
