  1. what's up mary that's cool that you got a camera. are you wanting to put both your still and video on at the same time?? if so, i wouldn't put them on your bonehead, you'll have a lot of money into it and when it's all said and donw you'll wished you'd gone with a different helmet (other than the mindwarp), i know i do, i'm saving up to buy something else because my mindwarp sucks ass for video (well tandem anyway). if you need any help setting it up, bring it over to richmond one weekend i'm sure we can get it set up. later
  2. you know after i thought about this, i have it backwards, i was rather tired last night when i wrote this. your right the front is very manageable, very, i was thinking rears, they are heavy as shit. as far as the vx goes, right, the pressure is like nothing compared to my old 85 my bad later
  3. adjusting trim isn't an easy thing to do. if you adjust the trim, even a little bit, you change everything about the canopy from how much glide you get, riser pressure, toggle pressure, how much flare power you have. so unless someone has done a lot of test jumps to change the trim of the stock safire 2's then no, you can't change the trim. and as far as what the effects would be, who knows, canopies are stange animals, a lot of factors to consider that could change the openings, line trim just being on of them. and i'm not sure what size canopy you jump, but i know i've put a few jumps on a safire 2 139, and even it's riser pressure was heavy (very). later
  4. at my dad's old dz we never charged a student for a repack, or anyone who was renting gear. same goes for any handles lost or damage done to the gear. later
  5. both are great rigs, but i really like the wings (i'm on my third). the price is cheaper and the delivery time is shorter than the jav. in my opinion i think the wings is more comfortable, but that's just my opinion. later
  6. i have a few jumps on heatwaves (500 on a 120, and about another 200 on 135's and a 100). i have about 300 jumps on a 170 hornet and about 25 on a 150. the heatwave turns much faster and has a much shorter toggle stroke. the heatwave has more squily openings, or well can get a lot more squily a lot faster. the dive is pretty similar, but the heatwave does dive more after a hook. the heatwave in a great canopy, i loved my old 120, i wish i never would have sold it, one of the best canopies i've ever owned. later

  8. pull up cords are the poor mans belt i've used them many times as a belt, just tie around 2 belt loops and you good to go. later
  9. that's what was happing to me, i went from my fx to a vx that was a much better canopy and swooped a lot futher, and it just seamed like i should be stopping when i still had more distance and flare left. later
  10. now not seeing your landing you have to take this with a grain of salt, but i know on my old vx when i was running out landings a lot it was because i wasn't really finishing the flair. i was putting down my feet when i still had more flair left. basically just make sure your getting your hands as far down as they will go and hold it there and don't put your feet down yet, the canopy will stop (well almost anyway). this is what worked for me anyway. later
  11. open a beer and drink it, then you can be mad that your the only one who can't jump when the weather breaks later
  12. as far as his canopy goes, i guess you've never seen andy jump. i'm not sure exactly what size he has, i think he has a couple canopies, and it wouldn't surprize me one bit for him to have that size canopy. i know a couple years ago he had like a 64. later
  13. my guess is it really is andy, he's odd like that. damn south african's.............. J/K. later
  14. 50 wpm, with 5 mistakes. later
  15. that's kick ass 3 of us (me, vern alexander, and paul rousow) 2 years ago on new years just before midnight swooped the pond down there. it was super cool. the colored light should be really cool for pictures and visuals. i can't wait to see some of the video or stills from it. later
  16. that's kick ass. but what the hell is up with his helmet?? later
  17. aerodyne used to have a AR-11 that was an 11 cell that opened really bad. icarus proto typed a 11 cell crossed braced canopy. i'm pretty sure the old racer tandem canopy was an 11 cell, it also opened bad until they put the sharkes teeth of the front of the nose to slow air getting into the canopy. for some reason most 11 cells open harder,i'm not sure why. later
  18. hell no man. tequila is the BEST, i don't think i could go out without doing at least one shot. good luck though, but lets face it, tequila rocks, and you can't live without it. later
  19. how much downwind was it?? i thought before if it was more than 5 mph then it wasn't a record, right. later
  20. i think the upsize trend will stay, but loading up the canopies more will possibly come from this. and if the loading of the canopies is giving them this distance, you still don't want these higher wing loadings for freestyle, carving, or accuracy. so if this is a trend that is going to start, it's going to be people buying weight belts and vests. just my opinion though. edit: and us fat kids will have the advantage now, we don't have to buy as much lead later
  21. i don't know about the trim, but when i had my 85, and demo'd a 84 velo, the velo's lines were almost a foot longer than the vx's when laid down next to each other ready to go in the bag. later
  22. ***That's some interesting info. I posed the question because i was kind of wondering why it seems the velocity and their pilots are going so much further than VX and other 27 chambered canopies. so here's another question for you guys then. Do you think the velocity as a canopy is better then the VX or XAOS or any other canopy out there? or is it the pilot that is making up the difference right now? My thought is that the canopies today are so similar that there is really very little advantage between the brands, and that the pilots are making the difference. *** i think it's the pilots, but a good person to ask would be jonathan tagle, cosidering he was jumping a vx all season and has now gone to a velo. but, if you look at the distance scores, jc was up there in distance too, and so was clint clawson. i think it's the pilots. no question the lack of lines will help, but i don't think it will help that much considering the new record was done with the bag and pilot chute still on. later
  23. the reason i have always been told from pd was less drag. this is the same reason the new proto type "z brace" is a 7 cell design. later
  24. that would make sense, or on the key pad the 2 is right under the 5, so maybe 2.2?? 2.5 would be a lot for a velocity, they don't seam to handle the weight like a vx does (in my opinion). later
