to be honest what do you expect??? i mean there isn't much more you can do to make the containers different ya know. maybe someone just for the hell of it should make a container with the reserve on bottom and the main on top. there isn't really much more to do. later

pd has a proto type "z brace" canopy. it's a 5 chamber per cell with cross bracing.......the drawing above is correct. pd also has a reserve they are considering releasing, it is made of a new material that packs 20% smaller than the reserve of the same size. they had a pd 143 and the new proto type 143 right next to each other, the standard one was in a normal freebag for the size, the proto type was in a standard pd 106 freebag (that's what i was told from one of the workers there). it packs a lot smaller for sure, but it will cost more to build because the material costs more. they where taking a survey to see if people would buy a new reserve just because it packs smaller (this way you can have a larger reserve in the same small container). icarus had there reserve there, it's waiting on paperwork to get back from the FAA i guess. aerodyne didn't have anything new, but the replacement for the Amax will be out "soon" i was told. aerodyne also had there tandem rig there that is just being used for military right now, they said they may bring it to the market, i think they should it looks pretty kick ass. sunpath had a interesting rig there made out of like the carpet you put in an outside covered room with a football in the middle of it, i think built for the upcoming super bowl. that's all i can think of right now. later

all over it looks like shit until monday or tuesday........i'll be in town until wed around 1 or 2. i'm sure they'll be a sucker hole somewhere we could get up thru later

they jump javelins, jeff, joal, and zach. i know jeff's is an rs.5 or .1, and i'm sure joals and zach's are the same. and the harness's aren't really that small, all those kids are tall. liability?? what do you mean??? later

hell yea little P. glad to hear you back jumping again!!!! i'll be down in your area friday, we'll have to go make a jump since we never did when ever you came to richmond, we always just ended up partying all day........ later

2005 Pro Tour Schedule is out!
skygod7777 replied to CanopyPiloting's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
and that sucks, i'm down for the cpc but i don't understand why the qualifiers are going away.....i mean, they way i read i would have to compete for the season in a league before i could next year even have the chance to go to a pst meet. i mean if that's the way it is, then that's fine, i'll deal with it, but it seams like last years comps with qualifiers for advanced pilots was better. i don't know, someone explain it to me, i'm stupid later -
dude, you're telling me. i've had this velo 96 for about 2 and half months and still haven't gotten to put 1 jump on it damnit. or any jumps at all for that matter, and my last jump before that was taking my dad's tandem rig on a solo jump. well, i do at least get to put some jumps on it next week in FL later

i'm not sure what birdlime is, but glue *could be i'm not sure be bad for the canopy..........and me personally (i don't know many glues granted) but don't glues dry hard???? so how would you pack it without cracking the glue later
-
how would you seal the stiches??? each time a needle goes thru the fabric it make a very small hole, and air does get out........so even if you could pump it up, how could you keep it inflated that way at all times without having to continually pumping (granted it doesn't let much air out, but it still does). later
-
yes the RAGE is ready, i have jumped it, the 107 and the 97..........but that design with crossbraces would be very difficult to build. later
-
a little while back this was discussed, i think the biggest problem would be the constuction, i'm not sure if you could make a canopy cross braced with that type of nose constuction........i mean, i may be eating my words, but it seams it would be very difficult to build but then again, brain germain built the sensi which is crossbraced and airlocked (not quite the same though) later
-
oh shit son, i know you didn't just say that.......i mean come on, you can go fast and carve hard with those, but really how you going to do a phatty lazyboy with a hang glider later
-
who knows where it could go, but i do know the a more ridged wing is what we're looking for..........have you ever seen the speed gliders?? i've never seen them in real life, but i've seen some shows on them and god damn are they fast, and as far as landing, they "swoop", if you want to call it that, for ever, much longer than what our canopies can do right now. just a thought. later
-
i have no clue what the record is, but the bigest i've ever seen was a 10 way round...........i know at the richmond boogie 2 years ago amy chelecki (sp?, sugar glider) was wanting to put toegether a 12 way sit that was going to be slot perfect and all that........a 4 way train, with 4 way stair steps on each leg of the person on the bottom of the train, but due to weather we never got it up. but i don't think there is an official record. later

i'm sure jim slaton knows all about the proto types, but i don't think he's really supposed to talk to much about them ya know. and as far as that 11 cell, i also heard that the dive wasn't as much as the other xbraced out there. the thing about 11 cells also is more lines which equals more drag..........i don't know what came about of the canopy, maybe the speed to drag difference wasn't enough to continue on with the proto type, or maybe it has and we just haven't heard much more about it. who knows. later

Aerodyne riser cable housing slipped out!
skygod7777 replied to ernokaikkonen's topic in Gear and Rigging
nice, straight to the point. but you are right and like you said, riser inserts need to be capped and tacked, if not your asking for trouble really. later -
you just wait until i turn 18 now later
-
right right oh yes, i guess i didn't really say that, i've seen 400 foot swoops, but everyone one i've seen/done was in like 15 knot downwinds , so they don't really count. i think there there will be more to some, i know icarus has some canopies in the works right now, the jvx that is about to be released here in the next few weeks is one that can handle higher wing loadings and still getting the same distance as a lighter loaded vx or velo.....at least this is was jim slaton has told me via e-mail. i'm calling it now, i think we will see more progression, and better canopy designs in the near future that will allow us to swoop longer, carve harder, and all with more speed..............if not at least i'm still going to think it so i feel better . and like i said, this is just my opinion on this, and opinions are like assholes.............everyone got em..........and they all stink later
-
i tihnk there is much more progression that can be done, but maybe not with the current canopies. another thing to think about is we already have seen 400+ swoops, the record is 435ft. i mean, there's always something to learn, even on the canopies we have today, no one gets a perfect swoop every jump. but, at this point the pro's are close to maxing out the canopies they have, but i'm sure icarus, or pd, or precision will come out with something that will take the progression of the sport even futher, maybe longer swoops, better carves, more speed.......or all of the above. just my thoughts on it though. later
-
before they allow you to even try head down in the tunnel you have to master sit flying and back flying........many many hours...........i'm not sure how much exactly it would take, but just guessing more than likely around 15 to 20 and that's if your really really good. later

Non chin cup, low profile camera helmets??
skygod7777 replied to weegegirl's topic in Photography and Video
get a hawkeye.........you don't have to get the chin cup with those. i think the new "gun rack" from bonehead is the bat rack with that new mount on it, i'd bet if you asked them nicely they would put the old style mount back on it..........but even the 1/2 racks came with a chin cup, the only ones i can think of that didn't have chin cup was marshels and sporto, i assuming that they must have put the chin strap on themselves (which isn't really a big deal either). later later -
just do what i do when i'm bored...........sleep . later
