  1. haha, well yea. you'll have to let me put a jump on that pilot one time though, and prove that a fat canopy can swoop . later
  2. kick ass looking rig dude. what size canopies?? lata
  3. i don't know if this happened at skydive america.......but when my dad's place shut down, a lot of people quit jumping, or have almost quit (maybe make like 50 jumps a year at most)........i talked to some of them, and they said it just wasn't the same as jumping at "home"..........so that's what could have happened to some. later
  4. he'll be hating himself for getting nextel........i HATE my nextel phone........the service (at least around here) isn't the best. next thing you know, he'll be wanting his old sprint phone back later
  5. hey peter, it's kelly the packer for martini shots at rantoul...........how you been bro. nice pics, kick ass promo video's on your site too. later
  6. haha, well i didn't really have much of a choice, a vx of the same size wouldn't fit into my container, so i was limited to velo's, fx's, or xaos 21's.......so a velo was my only real choice. later
  7. i would agree. in my case i bought my 85 vx loaded at 2.5. i had it for about a year and a half and gained some weight and got up to about 2.65. i had no plans to compete, i just wanted a fast canopy. i put about 400 jumps on it, and decided that i wanted to compete, so i sold it and bought a 96 velo. some other cases you may see is that everyone is starting to figured out also that 2.1 or 2.0 is best for distance, not 2.2 or 2.3 or even 2.4 so that's why they are upsizing. or the bigger canopies with lead go the distance better than a smaller one at the same wing loading. take luigi on icarus's team, he wheres like 50 pounds of lead to load up a larger canopy because he's a small guy and would load up a 70 at like 2.0. later
  8. i think it from when you where a student, which ever patern you wher taught is what you prefer. i'm right handed and all that stuff, at my dad's old dz we had a right hand pattern, so i did right hand hooks...........and everyone at the dz did right hand hooks.............when i moved to richmond everyone did left hand hooks...........there student progression is left hand pattern. later
  9. i've been jumping xbraced for about 700 jumps (300 on fx 84 and a few other sizes, about 400 on vx 85 and a number of other sizes, wing loadings from 2.65 to 1.8), and i have cut away once on a 78 fx, first jump on it. i've had line twist a few times, but i've always gotten out of them (knock on wood......). but on the other hand, i pull higher than some people (i try to pitch by 3.5k so i can be open at 3). that may have a factor i guess, i'll go to 1500 before i give up. my only other cut away was on a heatwave 120 that spun up on me, but i think if i got the same opening today, i could have gotten out of it. later
  10. i usually use nothing. sometimes, if there is a weight around i may throw it on there, but for the most part, none of the above. later
  11. that's what i've always have been told. if someone doesn't put something up tonight, i'll grab my far book from school tomorrow and see if i can find anything. later
  12. what's up, if there are no rides on the reserve then yes it is a good deal, if it does have rides, it's still not a bad deal, just not as good. i jump tempo reserve, and they are great reserves. they don't have as much lift as a pd or a smart, but they have plenty, and get you down just fine. i've got 1 ride on a tempo 170 and one on a tempo 150. as far as being used as a main, yes it can be done, and put back as a reserve. as long as a rigger deams it airworthy for a reserve. i think precision recomends you put a jump on your reserve before you have to use it. but your going to have a problem using a tempo as a main a lot because there is no attachment point on the top. later
  13. do nothing do you don't get blamed for killing anyone later
  14. this is some funny shit. this gives me something to do in class now. just can't laugh too much so the teacher doesn't come look at my computer later
  15. sunrise (wings) built me a rig for a tempo 170 reserve and a 84 extreme fx. there are manufacturers out there that will do it.
  16. i think you should look again, look at the tail, one side is pulled down while the other isn't. when it originally spun up, both brakes were set, kevin as he pulled his hand out fired the brake. so the searching of the canopy caused the line twists, but the brake fire reminded him they where there later
  17. nice. i like that. hey, your birthday is the day after mine. but i'll only be 17
  18. what's up i've had a few heatwaves (a 150, 135, 120, 100) and didn't have any problems when them until they started going out of trim. my dad has had 2 190's that went out of trim and where opening pretty hard. we put a pocket on the slider and that helped, but it only prolonged the problem. they best thing to do if you get the canopy is send it back to aerodyne and have them put a new line set on it. you may even ask for a vectran line set, vectran doesn't go out of trim. it won't last as long as spectra either though. but if you think about it, if you want the canopy to fly right, you'll have to replace the spectra when it start going out of trim, so i guess it's really a toss up. hope that helps. later
  19. tell us what you really think hans later
  20. i've gotten a rig with the pin stripes messed up. not really a big deal, i didn't send it back. i called the manu. and let them know, but i didn't really want to send the rig back just for that. i've had a canopy come with the wrong colors, . my first vx was ordered all yellow with 1 right blue endcell. it came gold with 2 blue end cells . it didn't really matter to me, colors aren't a big deal. and i ended up sending it back because it opened bad. later
  21. my first swoop was under a 190 conquest at a .9 to 1 wing loading. a no wind day and i did a little toggle turn to get into the landing pattern a little low and got a little surf. i thought it was way cool, so i started trying to do more. that was like 5 years ago. later
  22. i'll put a group of a few of us together for sure. later
  23. yea, before that it was a 46. micheal stevens used to jump a 58 xaos 21 (or maybe it was a 54, i can't remember) but he was a really small guy. i think precision is the smalles on there stock lists with a 58. later
  24. this is just too bad. chris was a kick ass guy. super cool. my condolences to his family. later
