*** "It would be even more dangerous for democracy to have someone decide on a threshold of knowledge/idiocy." don't you think that having people not know or understand what their representatives elect are doing, is even more dangerous?

*** "Would you be OK with that even if you didn't pass it, and thus became a second class non-voting citizen? " absolutely, for the same reason i do not tell a surgeon how to perform a heart surgery or a fireman how to put out a fire. being a functioning citizen of society bares responsibility. if there were criteria meeting which was required in order to participate in the election process i would most certainly do my best and try to meet them. if i fail, well tough shit, but i will step aside and let those that know what they are doing and why, do it without my involvement. now, with that said the question will be how do you decide what are the measures for qualifications. i think that could be thought through in detail with enough effort. of course, none of that would be necessary if we had an education system that insured its graduates to be fit to function. ps don't forget that half the country chooses to be "second class non-voting citizens" on their own.

for the reasons(other than $) on this particular engagement i would recommend some casual reading titled "America's Secret War" by george freidman. the dude started Stratfor, private intelligence firm. you will not regret getting this book. -

unfortunately, the people who "get" it, are not those that deserve to "get" it. -
this reference is toward administration an is in fact very accurate. *** "I believe that a 2nd term inaugural is called for, but the scale, scope, access and excess of this particular one is inappropriate when you consider that we have men and women in the field dieing for the mistakes of the Administration."

considering that your location is outside dz with the regular earthlings I would restrain from names such as Assholes' Lounge or trying to have any reference to local fart champions. instead simple names like: The Prop Blast Off The Hill 69 ? might work. I do like Hector's - Jerry's Reserve

i do agree with the point of knowing an official language of the country you live in. when i first ran into people who spent last 20 years of their lives in brooklyn, never left it to go anywhere, and yet, managed to not know english at all, i was plain horrified. as far as voting, on top of language i would require a demonstration of general knowledge of the world and domestic issues/problems. maybe even throw an iq test in there. plato said a long time ago that the problem of democracy is that you let idiots to decide on your future. the overall feeling of that article though, is somehow not so much about language, but change. the refusal to adapt to an ever changing life by the author of the article is the same as the refusal of those immigrants to learn the language of their new home. the need to maintain personal identity in this cultural soup is manifested in many ways of which some are far from intelligent. I do believe that a country should be defined by something other then pegan symbols.

there is no point in trying to start liking bush. i knew of this guy who was a thief. once the owners of the house he was in came home. needless to say it was an awkward situation. the guy set them down in the kitchen, made tea for everybody and spent the next two hours talking about the evil effect on your soul and mind of material possessions. he left with as much as he could carry. he also thought that robbers (with guns) are no good good for nothing freeloaders. now, is he a good guy? just relax and prepair for four more years of getting ruthlessly porked

[quote We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and from a Tampa newspaper editorial... either way i like what this says dude, the nature of humans and thus of human culture is very fluid. us is not the only country that is changing constantly. the world is changing, dont be afraid... hitler published his ideas too

hey, lost time i was in moscow i was freaked out by the amount of people drinking everywhere. streets, parks, buses, elevators. i was hanging out infront of bolshoi, two girls maybe 13-14 came up and set down near by. pulled out 2(one each) 2litter bottles of Bochkarev (beer), finished that in 30 minutes, got up and walked away holding each other up. in the subway i had to explain to two guys drinking vodka out of the bottle, that i'm smiling cous' i'm happy and that i mean no disrespect by refusing to share that vodka with them. that place is wild. they just had a ten day long national holliday, imagine what that was like...

the lesson is clear, renew your licence and fire at will. my neighbor emptied his magazine into my other neighbor who desided that he needed something in the guys house. I think he even had his house cleaned for free. he had current licence.

The DZ clearly exists not to make money, but to provide a place for people to jump. There are 2 C182, and lift tickets are merely $15. Staff is very professional and fun. I would definitely recommend this DZ to anyone who wants to try jumping for the first time as well as experienced jumpers. If you live in midwest this place should be on your list of DZs visited regularly. (By the way, DZ is also the home of OPL team.)
