It's the way we used to launch h as well. I used to find it not too much of an issue but am not the smallest bloke. On faster run ins like caravan and kingair where I needed both hands on the bar I took the grip on the 'set' part of the key.

It's great to see some progress in this area, regardless of which nation it comes from. If humanity an crack Fusion it should end our reliance on fossil fuels (make fuel almost free). It's rather exciting to think that this is something we may see in our lifetime - I remember my old physics teacher claiming that we were about 50 years off from it back in 2003.. Lets hope he was a bit pessimistic :)

Personally I like the NHS on the whole but to be honest I've not really had an emergency situation or requiring more than a dose of antibiotics for a few years. However, I have private cover through work (for a small fee ~$30 / £20 a month) in case something goes wrong and I get broken that requires a long fix. In a lot of cases you hear of people getting worse whilst waiting for their turn. I could wait, and take longer to get fixed on NHS or get a referral to a private hospital / doc. I can afford the fee, and my time and health is worth that 1 jump ticket a month I pay. The NHS is great, especially for those who don't have the income that allows them to do this. For general GP issues which can wait a few days I'll go see my GP (NHS)

I can't comment on the Aussie progression but general bit of advice for 4way (or any dive) is visualisation. Use your time in the plane to work through how the dive is going to look, work out what moves you need to make to go between dives and think about how you'll do it. Nice deep calming breaths as the door opens / green light comes on and crack on.. and don't forget to smile if there's inside camera ;)

There is already a couple. Chris from hyrokken has made a nice one for his G2. It's basically the go pro flat mount with two button cutaways (like the 2k composite ones) on one cable that hold the mount in place. If he cuts away the mount goes, along with camera but the helmet stay in place and looks pretty sweet. The only slight issue is apparently it's not the most stable mount and wobbles a bit but not an issue for FS.

Bloody NIMBYs, I can't understand how the local authorities can then carry on to object on safety grounds when the FAA have cleared it. Nice work for the FAA for putting forward a sensible line and for Jeff Bodin to push his cause. Hope he wins and gets the DZ established :)

The vast majority of my jumps are 4 way FS and I find that I do rely quite heavily on my audible for breakoff (we all do).. I've got mine set to: 4500ft break off 3500ft time to think about pulling 2000ft - hard deck (/ get something open you dumb #@!* ;)) If doing formations where the organiser has suggested a different break off / pulling then I'll change the first two beeps.. I've heard the 3rd beep a couple of times after tracking a bit longer to clear airspace and a snivelly pilot opening.. Does get the heart pumping to hear it but a good reminder during a snivel (I have the L+B Solo II which only sets in increments of 500 ft)

If money were truly no object (i.e. a substantial lotto win) then I could see myself spending the next few years on a hardcore training plan with my 4way team. Doing in excess of 1,000 jumps and many many hours in the tunnel too. Now just need those lucky numbers to come up..

I've made that mistake.. banged my head of the door/wing and fell off the step... bit embarrassing as had 200 odd jumps at the time..

Happy with the idea of this one, just need to make sure that the water quality is constantly and randomly assessed to ensure that things like fecal matter (Pooooo!), pathogens and chemicals are all within some predefined 'safe' level.

Personally, not a fan of the idea. Whilst the possibility for a tail strike may not be 100% it's a lot higher - esp if you're in an aircraft which has a tail which is low and close (thinking C208B or PAC 750)

It's a pretty mixed sentiment here at work (all 20 something professionals). Some are bored of it and some love it. Personally, it's a nice to feel part of a historical event that will be remembered for hundreds of years (or at least share in the birth of someone who will be remembered through history). However, the coverage was OTT - very CNN / fox news with reporters sitting on site doing nothing but looking at a building..

I am a bit curious as to what ole Dave is trying to distract us from. Personally I think the proposal is badly thought out (well its not a proper proposal yet) and will be dropped. There seems to be a few veins to this to try and curb access to legal porn between consenting adults (gender irrelevant), but seems to blur the issue with protecting children from accessing material and the more heinous proposal of throwing images of child abuse into the equation too. If the government want to enforce a series of ISP filters in place to protect kids - then cool, as long as I don't have to pay more for it in my subscription and it comes off as default. The emphasis on opt in not opt out, because holding a list of people who've opted out of filters can be misused to profile individuals (does it matter if a person applying for a sensitive job looks at porn?) The real gripe is that it doesnt matter what the UK.gov do, the internet is too big, too distributed and encryption is cheap. If they ban all these things then you'll likely see a spike in services like Tor which open encrypted sessions for which the UK.gov can't decode so an ISP filter is therefore bypassed (blocking encrypted traffic would shaft a lot of banks, businesses and anyone who wants security on the web).

We had a lot of issues in March at Gatwick (LGW) when we tried to take two rigs as hand luggage (we had two in the hold already). The security guy had heard of AAD's but no one in security would be prepared to let us take them on the plane - the head of security explained that the cutter mechanism was (to them) a detonator - which they wouldn't let in the cabin. The same reasons they don't allow party poppers on the plane. In the end we had to put them in the hold, luckily the airline didn't charge us for this. (shout out to EasyJet on that one). In the end its down to who you get in security tbh.

Sabre 190 to Pilot 168 after about 120 jumps on the 190, then went Pilot 168 -> Pilot 150

Whilst team training I'd borrowed a Sabre2 and was jumping my kit (pilot) around the 1.3 loading. I found that the sabre2 was more inconsistent on opening and was more ground hungry than the pilot. We got out over the DZ on our own pass so it wasn't so much of an issue about bad spots. The flare was very strong and was a good canopy to fly. In comparison the pilots openings were more consistent, softer. The flight is glidey but did still dive quite quickly in the turns. The flare on a pilot is different to that of a sabre 2 and feels much like flying through the flare. Personally I prefer the Pilot over the Sabre2 for my everyday fun jumping / team training. On our next camp I'll be doing the same Pilot - Sabre2 combo.

Personally am not so much a fan of the fake ones.. they often look great until the underwear comes off then they just look wrong.. Don't feel right either.. Ladies, be happy with what you've got..
