  1. You should probably wake up a little earlier to get on some of those load. Especially if your profile is up to date and you only have 11 jumps in 7 years :) The best way to ruin a hobby is to try to make a living doing it. Just my humble opinion and experience as a Scuba Instructor. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  2. Read the dissenting opinion. http://images.bimedia.net/documents/DeLay+Dissenting+Opinion.pdf IMHO Quades post rings true (and I usually vote republican). For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  3. Didn't they stop production of the TR6 in 1976? Unless you want to spend lots of money keeping a 50 year old car barely running, stay away from it. The Miata is a great car. I drive my 10 year old daily, but take my Porsche to the track. The maintenance costs for an old Miata are reasonable, and the car runs well after you take the Gay-Pride stickers off of it from the previous owner. (Not that there is anything wrong with that). 4. I should let the lawyers respond to this, but that statement is not true. There is plenty of case law where it has been upheld that trespassers have the right to use lethal force to defend themselves when assaulted by the property owner (assuming all the criteria for self defense is met). For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  5. I wonder what the FAA means : My first static line jump was in 1978. My next jump wasn't until AFF in 2009. Does that mean I currently have 35 years experience, or 4 or 5? Do you have to have 1 jump a year to count that as a year? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  6. Not sure I agree with you. They admit to throwing rocks. Who brings rocks to a gunfight? If someone is shooting at me, and the two choices I have are to throw rocks or run (swim/canoe) away, I am outa there. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  7. Somebody please make this stop. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  8. There is no way out to avoid charging him with a crime (nor should there be). I don't think there is enough information given to determine if he should be fired. I am guessing he will eventually be charged/plea to some misdemeanor, and I don't know if that is cause for dismissal. I am not a LEO, but it seems sometimes cops do worse things and still don't lose their jobs. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

    Racism?

Silly me - I guess I am not a gazillionaire. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Interesting Editing on the article. I'm pretty sure that when she mentions throwing down the black card, she wasn't endorsing American Express. What editor added that in parenthesis and thought it was a good idea? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  11. I would vote douche-bag with a micro penis. Attached is a picture of his dog from his webpage. Had to make sure the custom plates on his Ferrari as well as his 'Shah-approved' blonde are in the picture. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  12. Does anybody else do this? I've been taught (and prefer) to keep my head down to avoid neck injuries due to slammers. Aren't slammers more likely than a PC in tow? I've had one bag lock, and noticed/felt immediately something was amiss in the deployment process without having to look. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  13. I am personally in favor of this. I am at a Dropzone where there are a lot of full time coaches, instructors who coach, packers who coach, riggers who coach, etc. I do not skydive for a living, so I can't compete with someone who has committed their lives to the sport, lives on or near the DZ, and probably needs the money to buy more ramen noodles. I do skydive a lot with sub-50 jumpers and coach them before/after every jump. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  14. Have you read anything in this thread? The whole concept is it should be a USPA issue if the organization is there to protect and serve skydivers. If they are there for the benefit of manufacturers, then they might not choose to make it their issue. If it is true that modern equipment does not pass the TCO standard, then USPA should be doing something about it because the organization is funded by the people using that equipment. 15. And as has been discussed in this thread, the definition of 'slave' has changed throughout the years. Today, some may consider conscripted service with the threat of imprisonment if you refuse to be a form of slavery. To others, it may just have been the 'greatest' generation getting drafted to defeat Hitler. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

  17. My only hint would be don't take advise (or candy) from strangers. Discuss this with your instructors. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  18. Boxers. I don't like my little skydiver flopping around all night like a newbie on a Cat D jump. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  19. wow - I am surprised you aren't successful at resolving issues given your method of personal attacks. Chill out. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  20. +1 There is really no mistaking a ball of crap above your head. It looks quite different than line twists. Good job executing the EP For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  21. Seems like a very stupid 'fix' to me, but I am not an investor in Boeing. Apparently, they think it is brilliant as the stock has gone up based on the concept they could implement this 'fix'. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  22. Dude - you just outed yourself. You cannot be an S&TA without a 'D' license, and that requirement cannot be waived. Someone as USPA has made a mistake and allowed you to be appointed S&TA incorrectly. I am not an S&TA, did not sleep at a Holiday Inn last night, but I can read the regulations and you do not qualify. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  23. I enjoy buying tickets for the Leap for Lupus lottery as it helps a noble cause. I am not sure what the noble cause was for the PD Factory lottery, so I didn't buy a ticket. Problem solved. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  24. Your plan is sound. Think back dive rather than back flip. It is much easier to increase your rate of rotation if it is too slow than decrease it if it is too fast. Continuing to watch the balloon after you exit will help slow down the rotation. If you totally mess up and barely rotate, you can do half a barrel roll to get to your belly.
