  1. I think it was just a marketing strategy - we used real navy SEALS to help us design this game. I agree they probably didn't disclose tactics that compromised anybody. IMHO, the government wants them to be silent warriors and not benefit financially by cooperating with Silicon Valley. That may tarnish the hard earned honor of Navy SEALS. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  2. It actually makes sense to me, as the rape victim may be afraid of trusting men. If you strap yourself to a guys crotch while in your underwear and he doesn't assault you, maybe not all men are rapists, and some can be trusted. It is a start. I'm not sure how I can spin it to overcome the fear of having an eating disorder, or someone close to you dying. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  3. According to the article: Given that there are only two women highlighted in the video, pick any of the three traumas. I suspect they both overcame eating disorders as they are both "Shah would do them" thin. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  4. Front page of Yahoo has an video called "Women Face Their Fears By Skydiving in Their Underwear". I guess skydiving in lingerie is something new to the general public. At least nobody is falling out of the tandem harness - so it is good publicity. http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/women-face-fears-skydiving-underwear-204328218--abc-news-topstories.html For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  5. +1 My pattern was way too big for skydiving. It took me a long while to get the correct site picture and accept I can't add power to fix a bad glide slope. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  6. At least you legalized recreational pot to help take the pain of bad weather away. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  7. You are probably right, and I apologize for nitpicking grammar on such a festive and joyful occasion. My comment that both women look beautiful still stands. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  8. Congratulations - you both look beautiful in the picture. On a grammar note, given that you have given birth to your daughter, you are the Matron of honor (unless she was immaculately conceived - which doesn't sound like much fun ) For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  9. Agreed. Ok, to make it a more ridiculous point, can I show my intolerance by not allowing card carrying members of North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) to be Boy Scout Leaders, even if they haven't committed a crime, but espouse pedophilia? The point I was trying to make is we are all intolerant and shouldn't throw stones. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  10. I agree completely with your posting. I guess the point I was trying to make is we are all intolerant of some forms of behavior people exhibit. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  11. What about pedophiles? Did God make them that way? Can I be bigoted against them and not allow convicted pedophiles to be Scout or Church Youth Group Leaders? Wouldn't that be denying them the same rights and privileges as white heterosexual people? Unless you are enlightened enough to support allowing convicted child sex offenders to run day care centers, you might not want to throw stones. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  12. Spoken like a person with a D license. An 'A' license or student should be more concerned with landing an unfamiliar canopy in a large open area with a level wing and not chasing crap around the sky. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  13. I don't know all the details, but that may change things a bit. The overwhelming number of tandem students do not become licensed skydivers, and the financial commitment is small. It is also much safer. For a couple hundred bucks you can scratch that itch , check the box in your bucket list, or whatever. Having said that, I went 29 years between my first and second jump. The sky will always be there. Your kids are only young once, and they are always more important than any fun you think you may be missing. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  14. I would argue that skydivers are nicer to other people than most other groups because it is in their best interest to do so. We rely on each other to look each other's gear over in a high risk environment. That certainly fosters trust and goodwill. I am more likely to take an interest in your well being if by doing so it creates a safer environment for me. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

    Sleep apnea

Don't know if you are a TI or not, but if you have sleep apnea you will not be able to get a third class FAA medical certificate without a waiver involving additional sleep/wake tests and certification from a doctor you are treating via a CPAP or a surgery like UPPP. Been there, done that, paid the price. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  16. To whom are you referring? Madison died 176 years, 3 months, 4 days ago (which I will admit is less than 200 years). For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  17. I liked that the dissenting opinion included the Madison Federalist papers quote: I guess you have to either be a minority on the supreme court to believe that or dead two hundred years. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  18. +1 I use Liquid Player Prescription Sunglasses as goggles. I also stopped using the foam insert for the same reason. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  19. I would also be considered an adrenaline junkie. My other hobbies used to be flying, skiing, and scuba diving. I did some fairly advanced deep wreck penetrations. Not even that compares to the possibility of serious or fatal injury if you don't completely have your shit together when skydiving. Skydivers with thousands of jumps and all the ratings are getting seriously injured and dying due to a single microsecond brain fart. That isn't to say you can't be a safe and occasional skydiver. You just have to make sure you don't even come close to pushing the limits. Stay at a 1:1 wing loading, pull at 4K, don't swoop and you would probably be ok just jumping occasionally. YMMV For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  20. I up for discussion of actuarial science, but I dont' think my kids will be too interested in it. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  21. +1 at my Dropzone also. It seems people who still smoke are almost embarassed by it. Everyone I see at my DZ sneaks far away to have a smoke. It isn't an issue here. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  22. I agree with this. I'm just not sure saying they are increasing my risk of dying by their second hand smoke in an outdoor environment. Hell - I'm a skydiver - I am taking much greater risks than standing near a smoker. Second hand smoke can be a health risk. Exposing children to a heavy smoker in an automobile or small room is unacceptable. Smoking outside in an area where they shouldn't is being a douchebag. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  23. Not much. The harm of second hand smoke is about as clearly identified as the cause of global warming. The EPA study was been rejected. To my knowledge, no study that has been accepted by a reputable independant source has indicated standing near to someone smoking outside has a measurable health risk. I could be wrong as I haven't read much on this. I don't smoke - so I don't have a dog in this fight. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  24. I don't think it completely works. Clara Blandwick (Auntie Em on Wizard of oz) doesn't come up with a Bacon number, but it is 3, same as Bert Lahr (cowerdly lion). For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  25. You have a good attitude for not wanting to assign blame and accepting responsibility for yourself. You will make a good skydiver Having said that, and reiterating what rehmwa said, if you are on AFF3 and you don't have a log book, then there is something seriously wrong with the way you are being trained. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
