some times it just takes a roast beef sub and a beer

I feel your pain. I have had my LG Dishwasher replaced twice and my LG Refrigerator replaced once. They severely scratched my hardwood floor replacing the fridge. LG is the Skyride of appliances. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set
DiverMike replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally I'd rather swing off of hitlers nuts instead of associating with anything Skyride or ASC. That's just me though. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow, even if tongue-in-cheek... wow. That's pretty pathetic, a couple million dollars vs. a few million lives and countless generations. Nice. You stay classy. How could that be anything other than tongue-in-cheek? It would be a physical impossibility to swing off Hitler's nuts for two reasons. 1. The Russian autopsy of Hitlers burnt remains in 1945 documented that Hitler's "left testicle could not be found either in the scrotum or on the spermatic cord inside the inguinal canal, or in the small pelvis. . . ." He sufferred from monorchidism so at the best you could only swing off of a single Hitler Nut. 2. Given the fact his body was severely burnt and autopsied in 1945, buried and reburied several times, the remaining nut probably wouldn't support the weight of an adult male to swing on. Relax. Smile and be happy. -

City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set

Gosh - I hope I don't have to stand in line to do that. Could you possible sell me a gift certificate that I could redeem for this activity? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -

Something doesn't sound right about this, but if you think being a pilot helps getting a medical certificate simply have him join Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (http://www.aopa.org/) for $39.00 They have an excellent department for helping people through the red tape of getting medical certification. You don't have to renew your membership after the 1st year and he can still get an AOPA bumper sticker that he can put on his car as a chick magnet. There is no secret pilot's handshake. Anyone can join. The pilots of the world aren't out to get you nor does the FAA necessarily treat them better. I know. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Welcome to the forums. The information here is plentiful and usually helpful. I too just got my 'A' at Start Skydiving in Lebanon and agree it is a great DZ with great instructors. The minute I got my 25th jump in, it got cold and gray here so I am in the same boat you are. Hope to see you on a load in the spring. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Electrical Wiring help? Any qualified electricians here?
DiverMike replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
You have to do what was mentioned in a previous post and put a switched outlet in, then plug those under counter lights into them making sure you don't bury any of the zip chord behind the drywall. I thought you might be able to put the zip chord in conduit (depending on your local building codes) but it appears you cannot. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -

Yep - I would delete that picture. If you cover that wire with drywall and that wire is not in conduit you have probably just violated code. Check with you local inspector or hurry up and put the drywall up so nobody see it. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
Electrical Wiring help? Any qualified electricians here?
DiverMike replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
That is exactly what I did in my kitchen with those exact same lights. I assume you got them at Lowes. I put 7 of them under counters in various places. The only thing I may not have done to electric code was run one of the wires behind a cabinet to get to the outlet box. As stated in previous postings, I don't believe this 'lamp cord' electric wire is rated to be buried in the walls. I believe technically it has to be completely exposed for the entire run. Did you hear what Elin said when asked how many times she hit Tiger? “Put me down for 5”. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I believe most Americans will let the military decide which battles to fight as long as it is an all volunteer military and it is not too costly in tax dollars or American lives. The grumblings we are hearing from Joe America is the cost of this 'war'. I don't believe a draft will be implemented unless or until a foreign country initiates a large invasion in the US mainland or some 3rd world country wages war against puppies and American Football. That is true. Miranda was eventually retried with his confession suppressed and was sentenced to 20 years. Don't get me wrong - I am not a nut who thinks coerced confessions are good for the country. I do, however, agree with Justice Byron White's dissenting opinion of the Miranda case: "In some unknown number of cases, the Court's rule will return a killer, a rapist or other criminal to the streets and to the environment which produced him, to repeat his crime whenever it pleases him. As a consequence, there will not be a gain, but a loss, in human dignity." For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I find it annoying when bleeding heart liberals complain about people not being read their miranda rights. I think most people have forgotten or never knew that these 'rights' were named after Ernesto Arturo Miranda, a confessed and convicted rapist, dishonorably discharged from the Army For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I work at a Glove company that sells $120 million dollars of gloves a year. I have access to every type, and the best winter gloves I have found for skydiving can be purchased at Tractor Supply. They are model 96650 and have a Hypora and thinsulate lining to keep wind out and your hands warm. As a joke to my coworkers, I made a product testing video of the gloves: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYc90SAEpt4 For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I like Skymama's advice better than mine. I guess it has the touchy-feely woman's touch. What I was trying to get across is there must be an improvement in communication between student and instructor. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

This isn't tiddly-winks you are learning how to do. If you are uncomfortable with any instructer, then indicate it to manifest. It isn't a popularity contest. It is a procedure to keep you alive to enjoy the sport. You need to be comfortable and focus on your training. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I have the greatest respect for those who put their lives at risk to protect my democracy, and I strongly believe they should be rewarded in any way possible for their service. OTOH,I am a civilian and will leave determinations of military awards up to the proper authority. The one person to determine if this event qualifies for the purple heart as an act of international terrorism is the Secretary of the Army John McHugh. That is clearly stated in Executive Order 12464. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

FAA Medical Certificate Copy Required with TI Renewal
DiverMike replied to skydived19006's topic in Tandem Skydiving
You are correct and let me demonstrate using a specific example. Say your dog dies and you crash your pickup truck. You go to you doctor and get a Lexapro prescription to handle your depression. You currently have a 3rd class certificate. If you attempted to get a 3rd class certificate while on Lexapro, the FAA would not issue it to you. They do not cancel or make 'non current' a 3rd class medical certificate you already have if you start taking Lexapro. The only way you lose a 3rd class med certificate is if it expires or if it discovered that you lied or misrepresented information on the original application. The way the FAA keeps pilots from flying while on happy pills is covered via section 61.53 Prohibition on operations during medical deficiency as stated the earlier posting. The language that is missing in the requlations that USPA would probably like to see inserted is, " . . . shall not act as a pilot in command, parachutist in command, or any other capacity . . ." A "parachutist in command" is currently classified by the FAA as "airman other than flight crewmembers" and as such is not subject to the language in section 61.53. The current 'loophole' allows you to act as a parachutist in command as long as your 3rd class hasn't expired or been yanked for lying. I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV.
