JFTC Photos and WMV up at web site!
katecooper replied to quade's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Funny you should mention that. We are in the final stages of finalizing the dates for JFTC '09. I guess this posting can serve as the informal announcement of the event: The goals for JFTC '09? To run the record and all accompanying and warm up events with 100% safety To raise money and awareness for breast cancer research via City of Hope To raise awareness of women athletes in skydiving, and skydiving as a sport world wide and... (last but not least) To set a new Women's World Record in FS Tentative dates are 21-27 September 2009. Tentative size 175 way. We are working on aircraft now. This will very likely be the last Jump for the Cause so do not miss it! We will be having try out events all over the world in the next 1 1/2 years. Ladies--get ready and get current...! We're putting the band back together! blue skies, pink suits kate -
Hi gals we still have a few slots available for women on the Fusion 100 way (50 men 50 women) to be held in Perris this January. Please contact me directly katejumps at earthlink dot net for further information thanks! Hope to see you there... kate

Digital photo frame preloaded with a ton of pictures of you and your family (if applicable) doing cool and fun things. Skydiving and sports but also face shots and smiles. We did that for gifts last year for our parents and it was a great hit. The tech savvy parental unit immediately put her own photos on and we regularly change out pictures on the non-tech savvy parent units. We got good frames from Amazon (Phillips).

Hi Gary (and any other interested and qualified persons) Fusion 50/50 will be 17-20 January in Perris, CA and, as Bill says, the concept is 50 women and 50 men (so guys--you had better hustle for slots!). The event is being organized by Paula Philbrook and the P3 team of Dan BC, Larry Henderson, Tony Domenico and Kate Cooper-Jensen. Contact Paula directly to apply--she is handling registration, Her email is Paula L. Philbrook and I have attached the registration form. Hope to see you all there! blue skies kate

Greetings Does anyone have first hand experience on applying for a green card for a foreign born spouse of a US citizen while both parties are legally residing outside the US? Yes--the appropriate US government pages have been read and forms downloaded. Yes, there is a US embassy nearby. Just looking for first hand experience and friendly tips on avoiding potential pitfalls. Would prefer to continue discussion via email or PM. thanks

Kate Cooper D-7333 USPA 8944 I support this petition. Large DZ, Small DZ. It is EVERYONE's responsibility to enforce safety in the landing pattern. This proposal will lay the ground work for allowing this to happen. Things are changing. This is NOT anti-Swooper or Big-way or Accuracy. It is PRO-safety. In a few years people will (hopefully) wonder why patterns were routinely mixed in a haphazard manner as they safely perform the manuevers they wish to in the correct landing areas. Hopefully. blue skies and PEACE kate

Outstanding! That is WONDERFUL news. I am SO PROUD of the Brit Chicks! Woohoo! Pretty in Red! kate

How many jumps before your SCR?
katecooper replied to steveorino's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Dear god I think I was on that jump. (or one just like it). That was the first time I was "grounded for life"...but I digress.... kate -

BSR proposal for canopy patterns
katecooper replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi--kate here sounding in per Bill's request: Jumping since 1978, 8000 + jumps SL instructor--not current Pro Rating--current Bigway world records, 12 in FS, 1 in FF Current discipline is RW; training for 8-way and currently conducting events and coaching seminars worldwide. Have medaled in FS at the local, regional and national levels. Last jump was Saturday (Denmark), I've made 150 jumps this year. I've remained current--by anyone's standards--since I started jumping. Current canopies include a Katana 107, a Pilot 104, a Crossfire2 109, a Sabre2 107 and a Sabre2 120 (yes, I jump them all, and no, it does NOT suck to be me) Most of my landings are straight in--sometimes, if space allows, I will do a 90 degree riser turn I am actively coaching and training jumpers to do large formation FS at all levels. Adherence to strict canopy patterns is VERY important to me. I believe in these changes. I am tired of losing friends. I want US to save this sport before others step in to "help" us save it. I'm off to the US tomorrow, will be off line for a while. I'll be at Perris from 1-14 May and available for comments or conversations. So that others may live.... blue skies kate -
We couldn't have done it without you Tom. THANK YOU!! him, him..... bsbd kate

OUTSTANDING yeah, that's the word. OUTSTANDING Skydive Spaceland put on a CLASS act--from pilots flying the tightest formations ever, to mandatory (and controlled) spread out landing areas, to a great group of volunteers, to an outstanding video team (and de-brief set up unlike any I have ever experienxced--and far superior), to a ROCK star "A" team led by Scott, to superior coordination from Tom, Jack, Jim and Steven, to the best group of jumpers assembled in this size range I have experienced. Whew--that's a run on sentence but the event deserves it! I have no doubt that the sequential would have been probably had the weather gods smiled on us on Sunday. Best quote? "What color is the streamer". Best deployment? Jack. Pulling silver. In a 150 way. As the first pull out. Unforgettable visual. Best usage of freeflyers in a 150 way? Trent Alkek wearing 17 pounds of lead and taped up booties going in the front 30 (and being a rock star there). Best race to the base: Jay Henry and Jack Berke. Not that they were racing. Of course not. That wouldn't be allowed. But it was cool. 2nd best quote? Larry-- "I've got good news--I went 8 feet low on approach to the formation and didn't see anyone else low, so I got up and docked". Best one toggle landing? Whitey--for surviving (and continuing to jump) after a toggle came off mid flare. Best usage of powered scooters? Jen Jones 3rd best quote: Jack Berke--after seeing Larry go low and get up "If you had a lump of coal in your butt it would have come out a diamond". Best 150 way team around--the TSR TEAM!!! Thanks for letting me play with y'all. I look forward to returning and getting that second point next year on, shall we say, a 175 way? And as for Jeanie Henry's 30 way? I have one comment on the exiting procedure, timing and subsequent landing area. My back was to the lights in the CASA. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Oh, and we meant to land there. Yeah, that's it. It was clear there.... blue skies kate

We have increased the maximum number of applicants for this camp from 80 to 100. If you wish to learn big way technique--from basic to advanced levels, then come join and learn from the people who organize the records. Join Dan BC, Kate Cooper, Larry Henderson and Tony Domenico. Jet Jumps, Tunnel Time, Fun jumps, great people. There is also a invitational 100 way event FOLLOWING this Big Way Camp 13-16 May. Qualified personnel are invited to submit resumes/CV's for review. Preference will be given to those who attend both events or who have attended such events in the past. See cover of Parachutist and accompanying articles last year for picture from the "camp" last time around. We've had a LOT of people go through these camps. Many are now World Record Holders. Join the P3 team and learn why many of our attendees return year after year. blue skies, big (safe) blots kate

Kirk COME PLAY WITH US! We have an outside late diving whacker slot open with your name on it. It actually USED to have either KKeenan's or Kallend's or Merkur's name's on it -- whichever one you want you can have! hugs and kisses from Denmark kate

ThaiSkyFestival - someone allready there and online?
katecooper replied to Merkur's topic in Events & Places to Jump
eager boy---it hasn't started yet. BJ and Bobbie are in BKK already. Larry just sent me an email from Japan (en route from Texas). Pal, Sven and a host more leave today. I leave tomorrow. Less than 30 hours and counting until I have a beer and foot massage in THE LAND OF SMILES! We are in BKK for a few days before moving the whole dog and pony show south to Prachuap where our C-130 waits for us. See you soon kate -
BIG WAY CAMP, 3-6 May 2007 Skydive Perris
katecooper replied to katecooper's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hi all I'm bumping this because I'm getting a ton of emails asking if this camp is full. Well--the answer is we are looking at adding another coach--Doug Forth--and can accept 100-120 people total for this camp so there ARE more slots available. We are also accepting resumes for the 100 ways taking place at Perris the week following, 10-13 May. Preference will be given to qualified individuals who participate in BOTH events or who have had attended our Big Way Camps in the past (with coach recommendation) Please let us know if you have any questions. Larry and I will be in Thailand starting this weekend jumping at the Thai Sky Festival (no, it does NOT suck to be us) but will have email access--albeit a bit limited at times--so be patient on the response time. Come to Perris and join Dan BC, Tony, Larry, Kate and Doug for the biggest and best Big Way Camp ever! Many DZ.Commers have attended these camps, and many have moved onto bigger and better things afterwards. Join us and see what the fun is about. blue skies, big blots kate -
aw man. That sucks. Big hugs to Shawna and the rest of the family. Brett and Shawna used to be regulars down at Perris. Sad day indeed bsbd kate
