The autocom uses a 5 pin din (remember those??) to connect as there is a also a mike as well as stereo speakers. The photo above was half on an autocom set that I split and wired up to 3.5mm stereo jacks. Although it is a stereo jack both channels are connected to the one wire. I seem to recall (when I looked at it) that the earth is carried by the sleeve so if you use a mono plug you will connect the earth to the left or right channel positive. Does that sound about right?? Jump more, post less.

I used to use an inner ear headphone but then made up a little speaker form a motorcycle intercom and it just velcros inside my helmet. The speaker is very slim (the plug is thicker than the speaker) and it is easily audible even in an open face helmet as long as it is next to my ear. I got the speaker from the same manufacturer as my motorcycle intercom (Autocom) and it is plenty loud. On the bike even with earplugs in I can hear the g/f on the back of the bike at over 155 mph (we have no speed limits here) Co-incidentally I also have a Rawa helmet :) Perhaps not all motorcycle intercom speakers are as good and I was just lucky to have a slim, loud speaker spare. Replace one of your audibles with an Neptune N3Audio. It can tell you your altitude (or you could just use it as a standard audible) and plug the flysite output into the external audio port so you can hear that too. Then just put a motorcycle speaker the same side as the N3A - they velcro on so the audible goes in the pocket and the speaker next to your ear. I'm just waiting for my N3A to do exactly that :) Jump more, post less.

I like the 'keep it but leave a number' I found £50 about a year ago, handed it into the nearest police station, it wasn't collected and I got it. I lost some money when I couldn't afford to lose some money and it wasn't handed in so these days I picture me in that situation. Jump more, post less.

If you like the P2 you'll love a P3 - I 'upgraded' to a P3 this year and I'm flying it more than my ghost. For me there was a big performance increase between the P2 and P3. Jump more, post less.

What is the 'vent' seen at 51-55 seconds in this video?

Had a quick look on the Tonysuit site and found a picture - it's an air inlet. http://www.tonywingsuits.com/images/28.jpg Jump more, post less. -
I had mine mounted on the side of my camera and it didn't get a fix anywhere near as quickly so I moved it back onto the back of my camera Since then I've found out that there is a data item in the csv file called numsv that relates to how many satellites it can 'see' so you could try it. Gaffer tape it to the back of your helmet, try it out and then gaffer tape it to the side and try it out. I seem to recall a thread about this - I've just done a quick search and here it is. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4122792#4122792 Jump more, post less.

There was a post on UKS last week saying that UKSJames was moving house and had limited web access. I've posted a thread in Site Issues with a link to this thread here so hopefully they will see it. http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk/cms/index.php?/topic/21420-post-on-dz-about-new-a-new-account/ Jump more, post less.

Sorry guys - I'm on endomondo. I might switch over at the end of the year as I keep my totals on endomondo for easy reference. Here is a link though http://www.endomondo.com/profile/1994513 Jump more, post less.

s/s is an on-one inbred mtb with all the necessary drink related bling :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/39313642@N06/4541322611/ Close up of the chain tugs.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/39313642@N06/4595615774/ Being tempted by a roadie s/s atm though as I have 1 1/4" headset spacer bottle opener I could do with using. I had to think about it but there are at least four climbs near me that equal to that gradient or are steeper than it. Three are off road and the other is (barely) tarmaced Ballacob Slewellyn Surby Post Office Hill, Glen May (tarmac) I've done them all on my geared bikes but I've only done two of them on my singlespeed (32*16). Thinking about it I should be able to do Post Office hill on my s/s. Ballcob isn't going to happen on my s/s though in any way shape or form ! The joy of living on an island - steep hills !! I didn't have my ZP P2 and Parapack P3 side by side on the scales but I'd hazard at guess at about a pound difference. In the UK depending on the carrier you can be quite tight on weight limits on hand baggage - I tend to carry my suits (P3&Ghost), camera/helmet, log book, laptop, and a few clothes in my carry on so to me it's a factor to consider. Mind you next time I have to get three suits in my carry on... Or an intrudair suit !! not felt the weight of an alien but the intrudairs are pretty heavy ! Jump more, post less.

I've got a P3 in parapack after having a P2 in ZP (my Ghost is also Parapack). As DSE said the parapack is significantly warmer than the ZP - if you are jumping at cooler DZ (like the UK) then that extra bit of insulation is a very good thing ! However it is also heavier which may make a difference if you are trying to keep the weight down when you are flying on a scheduled flight. I tend to put my suits in my hand baggage and hope they don't weigh it.. Jump more, post less.

I get cats from the rescue shelter - they are invariably older as everyone loves the kittens but the older cats need as much love so unfortunately I've had to have a few put down. The first rescue was Jaffa cat who I had for 18 months - to this day I'm still not sure if I kept him around longer than I should have done but if so it was only maybe a day :( Jay cat died after an op so he doesn't count. Jack and Sadie lasted 4 and 5 years respectively. Jack was about 14 years old when he went, he'd been getting thinner for a few months, seemed happy enough, lively and his normal self but the vet couldn't find what it was. I had him at the vet one morning for a check up, took him home expecting him to be ok and by the time I got in from work he had to be rushed back to the vet, they kept him in overnight and the next morning we put him down. He went so fast. Sadie died at home in her sleep but Tommy cat got weaker and weaker, then went blind and eventually his quality of life had deteriorated so much that it was only fair to him. You will just know when it's time. My girlfriend persuaded me to rescue two kittens from a vet last year so here we go again !! Jump more, post less.

Because it's important to reduce cheating where possible. There are some folks out there that will do everything they can to cheat the system. Just because they can, doesn't mean that competitions should give up on quelling it where possible. Next comp, we have a much better way to deal with it, I think. You'll also be allowed to use your own FS. I took WWS's post to mean why don't they split the results into competition (validated) rankings and non-competition (un-validated) rankings. I've just got a phantom 3 (to replace my phantom 2 which replaced my phantom) and it is an awesome suit. First jump on the P3 and I peaked out at a 2.2 glide rate which given the fact that right now I'm about 2 stone heavier than I want to be is pretty good. That jump was also in my top ten lowest average fall rates and as it took me about a third of the flight to work out how it wanted to be flown it's just awesome to think how much more performance is in the suit. I have a ghost 3 as well but I think I'll be putting that to one side for a little while and having a lot of fun with my P3. You get a lot of bang for your buck with the P3. And if you want another reason this vid is from my second jump on the Ghost 3 (at 90+ w/s jumps) Just one small mistake that I'd have got away with on the phantom and look what happens.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLqvCNkssFU Jump more, post less.

I've just read your data into paralog. If you double click on the jump profile you can see where the canopy ride starts by the change in the rate of descent in the altitude (the red line) At 102 seconds your fall rate peaks at 78mph so this is probably where you are opening - where the fall rate (dark blue line) crosses the altitude line (red line) at 105.3 seconds is probably where you are open. Click on the altitude (red line) there then right click and from the "set here" menu that is displayed click on "open" (see attached screenshot) This will update paralog with the correct freefall time. Does that make sense ?? Jump more, post less.
