  1. Had the same problem - blisters all over the place. Huge suckers, one on top of another (literally), some filled with blood. Then again, I went through a total of 2 pairs of running shoes while in Corps. Best idea - go to a local running store and have them recommend a pair specific for your gait. I did that - never had a problem with blisters since. Running sucks, no way around it. MP3 player helps on solo runs, but in formation you are SOL. 2 kopeks from a nasty civilian
  2. In that case - your leadership are in DEEP shit right now. And the beauty of military (most of the time) - they can't blame things like this on the juniors (because it is reflection of their blah blah blah... you know, the cool-aid they serve in boot) Rank-permitting, pull a "PFC-don't-know". But if not - sorry dude, you are in for some long hours and working weekends. Just the way system works.
  3. Manuals are your friend. Last time I checked, the Corps even had one on how to wipe your ass. Dig em out and start reading. Just curious, was this an IG inspection or an audit team within MOS? For some MOS's, if you fail later - Staff and up are replaced by new leadership.
  4. +1 OP Dude, if you do - put me as a reference, I need them recruiting points...
  5. I caught it couple years ago - wasn't really that bad (except for high fever, weakness and coughing blood). Took me about a week to recover. Get well.
  6. We want to make sure that OP knows that his options are open (And not just GET A MAC BECAUSE I USE MAC AND IT IS GREAT) when it comes to choosing a new computer - be it PC, Mac, whatever flavor of Linux or some crazy shit nobody has even heard of yet.
  7. Advanced hardware configuration: Example - RAID/SLI. I don't believe SLI is even an option on macs. RAID is an option on Mac Pro but there is only 1 RAID card to choose from and system will run you at least 3g's. Our definition of gaming must be different. Yes, you can play games on pretty much anything these days. When I say gaming I mean ability to play latest and greatest in its full glory. Try playing new games (if they are available) at high settings on mac and you will get a slide show. Not saying gaming is not possible on macs . I am saying that it is at least 1 yr behind the PC and you will have to pay some major $$$ to get a "gaming mac". Not a good argument for system claiming it can do "pretty much anything"(tm) that PC can. Mac is good at doing basic things and it does them well. It provides a stress free user experience. But if you want to go beyond basic - look elsewhere.
  8. Could not resist... Was really hoping this thread would not turn into mac vs PC debate but since it did might as well jump in: Would you like me to provide you with examples where exactly the same (or better) equipped PC costs much less than mac? Better yet, are you able to pick any component you like for that mac or only able to choose from a list that Apple seems fit for you to use? If OSX is so great and solves all worlds problems, why would anyone use Windows on mac? *** "Pretty much anything"(tm) does not include gaming, customization, advanced hardware configurations, free service packs... Apple is good at what it does - it provides easy to use no stress user experience. Mac is reliable, it is trendy and it does a lot of things "out of the box" but such model does have its downfalls - limited hardware support, not a lot of software is written for mac (compared to PC) and it costs more. Some people are OK with that, some are not. But just because mac works for you does not mean it will work for everybody else.
  9. Hmmm... Ok, I'll bite. What are some of those advantages?
  10. If you need a home computer that will "just work" (tm) and you are willing to pay premium for it - go mac. But with macs you get what apple decides to give you - that means upgrade options are pretty limited but eh. If you don't want to buy into the whole mac lifestyle - any average priced, brand name PC will do. HP is not too bad. Thing is that with all these tech advances you no longer need much (relatively speaking) to do everyday stuff. Hell, even an average PC is an overkill for daily tasks (unless gaming). So options are unlimited. If there is Fry's Electronics around you - pay them a visit. Sales geeks over there actually know wtf they are talking about and will be able to suggest a decent system. My 2 kopeks.
