    Upsizing

David, A 170 will fit in your d-bag. It will probably be tight, but it will fit. It will make you pack better!
  2. Oh, and also the "I have X amount of jumps and you don't, therefore you don't know how to skydive, pilot a canopy, or land." I forgot about that one. If this forum is about safety and "training" some people, not all, really need to take a deep look at their teaching methods! Read a sports psychology book or something, please.
  3. "My gut feeling is that it is an isolated manifestation of the culture on this board" The elitist, ego culture!
  4. Oh yea, you are in trouble. A fine selection of cured meats, onions, garlic, and tequilla will be consumed before our next encounter! Lets see, that would be Monterey, right? Oh yea, as a reminder, they do go ALL the way to 15,000 AGL. As an added bonus, feel free to come spend Friday night in our spare room!
  5. I am now going to fart as much as humanly possible on the ride to altitude. If you know me, you know what you are in for!
  6. A few things that may be slowing her down, at least in this picture. 1-Her head is looking down catching air (not too big a deal once you learn to fly your torso). 2-Slightly leaning forward and compensating by putting her arms back (probably because she is looking down). 3-Her legs are in a slow position (all 90's). Pushing the legs down to a 45 degree angle will speed things up. This will also help straighten her back. All in all, she looks great for her jump numbers. These are picky comments, but changing it now before muscle memory is built will really help in the future. Good job on the sit! Ronnie
  7. Yea, the 72 degree weather with clear blue skies, all with an ocean view, sure did suck this Saturday. I just hate skydiving in those conditions.
  8. Do you carry health, life, auto, fire, or home insurances? Isn't a helmet a gadget? How are you throwing in the towel if you buy one? Will you lose a macho status? I don't get it. Why not have one? Seems like cheap life insurance to me! At this point, it is not about you, it is about your kids. Ronnie

    Gas Prices.

1.87 for the cheap stuff here on the central coast of California.
  10. Hey Ronnie, what do you study? Psychology. My internship ends July 25th and my dissertation defense is scheduled for June 18th. I can't wait to have my weekends back!
  11. Dissertation work. I will be lucky if I get to see the sun, but it is almost done!
  12. Haven't we all heard "I never knew she was so depressed, she seemed so happy, full of life, I would have never thought she would do something like that." When in fact, deep down, the person is in so much pain, life is unbearable. Hasn't a mother said that about a son, sister about sibling, or friend about a friend? Sometimes if one looks deeper, all the signs are there. I am not implying that she did or did not kill herself, it was just a thought that I was pondering and wanted to share. Maybe that is because I am in the field of mental health and my brain thinks that way? Sorry if I upset you or caused you more pain. I know death is a hard thing to deal with, expecially death by suicide because so much guilt is associated with it. Again, it was just a thought. And to those who responded to Zenister, don't blast him (her?), he was just expressing himself from an emotional place. I took no offense, so I hope others don't too. Ronnie
  13. Not to get people in a frenzy, but could it be suicide?
  14. Don't loosen the leg straps until you are in the water. If you loosen them prior to the water, you will sink and not be able to flare as good. You want to land just like you would on regular ground, nice and soft. Once in the water, lossen the leg straps and swim out.
  15. cs?cpc? Does it have a reserve? Then it may be worth $3300.

    Pissed

My Blue Shield PPO plan in California is 72.00 a month. Yours will probably be cheaper. Shop around and go get insurance!
  17. Hello, I was just wondering what others thought about this subject. While I know factors such as coaching, experience, and natural talent cannot be fed into a number equation, what are your thoughts about the progression of wing loading and jump numbers? Let's assume the canopy will not progress in peformance past a Stiletto (which is a fairly high performance canopy in of itself). Does this make sense? An example might be: 100-1:1 200-1.2:1 etc., etc.,
  18. I have had my Hurricane for about a year now and love it. My interaction with the skysystems staff was professional and helpful. The staff answered all of my questions and gave me great advise. They shipped my helmet a few weeks after purchase. The tightening system works well and gives you a snug fit. So well in fact, that I don't have to have my chin strap sucked up into my throat. It is just tight enough to prevent it from being knocked off in a collision. The tightening system seems to keep it snug enough to prevent any movement in freefall. Once this thing gets broken in, it is very comfortable. As for cons, I would like to see it available in four sizes rather than two. Also, getting to the ear ports to install a dytter is quite a task. If these changes were made, it would be a five star helmet.
