    Oh, but it does! Google "D4DR" and you will see. Read the article I wrote in the OP, above, click on some of the links I provided at the end of it. When I was told that there was a genetic connection to thrill seeking I thought the psychologist who told me was joking. She wasn't. For what it's worth, DZ.com used to be owned by a company called "D4DR Media". Or something like that. You are right, when I was thinking genetics, for whatever reason I only thought about inheriting genes from my parents. They are completely different then I am. As a matter of fact, I am the only person in my current family tree that probably has the D4DR gene.

    There was a show on the Discovery Channel about all different types of extreme sports. They were trying to show that people who choose to participate in extreme sports have a very high arousal level, which means it takes more excitement to get their blood flowing. People with low arousal levels don't need much to get going, reading a novel is a good example . The experts also mentioned that a high arousal level is why some people fall into crime in bad areas. They don't have any other outlet other then crime to participate in. I don't think it has anything to do with genetics. I start taking classes for my two majors next semester, philosophy & psychology. I'll try to relate what I learn to skydiving.

    I started putting up Christmas lights today and had the radio on. Out of nowhere I heard an ad for Skydive Spaceland inviting people out to do their first tandem jump. Apparently they are taking marketing into their own hands, and rightfully so. Skydiving is a business and it is up to them to make a profit and get people jumping. Right?

    From the perspective of someone who is just getting into the sport: I was shocked at how serious of an operation Skydive Spaceland really is. They have three Twin Otters and a Cessna. They were very professional and I felt very confident doing my first tandem jump. The Twin Otter would land, load up full, and take off as fast as it could. I got the impression that skydiving has a strong following. Skydiving is expensive, but a high quality set of golf clubs will run you $5,000, plus $75+ for a round at a decent club. But hey, some people get their kicks by hitting a little white ball, the rest of us jump out of planes. Someone said that most skydivers are low to middle class. I read in Parachuting: The Skydiver's Handbook that 40% of skydivers have a college degree and 20% have a graduate degree.

    Hello everyone! I just made my first tandem jump on my 22nd birthday this past Saturday at Skydive Spaceland. The fact that it was my birthday was just a coincidence. I got the idea to try skydiving a couple weeks ago. It just popped in my head one day, so I decided to give it a try. I don't have to tell you guys how incredible it was! The first 10 seconds were about 100 times more intense then I ever could have imagined! I was surprisingly not nervous at all. My instructor has almost 9000 jumps, so that may have had something to do with it. I plan to go back this Saturday for my second jump. I think I will go for my 'A' License early next year. I have to come up with $2,000 first!
