What is the best part of Wing Suit Flying?
blair700 replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
You said it man FLYING!!!!! -
First WS jump was on my GTI, at just over the 500 mark. Had FFI from SM1, but made my maiden flights as solos at my home DZ because the weather hosed us after the course. I was fairly current when I began, but would have preferred an in-flight instructor along for those first few. Had 20 or so before I was able to flock with anyone, and THAT is the bombdiggity yo. PD's new aggresive selling policy!
blair700 replied to garywainwright's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I 'heard' last weekend that PD was no longer going to produce the Vengence. Anyone care to comment on this 'rumor'?? Don't know if this would have anything to do with what your friend experienced. Blair -
Congrats Dexter! Nice pic, was wondering if you used a tailgate on that jump?? Any thoughts on having the slider down versus off for those particular jumps?? If you did use reefing on the lines, how was the heading on opening?? Thanks Blair

We just received an email from Judy Guyer, Jim's wife, and I wanted to share the following excerpts with you all here. I was not in Moab, just wanted to share the good news from his home state, and give many thanks to all the folks who were there. Take care Blair "He has had all of the needed surgeries and the prognosis is very good." "I have received the messages that have been sent and have relayed your good wishes to Jim. Today he nodded his head so I know he has heard." "Jim's fellow jumpers attended to him so quickly and so well they they have helped tremendously in the good results Jim is experiencing now. My heartfelt thanks to all of you for your caring concern."

Hey Justin, You could always ask the folks at BR and at CR and then maybe compare the pack volumes. Later Blair

I always wear a helmet, I think I can count on one hand the jumps I haven't. I'm not as concerned about freefall collisions, especially on solos, but I wear it for the landings. I love to swoop, and I also like to land off, so the 'you never know' factor is enough for me. But then again, if you ask around, I'm probably a big pu$$y anyway Loooong delays and soft landings, Blair

Been good bro, how about you?? Still waiting on my new gear, should be here by Christmas though, had BIG plans this weekend but the weather is supposed to be real shitty, guess I'll use the time to scope some new sites How's it going on your side? Blair

Yea I saw that show last night, Congrats for getting on the tube. Did anyone hear that pooster say something like..."jumping from planes is great, but you can only do it once in awhile, but motocross you can ride all day...." Just thought that was funny, I love riding dirt bikes, but obviously THAT guy don't know chit about skydiving. I wrote his name down at home, was going to look up his site and harass him, anyone wanna join, I think it was Club moto or something. Later Blair BTW, my favorite part was the triple gainer on the mountain bike off the large rock in Norway Nice piece on skysurfing too.....

Any updates on Jim's condition?? Is he out of surgery and 'awake' yet??? Thanks Blair

Yo! My slider has 2 kill lines on it and I just take the slider down behind my head, roll it forward a few times in my hands, and flip the kill lines out under the last roll, I have no problems with it staying down and behind me now. Your mileage may vary. Later Blair

In case you haven't heard, there is a new website out there for all us bird folks to use as a resource. Its at http://flybirdman.com/ and is operated by our own DZ.commer Kevin922. There is a wealth of GREAT information there for anyone interested in wingsuit flight, and for those of you who don't know Kevin, he has over 200 wingsuit flights, and is the original owner of the COOLEST S3 out there Just wanted to let y'all know, its all about learning more, and Kevin is definitely trying to help the sport grow. I think this is the patch Joy is speaking of.....I was given one by BASE 301 right after I qualified for my #. Its well worth the $15 This photo was taken and submitted by BASE 704, and now he proudly displays it on his Birdman GTI. A piece of history indeed.............. C-ya Blair

Terrible news indeed, Team BANDIT is praying for you man, like Tony said, the toughest old geezer I've ever met. I've shared some of my best memories with him...........I'm very sad to hear this. Please keep us posted, Blair

It looks like the Bohn crusader shirt has hard shells on the elbows, back, shoulders, forearms... I have Dainese saftey pants, but have been unable to locate the saftey jacket, the motox site doesn't list them, can anyone tell me where to find the saftey jacket??? Thanks Blair

I have one PC w/o load tapes I regularly jump, its a 32" ZP external handled made by Vertigo. Of course this is my terminal PC, so in general, I'm not as concerned about off headings as on the lower stuff. Every other PC I jump has load tapes on it, however a poster on here, BASE704, I know has alot of experience with a 46" with no load tapes so maybe he'll share some of his thoughts. I also prefer spokes and AV, just haven't gotten the full arsenal up to speed yet, so currently only jump one AV PC, a 46". C-ya Blair
