HA!! My V-1 came today too.... (cameras already packed up tho) Unfortunately, I'm gonna leave it at home and just take my GTI and PF track suit to the BIG WALL this week.....it would simply be TOO tempting to pack it with me, but DAMN I sure look forward to that first bite..uummmm I mean flight. Yo! I just submitted the following review of my first few skydives on the PF pants and jacket. I know this is the BASE forum, and I don't have enough BASE jumps on the suit to comment on that, but I thought fellow BASErs would be interested. Plus I'll add the BASE thoughts once I return from the Big Wall in Mexico Tom, please remove this if it is not in the appropriate forum...Thanks

I was able to make several skydives on my new Phoenix-Fly Pants and Jacket last weekend. I have BASE jumped the suit, but only once so my views here are strictly from the experiences I had skydiving. The first thing I noticed once out of the plane was the slower fall rate and increased forward speed. It felt almost like flying a wingsuit, I was able to stay in freefall for more than 80 seconds on the first jump from 13000¡¦ and averaged a fall rate of 80 MPH. I then did a couple jumps from 6000¡¦ where I was able to get 40+second delays. Again, the extra freefall time is nice, but the increased forward speed is what I was most impressed with. The body position seems similar to how I fly my GTI, however I had a whole different set of sore muscles to deal with this week! Also, I am 6ft3" and weigh about 200lbs. and am physically, aerodynamically challenged... I did notice that if you don't present the pants quite right to the relative wind, some lift is lost, however this is momentary as once you find the right body position for your entire body, you can feel the suit fly. At deployment, again, openings felt like wingsuit deployments, very sub-terminal, but of course as soon as you deploy you are ready to fly your canopy as there is nothing to be unzipped etc. As with the other products Robert Pecnik makes, the research, design, and finish of the products is second to none. I would recommend this product to any skydiver who wants to fly, and any BASE jumper who wants yet another perfect tool for site specific jumps. Lucky for me I'm both. Thanks Blair700

I'd get in touch with Basehoundsam, as he told me he'd had a friend on a trip who needed it...he'll be able to give you more feedback, perhaps you can PM him, although I know he's real busy for the next month.... Later Blair

Flapping bridle is more apt to pluck the pin(s) loose than it is to shear off an entire velcro shrivel flap..... I think..... Make centz? Later Blair

http://www.specialtyrisk.com Yo! Basehoundsam turned me onto this company, got insured for a BASE trip to Mexico, includes 'hazardous sports' coverage, specifically parachuting.....Not sure about getting coverage in my homeland, doubtful as most sites are not of the leagal type.... If you need more info, the website is very helpful, or PM me. Later Blair

I placed the tape just below the attachment points of the in-board C lines, and included those as well as in-board D's and all steering lines...so the tape actually sets between the tailgate fingertrap, and the line attachment on the C's....? Thanks everyone for the input. Blair PS you can just barely see the white tabs for the C's in the pic, the center cell of the canopy is silver

Was wondering if anyone could share their experiences using masking tape to help control the lines during silder up deployments.. I attached a pic, however I've never had anyone show me this in person....any feedback..? Black death? Thanks Blair

Yo! I took both days of Scott's class at my DZ a couple of months ago. We had folks from about 100 jumps to thousands of jumps and multiple instructor ratings, in BOTH classes. Everyone in day 2 is required to attend day 1. Its the BEST $$$ I've spent skydiving since AFF, and a helluva good time too!! Feel free to PM me if you want further info on my experience with the class. Later Blair

That is a SWEET looking suit!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess your next post will contain an AMAZING Mpeg of the maiden flight???

I'm no rigger, but I have seen and jumped CR's vented canopy (Blackjack) and Atair's vented canopy (Troll MDV)......there is a MAJOR difference in the vent/valve system, although I 'believe' they are meant to serve the same purpose. Other than that, I recommend you contact the appropriate manufacturer with your specific questions, and/or hopefully someone with much more experience will chime in....... cue TOM A..... Or Skin if you like, add your .02, I could use the laugh, its a Monday and its too windy to jump..... Later Blair PS FWIW, I own one vented and one non-vented canopy, and I just ordered another VENTED one.....UMMV

SOOOOOOO.....did anyone see the 'donkey dance' ....? Later Blair

Yo, I watched the first attempt from the exit point, and agree with Tom here, had there not been a tree to snag the jumper, I believe it would've resulted in a fatality. I noticed on the first attempt what looked like the lower jumper deploying a SLIDER UP rig after she cut away from the rope....I did not witness the second, successful attempt. Was the lower jumper packed SLIDER DOWN this time and did that make a difference.....also I believe they staggered their TARD exits a bit more on the second one according to the TRIX snipp I saw....no??? Thanks Blair
